'Dollhouse' exclusive: Eliza Dushku's BF Rick Fox moves in!

Tags: , News

I think it’s getting serious: Eliza Dushku and real-life boyfriend Rick Fox are playing Dollhouse together!

Sources confirm to me exclusively that the hoops star-turned-actor (Dirt, One Tree Hill) will appear as an Active in the Jan. 8 episode of the soon-to-expire drama.

In the don’t-blink-or-you’ll-miss-it cameo, Fox’s Doll will be seen rising from the imprint chair after having been given his original personality back. Next thing you know (spoiler alert!), he’s being released into the wild along with dozens of other Dolls.

The episode, which airs two weeks before Dollhouse‘s series finale on Jan. 22, also features a return appearance by Summer Glau.

This isn’t the first time Fox accepted a fourth-wall-shattering gig alongside a real-life significant other. In 2007, he recurred on Ugly Betty as the bodyguard-love interest to Wilhelmina, played by ex-wife Vanessa Williams.

Thoughts? Curious to see if Dushku and Fox have any reel chemistry? (See what I did there?)

Now if only BET really would start making enw episodes of The Game!

    • Chris

I totally agree! I need new episodes of “The Game” ASAP!

  • jmag

I didn’t know they were dating. Seems like a weird fit. Maybe he has a thing for successful actresses who can find him work.

    • kellybelly

Ausiello, are they REALLY dating? Or just, you know, going out?

      • rodo@aol.com

Isn’t he like twice or 3x her age?

      • Sue

He is 2x her age. He is 11 years older than her, which may or may not be a lot depending on your perspective.

      • NoElizaforOldMen

She probably helps him when he loses his dentures and needs another Depends.

    • Sue

Meant to say ‘he is not 2x’ ….

  • harry

I had no idea they were going out!

    • LYNN

And Eliza is barley on the D-List herself

      • Ha!

I’d call her C-list at worst.

  • Mike

You would figure someone as itelligent, talented and beautiful as Eliza could land a better BF than this 2nd string, D-list castoff of Vanessa Williams.

    • Jane

You seem a little too bothered by their relationship. You never ever had or will ever have a chance with her so give it up.

  • Shaun

Uh, yeah, I’m in the same boat as everybody else…I didn’t even know they were dating! And, yes, it is an old match, lol

    • Shaun

sorry, that should be ‘odd’ match

      • emoney

No, you had it right the first time. Dude is too old for her…

  • kara

She could do so much better!!!!

    • LOL

      I agree! She’s a beautiful, kinda-talented woman.
I know looks are not everything…but seriously, this guy is FUG!

  • keith

    Isn’t he an x nba player? She’s a fool.

  • jmag

Although I love Whedon and Dushku, I could never get into Dollhouse. It was that whole whore aspect of it that completely turned me off.

    • Julie

It’s not about “whoring” them out. There’s quite a more nefarious purpose to the Dollhouse. I think people took one look at the client of the week nonsense in the first season and immediately pigeonholed it as some sex-crazed show. While that does play a part – especially in the client/doll relationship – it’s not the central theme of the show.

It’s for this reason the show’s off the air. If these people were made assassins-for-hire (of their own free will – with the exception of Caroline…maybe) and eating people’s eyeballs out with a spoon…no one would have blinked an eye.

      • jmag

Its about erasing an identity and implanting a new one for a price. I call that whoring. The airhead aspect of Echo’s personality after the mission was completed, the coffin/beds, and the lack of a real defined and believable science fiction/fantasy angle the show just creepy. It was no wonder this show did not catch on.

Dushku can do better than Rick Fox!

      • Jayme

It’s meant to make you feel icky, its that type of show and it does become a lot less focused upon later on. It’s pretty much the journey to becoming a person. If you like Whedon, I recommend taking another look because there’s some of the best Whedonverse stuff ever in there.

