First Look: My 2009 Christmas Wish List!

As a wise man once said, Christmas is about receiving not giving. It’s in that spirit that I present you with my ’09 wish list, reprinted below with permission from the Bearded Fat One.

* A Mad Men comeback for Sal.

* A tie in the supporting actress TV category between Chloe Sevigny and Jane Lynch at next month’s Golden Globe Awards.

* A 10th season of Smallville and all the traffic that will come with it.

* More than 10 million viewers for Chuck‘s third-season premiere on Sunday, Jan. 10. (But I’d settle for 7.)

* Non-hallucinatory Huddy sex.

* A box office boost for Ragtime that ensures the sublime revival will be around at least long enough to get some Tony love.

* A federal law making talking or candy-wrapper crinkling during movies or Broadway shows a crime punishable by death.

* Success for The Smurfs Movie so massive it increases the value of my collection tenfold and paves the way for my early retirement.

* Reunion projects for Deadwood, Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls, and Santa Barbara.

* At least three Banana Republic stretch-pima cotton basic tees (size small).

* A satisfying conclusion to Lost.

* Someone to tell me (on the record, off the record or on deep background) the real reason this happened.

* An end to poverty worldwide. Increased fame and wealth for me me me me me!

* A gift certificate for one memory-erasing session with Damon from Vampire Diaries. Among the things I want permanently wiped from my mind: the Hank pilot, every episode of The Jay Leno Show, January Jones on SNL, USC’s 2009 football season, and Rita in the bathtub.

* An Emmy nomination and/or win for any one of the following peeps: Jim Parsons, Chloe Sevigny, Zach Gilford, Connie Britton, Kyle Chandler, Zach Levi, or John Noble.

* A Comic-Con experience that doesn’t begin with me contracting the flu and end in an emergency room.

Okay, enough about me. What did you ask Santy Claus for Christmas (or Hanukkah or Kwanza)? Share your own list below while there’s still time!

I want a satisfying ending to LOST too! I don’t need every single thing answered, because that would take 5 more seasons. But I want the big things answered and I don’t want an ending like Alias cuz that SUCKED!

    • Seema

Definitely agree with you on this one. Alias’ ending was pretty crappy.

      • Me

You guys are drunk. Alias had one of the best endings. Not only did Syd get to kill Sloane, he was trapped in a cave forever in pain because he had just gained eternal life. That’s good stuff. Now Sopranos’ ending, THAT SUCKED!

      • Marc

no no, they are not drunk. they are correct. I still love Alias with a passion but, oh, that last episode leaves such a bad taste in your mouth. Eternal Life? Jack dead? and honestly i think it would have been a lot better if Syd walked in a actually saw her kid build the puzzle tower (and not knock it down). Season 1- (parts of) 3 will always be the best stuff.

      • K

Marc, you nailed it for me… partway through season 3 I started to realize Abrams had no idea where he was taking it, and it started to show. Don’t even get me started on season 5 and the hot mess that was. Too bad too, cause I loved the first couple of seasons. Luckily for us Lost fans, Abrams has zero creative involvement in Lost anymore, so there’s hope for the finale!

      • ariel

Yup, the time leap completely screwed that show for season three. They spent the rest of the series trying to recover. Seasons 1 and 2 were Alias’ best. 3 not so much. 4 and 5? Not even remotely close to Alias’ first two seasons. But it looks like JJ at least learned from that disaster.

      • DW

K, if you paid any attention to Alias you would know that Abrams didn’t have much involvement in seasons 3-5.

      • Maddy

Yeah, actually, it was the other way around. Alias started to such AFTER Abrams reduced his involvement in the show resulting in the horror that was the last seasons. Of course Garner being knocked up and them writing into the show was just a piss-poor decision that they never recovered from. As the sliding rating showed, no one wanted to watch “secret Agent Mom”

    • Liz

I liked the end of Alias. Jack sacrificing himself for the daughter he had such a rough relationship with it drove the show for years. I didn’t like hte last five minutes of happily ever after but I did like what led up to it.

      • graeme

Alias had a great ending. Jack dying was powerful, but his last line “You beat death Arvin, but you couldn’t beat me” was perfect. And Syd deserved her that happy ending. She’d been through hell.

      • Carrie

I also enjoyed the “Alias” finale. Sloane got exactly what he deserved.

      • JP

Oh my Alias, how I miss you. I still hope and dream that someday the entire cast will reunite for an Alias movie, but I know that’s unrealistic. And you can’t really blame the final season (which I thought was better than season 4) on the show. The network cut them short, and I thought they wrapped up as much as they could in the last few episodes. Remember how excited you were when the rumor Vaughn was alive turned out to be true!

      • brad

Alias had a great ending especially given the time frame they had to work with. jack taking down sloane and sydney having the final battle with her mother. season 4 was the weakest especially at the beginning but recovered by the end of the season. still the best was the season two finale with the francie battle!

