His name is Hugh Laurie. And he’s a workaholic.
House‘s leading man and producer will add to his already sizeable workload when he steps behind the cameras to direct this season’s 17th episode, slated to shoot in January and air March 22. “He starts prep when we get back [from the holiday break],” reveals exec producer Katie Jacobs.
This isn’t Laurie’s first time in the director’s chair — he previously helmed the British dramedy Fortysomething in which he also starred — but this marks his first time calling the shots on House. “Hugh has been there since day one through every single episode, so he’s phenomenally smart and his instincts are [impeccable],” Jacobs says. “This is going to be great for morale, because there’s no one that the cast and crew and the writers want to work harder for than our leader.”
The plot of the episode is being kept under wraps — grr! However, Jacobs at least lets slip that “it’s not a traditional episode.”

Really, House has become such a loathsome human this season that I would never wish him on Cuddy. And gawd, could you even imagine how cruel he would be to her child? He’s vicious enough to adults who could actually fight back, imagine his glee at verbally abusing a toddler who can’t.
I wouldn’t wish House or Cuddy or Foreman or the short guy with big nose or 13 on anybody. Bunch of Neurotics. God help us to think doctors are actually like these losers.
I think House would actually treat Cuddy’s kid with more respect than he does other adults.
And, how can you say Lucas is not on the same level as Cuddy. The guy is brilliant at what he does, as well. I’d like to see Cuddy begin to obsess over House…. and break up with Lucas only to find out that House as already begun dating someone else.. At the same time, I’d like to see 13 and Chase hook up and Foreman get furious… that would make for good TV.
House can control his abuse on other people, he just decides not to. With a little child, I think he would.
And Lucas and Cuddy should break up. End of story.
This is for Maddy – WHAT THE HELL? Seriously. House has been the “loathsome human”? As if! Cuddy’s the one who was cruel enough to send him to an EMPTY house on THANKSGIVING and because why? She thought he’d spoil her ever-so-perfect day with her new boyfriend. I hate the Cuddy/Lucas ship, hatehatehate and she’s made me hate the Cuddy/House ship too. If anyone is better off without the other person, it’s House. I give many highfives to Wilson for FINALLY sticking up for house and buying the house that Cuddy was looking at.

a director just tells the camera where to point?? Right, clearly that is why being the director is considered the top job, the position everyone covets and aspires to attain (on a film set).
you missed one thing, directors dont just say where should the camera point but also give actors directions and tips to make their job as interpreting a character easier

That would actually be pretty cool. I know that HL plays every instrument known to mankind, RSL won a Tony award, LE could do a dance of some kind, not too sure about the rest of the cast though…but a musical would be AWESOME. XD
Jesse Spencer sang with the Australian National Boys Choir, and also sang on the Uptown Girls soundtrack. He also plays the violin.

Haven’t watched a lot of Bones but personally i don’t think it would work as ultimately House would have to win, House is only able to get away with what he does because he is the only one who is always right so he saves lives. It would be too much of a shot to House’s character and the tone of the show to have House outsmarted (or even on the same playing field as the bones lady). And I’m pretty sure there’s no Bones fans out there who would want to watch a crossover just to see their main character outsmarted and demeamned by House. Just wouldn’t work.

I was thinking a dream or fantasy sequence like they’ve done with other shows. For the record, I’m with Pickles. I would hate it if House ever tolerated being near Cuddy after what she did to him. I can’t think of a more hateful thing to do to another human being. And he’s been less loathsome than ever this season. As far as the child goes, what about when he was going to offer to babysit for Cuddy. Did everyone forget about the episode in which he connected with the autistic kid? He was able to do that because he was real. And yes, it is time Wilson stuck up for him.
I agree with you 100%. They’ve shown House to actually be human lately…..he’s shown compassion, love, and to a certain degree, some soul searching capabilities. He’s “grown” as a human being….and Cuddy was brought down to the “old” House’s level with her stunt on Thanks Giving. That was mean….even lower than a “House stunt”…and then to show no remorse about it was unbelievably cruel. I think it would be a great twist for Cuddy to start obsessing over House, then end up dumping Lucas with the hopes of scooping up House, only to find that House has started dating ??? He would, of course, have to be unaware of Cuddy’s change of heart……
My dream scenario is that Hugh directs Cuddy and Thirteen eloping to never come back. Sayonara Cuthirteen

People are so brainwashed by the media – they think anyone that doesn’t look like Pam Anderson isn’t beautiful…there are all different kinds of beauty and we can’t all be young forever…we all WILL GROW OLD, all of us and not look quite as good as when we were younger, but there again, the media, age can be beautiful in many ways, shapes and forms. Me too. After they started downgrading the intelligence level and reduced the show into General Hospital reloaded for squeeing Huddy fangirls I quit. Waiting for better times though, I’m more than willing to tune in again once the Huddy nightmare is over.

Hopefully it’s the Luddy wedding or a sex scene between Lucas and Cuddy. ANYTHING as long as it’s not Huddy, that’s simply vomit-inducing. Hugh does have better taste than that. I hope for a great medical case, involving his entire team, including Cameron because I prefer the original team.
