Urgent New Year's Eve traffic advisory
Transportation sources confirm to me exclusively that all inbound lanes to Ask Ausiello will be closed this week on account of that big sparkly ball dropping in Times Square. Traffic will automatically be redirected to the Ask Ausiello archives. Please adjust your travel plans accordingly. I’m told the closure will not — I repeat not — affect The Ausiello Files, which will remain open for business as usual.
Happy New Year!
EXCLUSIVE: NBC in talks to bring back 'Last Comic Standing'
A network insider confirms that NBC is in talks to bring back Last Comic Standing, a talent show that ran for six seasons on the peacock network. NBC’s reality guru Paul Telegdy is looking to re-launch the franchise with a new host (so long, Bill Bellamy!) and some format changes so it can air as part of the network’s summer lineup, which includes America’s Got Talent and (possibly) the new Losing it with Jillian, featuring The Biggest Loser’s Jillian Michaels.
Comic pits comedians against each other in a competition for a development contract with NBC. It last aired during the summer of 2008, when it averaged 5.2 million viewers and a 7 share among adults 18-49. Though it doesn’t necessarily blow the roof off Nielsen, the show performs particularly well among adults 18-49 living in homes with $75K-plus and $100k-plus incomes.
First Look: 'Glee' villainess Jane Lynch gets animated
Glee‘s fire-breathing badass Jane Lynch will show off a whole new side to herself on the Jan. 10 episode of The Cleveland Show when she debuts as Roberta’s brusque, no-nonsense new teacher Ms. Eck. To mark her toonful new gig on the Family Guy spinoff, the Golden Globe- nominated actress graciously agreed to participate in the following mini-interrogation. READ FULL STORY »
'True Blood' scoop: Will Alcide win Sookie's heart?
Alcide is about to put a major kink in True Blood‘s polarizing Eric/Sookie/Bill triangle. At least that’s the word from the werewolf’s portrayer, Joe Manganiello, who makes a strong case for an Alcide/Sookie pairing in Part 2 of our exclusive Q&A. (You can read Part 1 here.) The 33-year-old actor also weighs in on the length of his commitment to the show and why he isn’t afraid of those crazy Team Bill and Team Eric fans. READ FULL STORY »

Ausiello: It’s happening: Lafayette is getting a boyfriend! A True insider tells me that Alan Ball is quietly searching for a sexy Latino actor in his 30s to play a lust interest for everyone’s favorite same-gender-lovin’ blood dealer. (Over the summer, Ball confirmed that viewers would see a more “vulnerable” Lafayette in season 3.) Got casting tips? Head to the comments! Here’s one to get you started: Um, Adam Rodriguez, hello.
