Urgent New Year's Eve traffic advisory

Categories: Ask Ausiello

Transportation sources confirm to me exclusively that all inbound lanes to Ask Ausiello will be closed this week on account of that big sparkly ball dropping in Times Square. Traffic will automatically be redirected to the Ask Ausiello archives. Please adjust your travel plans accordingly. I’m told the closure will not — I repeat not — affect The Ausiello Files, which will remain open for business as usual.

Happy New Year!

EXCLUSIVE: NBC in talks to bring back 'Last Comic Standing'

Categories: Television

A network insider confirms that NBC is in talks to bring back Last Comic Standing, a talent show that ran for six seasons on the peacock network. NBC’s reality guru Paul Telegdy is looking to re-launch the franchise with a new host (so long, Bill Bellamy!) and some format changes so it can air as part of the network’s summer lineup, which includes America’s Got Talent and (possibly) the new Losing it with Jillian, featuring The Biggest Loser’s Jillian Michaels.

Comic pits comedians against each other in a competition for a development contract with NBC. It last aired during the summer of 2008, when it averaged 5.2 million viewers and a 7 share among adults 18-49. Though it doesn’t necessarily blow the roof off Nielsen, the show performs particularly well among adults 18-49 living in homes with $75K-plus and $100k-plus incomes.

Just in time: My best in show in '09!

Or maybe just because there is less new stuff to write about this time of year, so I need to fill this column with something. So today, I offer you my picks for the best of the best of the last 12 months. (FYI: I tried to limit the acting categories to one winner and one runner-up, but in some cases ties were simply unavoidable.) READ FULL STORY »