      • Jenn

God, I miss Alias (Marshall, Dixon, Vaughn, Jack, Syd I miss them all too freaking much). I completely agree that the last two seasons left something to be desired, but I also agree with every word written by graeme, that line is probably the best thing ever.

    • Ashley G.

I just want these three simple things for LOST:

1)the Kate/Jack/Sawyer love triangle resolved (please pretty please pick Jack)

      2) What exactly do the numbers mean?

      3) Who are Jacob and the Man in Black?

That’s all I want for next year =)

      • Adam

Who is Richard Alpert and why doesn’t he age?!?!

      • Jaymii

We’re not getting a numbers answer. Lindelof compared it to The Force being explained… totally pointless.

Plus there’s that end of the world answer that the books discussed.

      • Das Boot

        Jaymi,

They did explain the force. Sure it was a terrible explaination, but Lucas explained it in Phantom Menace.

      • Suntrap

Yes, Das Boot, they did explain the force in Phantom Menace, and and Jaymii said, it was totally pointless. Midiclorians? Bleh.

    • hope

Ausiello, I’m sorry but I’ll have to disagree with you on the Christmas is about receiving not giving. I heard another wise man say that it is better to GIVE then to RECEIVE and I have to say giving is better it feels so much more rewarding. Anyway, Here’s to success for Chuck Here’s to the new year as well cheers

      • Ron

Then give Michael something he wants. ;)

      • hope

okay ron if you’re so smart what do you think i should give him?

      • Ron

        Start driving to Banana Republic.

      • Ron

Better yet, use the link he provided.

      • Ron

And before you ask the obvious, I’m all tapped out. I’m only suggesting this because you’re all about giving. ;)

      • hope

Now you’re being sarcastic. I don’t even know where Ausiello lives and for another? Banana Republic is way out of my price range. Don’t kid yourself my friend

      • Joe

Gee Hope… I think the sarcasm was from Ausiello. But if you wanted to stay on your original thought, you could have at least finished off the comment with “so in the spirit of GIVING, give us some scoop on FNL”

      • Ron

Looks like you’re not much of a giver after all, hope. ;)

    • amj

I agree with this and I would like to see Jim Parsons and Michael C. Hall win an emmy! And, hope, it was a joke! Lighten up!

      • amj

The satsifying to Lost is what i agree with….please resolve that love triangle and tell me about the numbers! Also, it wouldn’t hurt to fully explain Dharma!

  • Caroline

I want a win for Neil Patrick Harris! Also great success for Chuck, and for Sal to come back on Mad Men.

    • amj

100% support a win for NPH. I don’t know if that means that NPH and Jim Parsons are up against one another…hope not!

    • kevin

I want Sal to come back too but he can’t work at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce because their biggest client (the cigarette company) is the guy Sal rejected which is why he got fired in the first place.

  • Gwen

I would add Robert Sean Leonard to your list of people you wish to see on the Emmy nomination list!

    • Foxy

Ditto an Emmy nod for RSL would be awesome! And amen to Huddy sex I’d settle for a Lucas Cuddy breakup though!

    • Karla

Huddy sex + emmy nomination for Robert, Hugh and Lisa. Couldn´t ask for more. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY

      • Cheery

Yes, REAL Huddy sex (it’s unbelievable it’s taken this long) and an end to ridiculous plot contrivances!!

      • Karla

Yea to Huddy Sex. In addition to RSL to the Emmy nod, I would also add LE.

      • Allyson

Could not agree more. Emmys all around for everyone in House! And Huddy rules!

  • Sarah

I agree with the satisfactory conclusion to Lost. And also to have my memory of Rita in the bathtub erased (So shocking, and sad).

    • amj

Even though I found Rita’s bathtub scene sad I actually think it was a near perfect ending to this season. So many places to go from here! I am one of those in the minority I know but Dexter wouldn’t be as awesome with a happy ending now would it? Plus it wouldn’t be believable if it was a sweet ending…!

  • Kelli

    1. Zack back on Bones.
    2. A Golden Globe for Glee.
    3. The end of full screen pop-ups on my computer.

    • Wes

You might want to invest in a good anti-spyware program, because you are infected.

    • Brie

Zack totally needs to come back to Bones…. the fill-in’s just aren’t cutting it.

      • Lilly

I agree Zach needs to come back and the fill-ins aren’t great but I would be happy if the just kept Wendell all the time instead of going back and forth.

      • brad

I agree wendall is the best his character is interesting, and you feel for him because he has worked so hard to get where he is after coming from nothing and he would fit in better as a friend to everyone as well.

    • amj

Now there is a memory I wanted erased…that of Zach as the killer on Bones! Haven’t really watched since..disturbing and highly unnecessary!

      • Coyote

If you bothered to watch you’d know that Zack confessed that he wasn’t the killer.

      • amj

I do know that but it doesn’t matter. The original shock was too much to allow me to enjoy that storyline. Just the fact that he was involved and is now gone is too depressing.

    • AM

I agree! A golden globe for the cast of Glee. Glee is such a great show, but people underrate it and I dont know why.

