Early this morning, PopEater’s Naughty But Nice column posted a rumor that personal drama between Dancing With the Stars pros (and former couple) Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff could force producers to drop one of them before season 10. Reps for Maks, Karina, and DWTS all tell EW it’s not true.
According to a source at ABC, “The casting of professionals is determined by the casting of the celebrities, which is still in progress.” Chmerkovskiy’s rep corroborated: “Maks has a contract that goes beyond season 10. As to if he’s coming back or not for next season, that always depends on casting.” Smirnoff’s rep called the one-or-the-other rumor “malicious,” and added, “Karina loves being on Dancing With the Stars and has a professional working relationship with Maksim. I can assure you that she has every intention of returning in the spring.”
I like both…Maks a bit more than Karina…but I hope they both come back. They are great dancers.

Maks is terrible. But then again, most women like the bad boys *sigh* He tripped Joanna Krupa and he inadvertently injured that volleyball player by giving her too difficult choreography. And he has an attitude!
Are you also blaming Cheryl for Tom DeLay getting injured or Jonathan for Marie Osmond fainting? He wasn’t even near Misty when she pulled her hamstring — I think she was just walking across the floor while he was elsewhere getting some water or something. How was it his choreography if she wasn’t even doing it when she was injured? And as for Joanna… She tripped on her own dress, and then blamed Maks because girl is a beeyotch. (Did you see Superstars? She blames other people for all of her own failings.) If Maks was so terrible, he and Mel B. wouldn’t have become one of the best-loved DWTS couples ever. And he wouldn’t have been pulling them in on Broadway when he did Burn the Floor.
Misty tore her ACL (I think) during rehearsal doing a very common Lindy Hop move.
have you lost your mind. maks is a true professional and did none of that. if you have an issue with him then have your own personal issue with him, but don’t professional malign someone like that in a post. it is so unfair. derek trusted maks with joanna and still would trust him with joanna.
maks and karina are both fantastic dancers and deserve to be on the show. if one had to be dropped it should be karina. because of some ‘expressions’ she made when emmitt smith won over mario lopez. it alienated some african americans, and many others to the point no matter who she’s partnered with (unless it was george clooney), they won’t get votes.

Karina and Mario were such big sore losers!!! I do not like her at all. You can tell she’s really not a nice person, only fake nice on tv. And she looks totally evil, she will never win because her personality sucks!!! I wish julianne was back!
Maks is my favourite. Karina is immature and talks with a baby voice. very annoying.

Took some time to get use to Maks and his attitude. That man is sexy as hell and he knows it. His personality has improved over time. Love Tony Dovalani (? sp) too.
Hopefully Karina/Maksim are going to be friends on season 10 of Dancing with the stars.
Karina is the town bike of DWTS – everybody’s had a ride. I can’t stand her.
Karina is a total bitch — and totally FAKE! Everything people are saying here about her is TRUE — I’ve witnessed it first hand. She is rude, childish, a bitch, faker than fake, and the list could go on for miles.
However, Maksim is completely wonderful, down to earth and a total sweetheart. If they were to pick who to stay on the show for Season 10, their best bet would be Maks. I know a LOT of people watch the show strictly for him. The whole “bad boy” persona that ABC pulls with him is a total bunch of crap. That man is the biggest teddy bear you would ever meet!
