Hey, Brennan: I think I’ve figured out the real reason your pa keeps disappearing for long stretches on Bones: The bastard’s got a secret life in Beverly Hills!
Sources confirm to me exclusively that Ryan O’Neal is taking his well-honed dysfunctional daddy act over to 90210, where he’ll play the super-famous movie star father of Trevor Donovan’s Teddy.
O’Neal will appear in multiple episodes, the first of which will likely air in April.
90210 returns from its midseason hiatus on March 9.
Thoughts?

I was thinking he’ll play Kelly’s father. Did we ever meet him?
We have met Kelly’s father several times in the original BH90210, Bill Taylor, who was in a couple of story that involved him being associated with shady practices and it ended up with him being taken to jail during one of the parties he threw for Kelly.
That’s not where it ended with Bill Taylor. He got out of jail in season 8 and came back to BH. He met Valerie’s mother and then stood her up at the altar – revealing to Kelly that he still hadn’t changed his ways.
We first met him in season 3, where he came to Kelly’s high school graduation. (He had stood her up earlier in the season when he had come to town).
We saw him again in season 6, played by a different actor. He was going to move to BH but bailed at the last minute, paving the way for Kelly’s drug addiction.
In season 7, we found Kelly’s dad had a whole ‘nother family, as we met Kelly’s half-sister. Then, in the season 7 finale, he threw Kelly and co. a huge graduation party. It was at that party that the deadline for him to turn himself in arrived. And then, as Amanda said, we saw him again in season 8.
Pretty sure the last time we saw him was in the season 8 finale (Brandon and Kelly’s bust of a wedding). But like Dylan’s father, Bill Taylor was once played by a different actor (in the s3 graduation episode). So they could easily bring back a different actor as Bill Taylor again. I don’t really see the point, though, as Kelly has barely been seen this season, and why bring in Bill Taylor when Mel Silver is still inexplicably AWOL?
This part was originally given to Corbin Berensen and then they (90210) took it back to give it to O’Neal. Promises obviously mean nothing in Hollywood.
WHAT?!??????
Where did you hear that, Luminosity?
Ew. Capitalizing on your own real-life boorish/cad-like/abusive/drug-addled mess of a persona? Stay classy, Ryan.
typecasting at its finest
Agreed. Totally Ick. Ryan was an OK actor back in the day, but his behavior lately has just completely taken over any talent he once had.
Hey, it’s working for the Jacksons; why shouldn’t O’Neal give it a shot?
I envisioned his dad as more Clooney/Pitt-esque than Ryan O’Neal. I guess since Teddy looks like he’s thirty himself they had to get someone who didn’t look more like a big brother. Weird casting all around, though, if you ask me.
Trevor/Teddy is 31. Not even Andrea was that old
And more importantly she didn’t look as old as she was. The Teddy guy can’t pass for a 25 year old, not to talk about a teenager
He is not 31 lol. Check your facts. IMDB has him being born in April ’83 putting him at 26. So yeah he’s older than high school age but not 31 lol.
oops disregard my previous message. I clicked the wrong person and you are right, he is 31.
Worth noting Michael Steger (Navid) is 29. Carteris was 29 when she started on the original.
but the stuff it’s they can’t cast someone like clooney or Pitt Trevor looks like almost the same age than Pitt so obviously they cast someone who has atleast 60 years old for that seems more real!
but it’s a bad cast too b/c When I gonna see trevor and his father I will not be sure who will play the father Trevor or Ryan!lol
Trevor why you’r not auditioned to be a teacher seriously this guy has 31 he should not play an highshooler!!!
At least they didn’t cast Ryan O’Neal as a teenager.
That was a good one Al. LOL!
lol that could happen with this show all is possible if they cast someone like trevor who has 31 years old to play a teeneger I’m sure they could be able to cast Ryan O’neal to play a student to the university hahaha!
Does anyone know if O’Neal will still appear on Bones from time to time??
My question too….
That dude is playing a teenager?! Uh… no!!!
Oh great, does this mean that all of the poor kids on this show will now go on to lives as crackheads. Ryan would be perfect to play Jack’s father on 30 Rock.
I hope he can still make occasional appearances on Bones. No matter what his personal problems are, he does a great job as Brennan’s dad.
Oh, he is so annoying! Well, with an annoying character comes an annoying dad.
totally agree with Manju I totally don’t care about Teddy’s father and teddy?
I would love some news about the main cast like liam, naomi, dixon, silver, annie, ade and navid
Thoughts? Good for Ryan! He had a HORRIBLE 2009 – he deserves some fun and new challenges. I just hope he doesn’t disappear completely from Bones!
I’m so pleased with this. Ryan O’neil is a star! and Teddy is my favorite character.
Maybe it will be revealed that Teddy is some sort of undercover something or other…then it would be ok for him to be 30
Oh yeh, O’Neal’s addition to 90210 is going to help that dead-in-the-water show. Might as well just prop Dick Clark up on the set and call him someone’s grandpa
I want him back on Bones!