      • SindaCelva

I actually watch Glee, and I must say that every week I wonder why I keep watching it. So I say that the boring story-lines, annoying characters and non-chemistry is why some people don’t like it…

    • AM

I agree!! A golden globe for the entire cast of Glee. Glee is such a great show, but is so underrated and I dont know why.

    • Karin

Amen to getting Zach back on Bones, although i really doubt it’ll happen. Due to the whole cannibal’s apprentice thing.

    • SteveB

See, now I am just waiting for Glee to DIE!. It was a great idea that was given up on in favor of the same old tired, cheap jokes instead. Only they do it with a soundtrack. Yawn.

  • Debs

Amen to a 10th Season of my fav show…Smallville :D

    • Jennifer

The same one is reserved for child molesters – go figure.

      • Jennifer

Oops! This was supposed to be a reply to Shiny Tim’s post. :-(

(They really need an ‘undo’ button for those of us with fingers that move faster than our brains do.)

    • nezo

OMG Jennifer’s freudian slip is priceless!!

    • Jen

Totally agree….I wanna see him fly & in the suit though :)

  • Shiny Tim

I don’t know about the death penalty, but there is a very special level of hell reserved for people who talk at the theater.

    • K

Ha! That line was the first thing I thought of when I read that wish. And also, I completely agree. I’ll add people who text at the theatre. That stupid light can be so distracting. What’s wrong with us that we can’t go 90 minutes without contact with ppl?

  • nico

I want Jeffrey Dean Morgan back to Supernatural for a 5 episodes arc.

    • Elle

I second that! He should definately return, if for nothing else than the 100th episode in the spring.

    • Wickeddoll

Only 5 eps? BAH – bring him back forever! :-)

    • kt

Yeah, I’d like to see that too. We know he left hell, but where did he go and who is he with. Hopefully he’s somewhere in Castiel’s garrison.

    • amj

Totally agree with Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s return on Supernatural! Close it out right!

    • Karin

Speaking of Supernatural, how about some time reversal to bring back Jo and Ellen. What is with Kripke killing off all the girls!

    • michele

Yes, I also want this. Please JDM??? Free up your schedule, man!

  • Debs

Yes please tp a 10th season of Smallville.

  • Thomas

A miracle pickup for Dollhouse by a cable network.

    • veronica

      Amen!

      • Anne

        DOUBLE AMEN!!!

      • Andy Handy

        SUPER DUPER AMEN!

    • KRibbons

      AGREED! Santa please!

    • Liz

YES! A place where the first half of the season doesn’t have to consist of crappy stand along episodes but rather a long story that continues week to week. I’ll add this to my list right now.

    • Doc

YES! Dollhouse has become amazing, which one couldn’t have guessed from the first episodes of the show.

    • kevin

That would be the best thing ever!!!

    • SindaCelva

Yes, please! My heart is breaking because the show is ending!

  • Rob

An Emmy nomination for Lea Michele. A Best Supporting Emmy nom for the underrated Kaley Cuoco on The Big Bang. An Emmy win for Jim Parsons. A fourth season of “Chuck”.

    • Dee

Ohh totally agree with all of these things especially a fourth season of Chuck. That would simply be awesome!

    • Lisa

AMEN. Love your New Year’s wishes.

  • Blin

Joe Flanigan in a new series

  • Feris Ceberton

Couldn’t agree more with your idea

    * More than 10 million viewers for Chuck’s third-season premiere on Sunday, Jan. 10. (But I’d settle for 7.)

    * Non-hallucinatory Huddy sex.

    * Reunion projects for Deadwood, Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls, and Santa Barbara

    • Marianne

Amen! To Chuck premiering and gaining more than 10 million viewers!

      • eden

        deadwood! I could die happy.

    • feralfae

What on Earth is “Non-hallucinatory Huddy sex?”

    • anonymous

A reunion for Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls would be great, but a reunion for Arrested Development would be heaven.

  • Gabrielle

All I want is… (And sorry this is so long… I just have a lot of requests…)
    Moonlight back on my television
House back sooner than Jan. 25 (I have been suffering from withdrawal for what feels likes months now!)
Dollhouse picked up (It is just getting good now!)
Zack on Bones for the flashback episodes
Flashforward to figure out what they are doing wrong and fix it
Glee to return to my television NOW… not in 4 months!
Lucas and Cuddy to break up and Huddy sex to commence
    Booth and Bones sex
Somebody to kill off Tommy already on Brothers and Sisters, but bring back Julia & Elizabeth
The return of Grissom to CSI

    • BC Man

“House” is actually back Jan 11. They moved an episode to go up against “Chuck.”

      • nikki

that was a crappy move on fox’s part

    • Lala

House was on Family Guy the other week, so that helped me with the withdrawal a teeny little bit. I’m all for the Huddy sex. Bring it on! And JMo should come back as well. Oh, and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

    • Karin

God i wish Booth and Bones would get together. But i’m sure the writers enjoy all the fan’s suffering.

    • Jen

      God I miss moonlight :(

  • Joey

    JMo back in House !
