Ratings: 'Dancing' and baseball lead the night

Ratings: World Series hits homerun in weekly broadcast ratings

Late October and early November are always like Christmas over at Fox, at least in terms of ratings, because of the huge numbers the World Series draws for the network. This year is no different: Three of the series games topped the ratings amongst the broadcast networks for the week ending Nov. 1. Game 4, which aired Sunday evening, drew the highest viewership in primetime for the week, pulling in 22.8 million viewers. Wednesday’s Game 1 (19.5 million) and Thursday’s Game 2 (18.9 million) followed in the No. 2 and 3 spots. Saturday’s Game 3 was all the way down at No. 7 with 15.4 million viewers, likely taking a ratings hit because it fell on a Saturday evening that also happened to be Halloween.

The rest of the Top 20 didn’t pack too many surprises for the week, with ABC’s Dancing with the Stars competition episode on Monday coming in as the highest non-World Series broadcast with 17.4 million viewers at No. 4. In fact, several of the shows in the Top 20 were old: CBS decided to air repeats of many of its biggest shows—like NCIS (16.7 million), CSI: Miami (11.5 million), Two and a Half Men (11.4 million), NCIS: Los Angeles (11.1 million), and The Big Bang Theory (10.9 million)—which all still managed to do well despite being previously seen.

The full Top 20—complete with viewership totals—is after the jump.

'90210' boss hints at 'multiple gay relationships' on the horizon

Tags: , News

90210-willis-lowndes_lNow that the initial shock and awe surrounding 90210‘s upcoming lesbian love story has worn off (it has, right?), it’s time to get down to business — the business of interrogating showrunner Rebecca Sinclair about the origin of the Gia-Adrianna romance, how it’ll differ from the dozens of cliché-ridden Sapphic story arcs that preceded it on primetime, and which member of the show’s male population is most likely to follow Adrianna out of the closet.

Where did the idea for the Gia-Adrianna story come from?
REBECCA SINCLAIR:
There’s been a real void in the 90210 universe in terms of gay and bisexual characters, so it was always my intention to find the right way to tell a modern story about being a non-straight — or non-entirely straight — teenager. It’s crazy that we don’t have any stories about that. READ FULL STORY »

'CSI' exclusive: George Eads and girlfriend engaged!

Tags: , News

george-eads_lMy little spoiler operation is expanding into late night!

During a taping of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (scheduled to air tonight), CSI‘s George Eads revealed that he’s engaged to longtime girlfriend Monika Casey.

Eads explained to Ferguson that his recent medical woes — the actor underwent back surgery over the summer to fix a herniated disc — strengthened the couple’s bond. “When you go through something that terrible together… I don’t know, maybe it happened for a reason,” he said. “She really was my champion and helped me get through that.”

What are you waiting for? Congratulate the happy couple in the comments section!

Exclusive: 'As The World Turns' casts Paulina Porizkova

Casting a former supermodel for a daytime soap appearance doesn’t exactly pack the same punch as James Franco doing General Hospital, but hey, CBS could do a heckuva lot worse than a Czech beauty: EW.com has learned exclusively that Paulina Porizkova will do a multi-episode arc on As the World Turns beginning Jan. 5. She will play a character named Clarissa who has a history with Simon Frasier (Paul Leyden).  ATWT averages 2.52 million viewers.

Ratings: World Series continues to rule prime time

No big surprises this weekend: The World Series sucked up the vast majority of TV viewership, clocking in at 21 million fans for Sunday’s Game 4 and 12.2 million for Saturday’s Game 3, according to preliminary figures from Nielsen. Interest in the Yankees-Phillies series is building (aside from the understandable dip on Saturday given both the day of the week and the Halloween holiday) as New York moves toward possibly clinching the title in five games tonight. The games won both nights for Fox, while CBS took Friday as usual with perfectly relocated Medium (7.7 million) towering over ABC’s fading Ugly Betty (4.5 million).

New 'Melrose' hottie Nick Zano on inevitable nudity: 'It's not something I look forward to'

Nick-Zano_lAs I previously reported, Courteney Cox’s Cougar Town boy toy, Nick Zano, is relocating to Melrose Place in early January to play an irreverent doctor who prescribes some extra strength chill pills to reluctant prostitute Lauren (Stephanie Jacobsen). In his first interview since being cast, the actor sounds off on his character’s big secret, Melrose‘s sexy, fun makeover, and the downside to having an eight-pack.

Congrats on landing the role.
NICK ZANO:
Thank you. I appreciate that.

Tell me a little bit about this guy.
ZANO:
He’s a person who enjoys life. He lives every day to [its fullest]… I just literally walked out of a meeting with [exec producers] Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin. They were very specific about how they’re going to change the direction of the show. In TV, you usually don’t get a chance to fix anything. It’s always easier to cancel something than fix it. And The CW clearly has a passion for the show, because it’s still on the air. And all of these people are making a very concentrated effort to improve the show and I’m happy to be a part of it.
