Armchair Casting Director: 'Gossip Girl'

Eric’s getting a new boyfriend on Gossip Girl! At least that’s the conclusion I’m drawing based on the following just-released casting intel for the role of…

ELLIOT: Attractive, upscale, scruffy 16-year-old. He lives in Eric’s building. Possible recurring.

'Glee': Source says there are plans to release original content during hiatus

Categories: Television, TV Biz

I know these last few days since the Glee fall finale have been tough, fellow Gleeks. Personally, I watched the “My Life Would Suck Without You” performance about six times, not wanting to let the show end. Glee is not scheduled to return with new episodes until April 13 (the cast and crew will begin shooting the back nine episodes in early January) but EW does have some info that will hopefully help you handle your withdrawal: sources close to the show say that there are plans to release original content during the hiatus (similar to how clips and music were released this past summer between the May preview and the season premiere) and that an episode marathon is being discussed prior to the series returning. While nothing is official yet, Gleeks, your best bet is to check out the series twitter and Facebook pages for updates.

Meanwhile, Fox says it’s not concerned about Glee’s four-month long hiatus. “If I were ABC, I would be concerned about FlashForward because those shows are ending in a downward cycle—Glee’s ending in an upward cycle,” says Preston Beckman, Fox’s EVP of Strategic Program Planning and Research. “The best news of all is that when it returns it’s gonna be sitting behind American Idol. So it’s not like we’re putting it in a time period where it’s gonna have to fight.”

Scoop: 'Gilmore' guy cast as Liam's dad

It’s about time 90210 showrunner Rebecca Sinclair started exploiting her Gilmore Girls connections…

Sinclair, a onetime Gilmore producer, has tapped Scott Paterson to play Liam’s biological father in at least two episodes, sources confirm.

Which Gilmore alum should Sinclair pursue next? My vote: Liza Weil. That girl’s been away from my TV set for too long.

Thursday ratings: 'CSI,' 'The Mentalist' dominate, NBC comedies improve

A night of repeats on ABC meant a night of upticks everywhere else: NBC’s comedies posted their best numbers of the season, as did CSI and The Mentalist. Bones held on against a big night for Survivor, but Fringe continued to struggle — it was the only first-run show whose audience shrank from last week.

'Lie to Me' first look: Felicia Day revisits 'Dr. Horrible' triumph

Categories: Felicia Day, Lie to Me

Members of the Cult of Felicia Day now have even more reason to tune into Lie to Me on Monday: The Queen of all things nerdtastic and awesome not only acts, but sings!

In the episode — the drama’s fall finale — Day guests as a teacher who brings her class to the Lightman Group on a field trip, only to get stranded there when a disgruntled farmer threatens to blow up DC. In an effort to entertain/distract the little kiddies, Day’s character performs a duet with Loker (Brendan Hines).

The end result has iTunes smash written all over it. At the very least, the addictive, so-wrong-it’s-right track better be on Hines’ next album. But don’t take my word for it. Watch the scene after the jump and post your sure-to-be-glowing reviews in the comments section! READ FULL STORY »

Ratings: Barbara Walters' people not as fascinating as CBS' procedurals

CBS won the ratings race Wednesday. Criminal Minds was the night’s most-watched program, followed by CSI: NY, which topped Barbara Walters’ annual countdown of the year’s most fascinating people in the 10 p.m. hour. Up against Fox’s fall finale of Glee, ABC’s Modern Family drew its biggest audience and top Adults 18-49 number since September. Its Christmas episode tied Criminal Minds as Wednesday’s top-rated show in the 18-49 demo.

Ratings: NBC feasts on 'Biggest Loser' finale

Categories: TV Biz, TV Ratings

The season finale of NBC’s The Biggest Loser was Tuesday night’s big winner — it earned an extremely high Adults 18-49 rating of 5.0, and its average viewership grew a whopping 24 percent over the course of two hours. As a result, the network’s 10 p.m. offering, The Jay Leno Show, enjoyed its highest viewership in weeks. And yet! CBS drew in the highest average viewership for the night with its slate of repeats. The return of ABC’s Better Off Ted performed poorly — that funny show cannot catch a break. In what universe does Portia de Rossi plus genetic engineering not equal funny? Join EW’s Ken Tucker in his petition to ABC to throw BOT into its Wednesday night comedy block alongside Modern Family and Cougar Town.