      • kellybelly

If you like Whedon DO NOT watch Dollhouse. This is NOT a good example of his work or his “whedonverse”. Jayme that’s just crazy talk. I am only watching it now, while sticking a fork in my leg as I’m doing it, to finish up the series. But seriously, the writing, sucks. Bad. Even if it was a “Aaron Spelling” show. Obviously, Whedon is throwing stuff in there to wrap up the show, but it has gone long past believeable dialogue and characters.

      • Tarc

Actually, you calerly don’t *understand* what your’re watching. Satrting with episode six, Dollhouse has been a pretty amazing bit of old-school sci-fi. I suppose some purtianical dimwits might not be able to scratch the surface of Dollhouse and see what the show is actually about, but that would be sad. The writing is stylized for this universe, and is often moving and poignant, and nearly always thought-provoking. I have zero doubt it will be looked back on as a classic cancelled too early – just like Firefly.

      • James Stewart

Hey TARK you dimwit judgemental prick!!
Puritanical? Oh I see if someone does not think as you do that makes them Puritanical. It is your type of bigotry that destroys civilizations!!

Dude you need your meds and need to get off Whedon’s jock strap. Apparently a lot of people think the show sucked as I am sure many think you do to

  • buffyrat

Well, however you feel about it, Rick Fox is one lucky dude!

    • JEREMY

YES,Rick Fox is LUCKY he latched onto somebody who could get him a paying acting gig. He is PLAYING her like Eric Clapton played “Layla”. Don’t think Eliza doesn’t know this. As soon as this show is over, his next gig will be on “Dancing with the Stars”. He’ll just be an object in her rearview mirror. HELL,YES, she can do better. She knows if she wants someone who’ll really treat her right,I’m just an email away.

  • Blerg

Ugh. He really grosses me out. Doesn’t help she looks like his kid next to her.

    • Blerg

      *him sorry.

    • DW

He is quite fugtastic, I must say.

    • TC

He is creepy. I met him years ago at a mall I was working at and he was on the Celtics at the time and tried being all slick saying certain info was private (I needed to ask for a phone number at the job I was at). Dude was laying all over my register and being flirty.

  • Malerie

    He’s kind of creepy.

  • Gambs

Really, Rick Fox should have been a football player instead of a basketball player, because between Vanessa Williams and Eliza Dushku, he seriously out-kicked his coverage twice.

And yes, he’s much older than her. According to each person’s bio, Fox is 40 and Dushku is 29. By the way, Vanessa Williams is 46, so Fox went from being six years younger than his wife to 11 years older than his girlfriend.

  • James T.

When the hell is this show going to be over?

    • Jaymii

Jan 11. And in five years time you’ll realise how awesome it really is.

      • kellybelly

You must be one of the writers Jaymii to think this.

      • jmag

I am a fan of Whedon’s but I think he totally missed the mark on Dollhouse. Some may call the writing stylized but I call it flat. Dollhouse doesn’t compare to Firefly.

      • Amy Leigh

@jmag: ITA. I’ve watched all the episodes of Dollhouse b/c I’ve been waiting for that magic to appear that I’ve seen in so many Whedon shows. It just hasn’t. The Attic episode this past week is the only episode that I’ve felt could compare to Whedon’s other stuff.

  • LYNN

FUNNY HOW YOU DID NOT MENTION THE ALL AFRICAN AMERICAN CAST SHOW “THE GAME” THAT HE IS ON REGULARY

    • Julie

Probably because even fewer people watch IT than watch Dollhouse. Didn’t even know he was on a show TBH.

      • Mike

        here here Julie

    • BlackIrish4094

      Who cares?

    • Jim Brown

WoW How racist is that. We need to call the EEOC for hiring violations because they are not Equal Opportunity!!

  • billhedrick

ummm maybe he’s a wonderful person and he and Eliza are in love?

    • RickFoxTappin’Away

Nah, more likely he has a big unit and she has jungle fever …
