Lafayette’s finally getting some.
As I first teased in Ask Ausiello, True Blood has been quietly searching for a hot thirtysomething Latino actor to play a love interest for Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) during the drama’s upcoming third season. Well, the search is over!
As first scooped by The Hollywood Reporter, the recurring role has gone to Southland‘s Kevin Alejandro.
Alejandro will play Jesus Velasquez, a good-natured Latino orderly who’s caring for Lafayette’s mother (played by Alfre Woodard).
Thoughts? Is Alejandro good boyfriend material for Lafayette? Sound off below!

I agree. I saw another photo on another site and he was way hotter. That picture is not doing him any favors. I can’t wait to see this storyline…it wasn’t in the books.

Wonder if this means he had to be let out of his Southland contract in case TNT decided to film more episodes? Or maybe that had already happened a long time ago when the producers decided to focus the show around only a few of the cops?

I thought he was pretty hot in “Drive” (yeah, I know almost no one even watched that show). Hasn’t wowed me in some other things, but since TB is all about making with the pretty, I’m giving this casting the thumbs up.

I fourth that. I loved him in Drive, Southland he was good, but he kind of disappeared in Sleeper Cell for me – I can’t remember him at all.

Same here. I could have sworn his mother was dead as well. Didn’t Tara’s mother say something about her poor sister’s grave may she rest in peace when Sookie said but Lafayette was her nephew (While at gunpoint?!?)

I thought the same as TB Season 1 has been repeating on HBO, Lafayette made a comment about swearing on his mother’s grave. IMO, that means the person is …dead. I guess the show can’t be bothered with details like that.
Lot’s of people swear on their mothers grave… it doesn’t actually mean they are dead.
I thought the first season Laf mentioned his mother was dead? I watched a marathon on On Demand on my days off from work last week. 6mos until season 6 begins!

I liked him on Ugly Betty too. As much as Ausiello loves Ugly Betty I thought he wouldh have said that in the article, because I didn’t recognize his name, because I don’t watch Southland.
He also was Anton V in Melrose Place and Santos (Justin’s dad) on Ugly Betty….pretty good resume

He was so sexy as Santos in Ugly Betty. I’m happy with the casting.

True Blood has been getting some good actors for the upcoming season. I haven’t given the show much of a chance (too many things on my TV schedule as it is), but I might have to watch a few episodes to see what it’s all about.
Also, I loved Kevin Alejandro on Ugly Betty. Really sad episode when Hilda fantasizes that he’s still alive.
I absolutely love Lafayette. It’s about time he got some love himself. Just not from Eric. Leave that for Sookie.

OMG! I literally screamed w/joy when I read his name. all i can think is how hott he is. he better work out if we r to expect shirtless scenes. I hope his presence on True Blood gives Southland the publicity it needs. I also hope that he can commit to do both shows coz a loss on Southland will b hurtful as I love the show more coz of how he gels with the other castmates on the show. Congrats to him though n yay for us fans. can’t wait to see him True Blood!
