Ratings: 'Dancing' finale hits season highs for ABC

Thanks to a two-hour Dancing With the Stars finale (meaning no new episode of The Forgotten to drag down numbers) , ABC earned its highest Tuesday numbers for the fall season in both total viewers and Adults 18-49. At 8 p.m., V held steady from last week in both areas. The three-hour lineup was enough to give ABC an edge over CBS for the night, despite strong showings as usual for NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles. CBS’ freshman drama The Good Wife maintained all of its audience from last week, and even rose 8 percent from last week’s showing in Adults 18-49.

Glad to see the V might be stabilizing, I still think that if they want V to have stronger numbers they should move it to a different timeslot. The reason NCIS is number one right now is because it has always had loyal fans and said fans aren’t going to stop watching anytime soon.

Re: ‘NCIS’ – very true. I’ve been with it from Season 1/Episode 1 and I’ll be there until Season ?/Episode: Last.

‘V’ may have become stable but it’s gone until March so only time will tell if it will survive.
For me it doesn’t have the charm of the original – and is too polished to be interesting.

I hope they resume production on V, it is my favorite show of the season!

    • Dave

V is coming back, but it was known in advance there would be an initial four episode run, then nothing new until after the Winter Olympics.

    • Anna

Agreed V is the best new fall show by far. Im glada its doing well and i cant wait for March when it comes back

I just wished they reported the numbers on non network television. Like lets see the competition between USA/TBS/TNT/FX/ABC Family/E!/AMC When they are showing their original shows

I still cannot believe ABC canceled The Unusuals for The Forgotten. Jeremy Renner and Adam Goldberg are my heroes.

    • dave

I loved The Unusuals! I still miss it. And I still hate ABC for canceling it.

    • Redeye

Maybe it could get picked up by one of the cable networks, like they picked up “Southland” . ADAM GOLDBERG< JEREMY RENNER< AMBER TAMBLIN–ETC–A WONDERFUL SHOW!!

ABC has to move “V” to a different time slot, period. Stop using the show to try and de-throne NCIS. It ain’t gonna happen.

An enhanced schedule really paid divivdends for ABC last night. Not sure what the order will be in March but “V”, L O S T, and Dancing With The Stars should equal up to a potent lineup.

I love the Good Wife…Usually I hate everything on CBS because it’s all procedural with no character development but Good wife is different!!!

  • Eva

I do not remember when the shows were so limited to 6 or 7 shows. I think The Sopranos made the tv audience willing to wait for a few new episodes to come on. I loved Glee this season and usually stick to reality shows, but GLEE was so special and such good acting and singing. The shows were genius. Thank you to the ones who created it.

Its Time for Heroes to end its run.On January 4th 2010.Also chuck to end its run on 2010

If the ratings were any indication, not a lot of people were keen to see the outcome of Dancing with the Stars this season. Around 19.2 million people tuned in to ABC to see Donny Osmond take home the mirror ball trophy, the smallest audience for the show’s finale since its inaugural season – and, ironically so, in the same one with the biggest cast of celebrities.
