Gina??? Is this an allusion (?) to the Gina character in the episode where the team had to go into the CIA and find out who the mole was? At the end of the episode, S. M.’s character told her if she ever wanted to switch the door was open???? if so, why not the actress who played her in the episode?

    • castiella

Good catch. I guess it’s not the same Gina, because I can’t imagine a recast of the same character making any sense.

  • gary Armstrong

    bring on agent anderson!

  • Vin

The Lennie James as Cooper idea…is a good one

  • anonyme

    James Marsters for Cooper.

    • cattyfan

Wouldn’t he make a better Mick?

      • Ummmmm

James Marsters is too old for Mick, even though he ROCKS a brit accent.

    • D

James Marsters for any role would be awesome. Anthony Stewart Head for Cooper.

  • Pat

How about Alex O’Loughlin for Mick? Of course, they’d have to change the name (Moonlight)And he’d finally get to keep his accent (Aussie not Brit)CBS owes him after the dismal Three Rivers.

  • jmag

Gina = Vanessa Marcil, or Crew’s partner from Life (sorry, but I can’t remember her name)
Cooper = Detective Scanlon from Medium (I think he’s underused)
Prophet = August Richards, Terrence T.C. Carson

Anyway, CM is a godawful show, but I can’t seem to stop watching it.

    • @ jmag

The girl from Life is Sarah Shahi that other posters have been mentioning. :-)

  • Daisy

So far I can’t see a spin-off of Criminal Minds work, but I will give it a shot. However, I would love it if they cast Daniel Lewis, Eric Close or Adrian Pasder.

  • cattyfan

Age “Prophet” a few years and cast Steve Harris. Please.
    Cooper should be Arnold Vosloo.

I like the other two roles cast with the suggestions of Paul Leydon and Marissa Ramirez. Who care if Leydon is Australian…it’s called acting. (Look at Simon Baker. He’s Australian, but you wouldn’t know it watching him in The Mentalist.)

    • Prophet

Totally agree with Steve Harris as Prophet. At 44 he’s still eligible to be an ex-con who got recruited into the bureau. They accept people up to the age of 37 in Quantico for training. (looked that up)

  • Vin

    Damian Lewis as Cooper

  • ellyn m.

the more and more I think of this…how can they do a spinoff…it’s not like there’s a BAU division in different cities otherwise they wouldn’t be called in all the time (unlike CSI which could do storylines with departments in just about every major city)????

    • @ Ellyn

There isn’t BAU divisions in all places, no, but there are a bunch of people we never meet in the background on CM, and as we saw when Derek got his office, Aaron is not the only unit chief.
Aaron chooses to work with HIS team, but there are more teams, I’m pretty sure.

  • Vin

I am assuming it would be a 2nd active BAU team that works out of Quantico

    • castiella

Would they have to use the same BAU set, then? Set-sharing could be an interesting cost-saving method, since both teams would spend most of their time in the field, anyway.

  • Jason

How about Michael Ealy (Sleeper Cell) as Prophet? The guy played an undercover agent posing as a terrorist…I think he’d pull this off rather convincingly.

    • moon

      Yes, Michael Ealy as prophet!!!
      Vanessa Marcel-Gina
      Aidan Turner-Mick

  • Shirley

I’d love to see Ray Liotta as the leader. And how about some handsome male Latin agents for a nice change?

    • cattyfan

Casting Ray Liotta will guarantee I NEVER watch.

    • MD

Oh Shirley – I like your idea!
I’d like to see Benjamin Bratt back on tv since A&E cancelled his show or Enrique Murciano from without a trace!

      • castiella

Bratt would make a good Cooper. I don’t know if Vanessa Marcil could pull off the Gina role, though. She tends to come across as whiny… not a good quality in an FBI agent!

  • Tego Livi

I’m not constitutionally opposed to a spinoff of Criminal Minds, but it seems to me they’re going to have to make it about a tema that covers a different type of crime. A team that specializes in serial killers is itself inherently unrealistic (if the U.S. had 20+ major depraved serial killers every year, we’d collapse in a maelstrom of panic. It’s also unrealistic how they catch these killers virtually every week.
Another team investigating the same type of crimes would be silly. A different specialty, on the other hand, has possibilities. Maybe a counterterrorism unit, I don’t know. As for the casting, I’ll leave that the professionals who do it for a living.

    • cattyfan

They don’t just do serial killers. They also do kidnappings and sexual predators (which this country has in abundance…unfortunately.)

  • Dusty

I think Cooper should be a female. I would love to see Geena Davis as the head honcho.
Totally agree with Marisa Ramirez and J August Richards.

    • cattyfan

Geena Davis??? Please. She would never be believable, and couldn’t carry a show as a lead.
