If you don’t like the idea of remakes of British shows, don’t watch! A very simple concept for most people.

Aw stuff it with your “don’t watch” bullcr*p! Trust us, we aren’t planning to but that doesn’t mean we can’t be disapointed in the decision to remake a show that doesn’t need to be. I’d much rather they put the time and effort into coming up with something new and different instead of flooding our airwaves with remakes and reimagings. If you don’t like our comments then don’t read them. A very simple concept!

Prime Suspect already has an American remake on the air…it’s called The Closer.

I would love to see Patricia Clarkson in a weekly series in a regular role. Always looked forward to her appearing on “Six Feet Under”, in addition to her movie roles.

Jean Smart was always so good at comedy on “Designing Women”, that I never expected such dramatic depth on “24″.

Judith Light has serious gravitas, as anyone who’s seen her on “Law & Order: SVU” can attest. But I’d hate to see her leave “Ugly Betty”, since she provides a great presence in her role on that show.

Dana Delany wouldn’t be a bad choice, and with the character assassination Katherine has had this season on “Desperate Housewives”, I’d say a change of scenery would be welcome.

Leave it to NBC to make the show 15 years too late. A woman police commander? Oooh. We’ve never seen that before. Wait. Yes we have. A bunch of times. Both here (Law & Order, The Shield, etc.) and in Britain (Inspector Lewis). The hook of Prime Suspect was not just that it was a great procedural but that Tennison was an early female DCI and faced all kinds of crap because of it. What next? A Cagney and Lacey remake? They should have just made an American version as a theatrical movie 15 years ago with Dame Helen in the role. No wonder network television is dying.

Good list for a bad idea. The US TV industry has got to stop ruining great UK shows by “remaking” them. How well has that worked out for us? We are incapable of capturing the nuances of British humor and drama and we should stop trying and stick to what we’re good at – making US TV shows (too many to list) enjoyed all over the world.

Oooh. I like Maura Tierney for this role. But how about
    Famke Janssen?

Speaking of Days of Our Lives, actress Patricia Pease would be perfect for this role. She is tough, absorbs her character and would light up the screen in a serious role!

After reading all of the comments my favorite is still Mary Mc Donnell!!!

Ooo! Patsy Pease would be great on primetime! Don’t know about Tennison, but a similar no-nonsense role would be great for her.

Julianne Moore was an interesting and good pick by NBC, too bad she turned them down. I’d be happy with Mary McDonnell, Connie Britton or Gail O’Grady. Patricia Clarkson would be great as well.

NO MORE REMAKES! Programs like Prime Suspect, Skins, The Inbetweeners and The IT Crowd are fantastic largely because they are British. American television would never go to some of the dark territory those programs go. Why remake good television? Why not remake failed TV programs and improve them?

    How about Michelle Forbes?

I like the Jean Smart idea. And *love* the Rachel Griffiths idea.

The question is, will NBC respect the bluntness and integrity of the original? Or is this just going to be “Crossing Jordan II?”
