Okay, this is Chucking awesome.
Scott Bakula has signed on to reprise his role as Chuck’s spy daddy, Steve, for multiple episodes.
Pops was last seen in the season 2 finale fleeing daughter Ellie’s wedding reception for parts unknown.
Chuck exec producer Josh Schwartz calls Bakula’s comeback arc — which would fall at the end of the spy comedy’s third season (premiering this Sunday!) — “the biggest thing we’ve ever done on the show.”
Bakula is currently starring in TNT’s Men of A Certain Age. With production wrapped on that show’s first season, Bakula was free to return to Chuck.
Chucking awesome, right?

If they had tried to keep Chuck a secret spy for 5 years, that would have never worked. Putting the good Captain in the loop was a *awesome* idea. Bringing back Bakula (and I am not a fan of his) is an even better one. He was really good as the dad.
So great. ‘Chuck’ has some spectacular guest stars but Bakula takes the cake.

This made me laugh. There’s nothing like a good ‘Quantum Leap’ reference. I love Scott Bakula and think that he was amazing as Chuck’s dad. So glad he’s returning to the show.
You KNOW that everyone watching Chuck Versus the Dream Job was just WAITING for an “Oh Boy!” and was squealing like a schoolgirl when it happened.
