'Ugly Betty' exclusive: Vanessa Williams' bro cast as Willie's twin!

Categories: Ugly Betty

It looks like Ugly Betty‘s new Wednesday timeslot is going to be a real drag for Wilhelmina Slater — but in a good way.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Vanessa Williams’ real-life bro, Chris Williams (a.k.a. Curb Your Enthusiasm‘s Crazy Eyez Killah!), will guest star in an early ’10 episode as Willie’s drag queen doppelganger, Wilhediva Hater.

Good, right? Wait, it gets better. READ FULL STORY »

Ratings: Football hot, 'Cold Case' not

Categories: Television, TV Ratings

Viewers reached for the comfort food of CBS’ 60 Minutes and NBC’s Minnesota-Arizona football matchup on a wintry Sunday night, according to early Nielsen estimates. NBC won the evening, as usual, thanks to Sunday Night Football; the Eye Net’s Cold Case, however, continued to fade, dropping 1.2 million viewers since its last airing. ABC’s Desperate Housewives, meanwhile, scored with its much-promoted plane crash episode, soaring up 2 million viewers since its last episode. During the rest of the weekend, CBS continued to reign on Friday on the strength of Ghost Whisperer (8.2 million), Medium (7 million), and Numb3rs (7.4 million); Fox’s Dollhouse earned its cancellation with a dismal 1.9 million, and The Jay Leno Show struggled, as usual, with 4.8 million.

Well, Alby Damned: 'Big Love' Gives Gay Villain a BF!

Categories: Big Love

Glambert’s AMAs make-out session was but a little blip on the gaydar compared to what Big Love has in store for season four: Alby (Matt Ross), the HBO soap’s closeted villain is about to go courting his first beau — oh, and controversy. Lots of that, too. READ FULL STORY »

Exclusive: 'FlashForward' creator David S. Goyer on the show's three-month hiatus and future

Categories: Television

Fans of ABC’s FlashForward are buzzing about last night’s episode—and especially what they learned about the about the immediate future of the series after the episode was over. The sci-fi drama’s fall finale was an eventful affair, and you can read my recap of it in our TV Watch section. But the meaty three-minute tease of the second half of the season was pretty provocative, too. For starters, there was the intimation that another global blackout event is looming. And then there was the revelation that the final 13 episodes of FlashForward’s first season won’t be returning in January as previously announced but rather in March. What happened? We caught up with FF co-creator and showrunner David S. Goyer (who also co-wrote Batman Begins and wrote the story for The Dark Knight) and asked him. READ FULL STORY »

This Just In: Ask Ausiello canceled!

Categories: Ask Ausiello

Oh, don’t freak out… Ask Ausiello has only been canceled for this week. It’ll be back next week when Mike returns from vacay. He asked me to remind you that he wasn’t around. Trying to rile you up by making it sound like AA was gone for good? That was all my idea. (Yeah, he trained me well.)

'Dancing with the Stars': Maks and Karina could both return in season 10

Early this morning, PopEater’s Naughty But Nice column posted a rumor that personal drama between Dancing With the Stars pros (and former couple) Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff could force producers to drop one of them before season 10. Reps for Maks, Karina, and DWTS all tell EW it’s not true.

According to a source at ABC, “The casting of professionals is determined by the casting of the celebrities, which is still in progress.” Chmerkovskiy’s rep corroborated: “Maks has a contract that  goes beyond season 10. As to if he’s coming back or not for next season, that always depends on casting.” Smirnoff’s rep called the one-or-the-other rumor “malicious,” and added, “Karina loves being on Dancing With the Stars and has a professional working relationship with Maksim. I can assure you that she has every intention of returning in the spring.”

Exclusive: Kristin Cavallari and Whitney Port talk the next seasons of 'The Hills' and 'The City'

EW was lucky enough to be on the scene at MTV studios last night for the live finale of The Hills and The City. The big news of the night was that the network has greenlit new seasons of both series, set to air on MTV in 2010 (The Hills goes back into production in early January while The City begins filming this week). The series’ respective stars, Kristin Cavallari and Whitney Port, chatted with EW about their decisions to continue letting cameras follow their lives. “I’ve had the best time—I really have,” says Cavallari. “I feel like I have the best job! Why not?!” The budding actress also says she’s no longer worried about being pegged as a reality TV star. “It’s like I’m in it now,” she admits. “I might as well keep going [laughs]!”

Meanwhile, the next season of The City will focus much more on Port’s attempt to succeed with her own fashion line. “That’s my reality,” says Port. “It’s where this collection is going to be sold, who we’re going to put it on, what magazines it’s going to be on.” We’ll also, of course, get a peak into Port’s social life and friendships. “Just Rox [Roxy Olin, Port's best friend and roommate] and I exploring the city together a little bit more and learning who we are.” And don’t forget dating cute boys. Says Port, “Hopefully! I would love that—yes!”

Ratings: NBC's 'Biggest Loser' is a winner in Jay Leno's slot

Categories: TV Biz, TV Ratings

President Obama’s address on Afghanistan interrupted Tuesday night’s 8 p.m. hour, after which CBS continued to pull in the highest average viewership with two repeats and The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Work it, girl (Give a twirl!) NBC earned the highest Adults 18-49 rating for the night by far, though, with a later-than-usual installment of The Biggest Loser that handily outperformed The Jay Leno Show‘s usual numbers from 10-11 p.m. Viewership for the debut of ABC’s revamped Scrubs fell off 33 percent from the series’ season 8 debut this January.
