Not quite, but CW president Dawn Ostroff tells me she is feeling very optimistic about the show’s renewal odds. Read the full post.

Ugh. Why is the renewal even a question, Dawnie? It does better than the stuff on the weekdays.

    • Zoey

Really? Because The Vampire Diaries has been The CW’s top rated show this season.

  • Robin

No this fan has not been enjoying this season. I’ve been struggling to get through the season. Please just let it end.

    • Justme

Here is an idea if you don’t like the show don’t watch it. I am pretty sure there is better ways you can spend your Friday nights then bitching about a show you hate.

I personally don’t get the mentality if somebody dislikes a TV show that they want to see it cancelled. Do you honestly believe that the CW will put on a better product that will keep you at home Friday nights? If not then it’s best not to worry one way or another.

Why try to watch if you dislike a show? One word, ‘Hope’. The first few seasons, I loved it. My son and I would watch it religiously. Then, it started sucking. I’m loving season 9 and the only way I would’ve gotten to season 9 is by watching the seasons I disliked. Otherwise, no doubt, I’d be like, “Smallville is still on?” …and would’ve said it sucks due to stopping watching during at the a sucky season. I say let’s get season 10!!!!

    • Silent Rage

How about you just stop watching it, problem solved

      • Jenny

Hey Robin, I have a solution that will help you out. Just don’t watch it. If you check out the major Smallville fansites you’ll see that you are in the minority amongst the fans. So feel free to go away. We don’t need you.

  • Adam

Smallville’s done very well this season! Keep it up!

  • Nerwen Aldarion

Season 9 has been the strongest season yet. No truly horrendous episode, actually no bad episodes in my opinion. Episodes that should have been bad, have turned out to be surprisingly good (Rabid anyone?)and with the wonderful sparks flying between Clark and Lois, it is wonderful to see a show that is still great after 9 years.

  • Gabriela

and people wonder why Smallville fans hate Dawn O with guts. And Mariko stop spining the ratings drop is Lois foult, the only lady that its responsable for the ratings drop it Dawn and her will in killing the show putting it on the dead zone called Fridays. But she couldn’t so she is bitter (as some other “fans”) that the show is doing that well on this day (thansk to More Clark and less Chloe) that every part of the media is notcing it…Come on season 10!!! WB won’t allow Smallville to go..So get use to it

    • Mariko

There is actually less Clark in every episode, but at least you are acknowledging that there is a ratings drop. Progress.

      • Jess

A gold star to you for noticing there’s less Clark! Seriously though, maybe TW been a co-exec producer this season has something to do with that?

      • Gabriela

Because its FRIDAY..I love how convinient its to ignore that and blame the characters

      • Kelly

The screentime has been more spread out this year because the cast has been expanded. Justin Hartley, Erica Durance, Cassidy Freeman and Callum Blue all have at least 16-18 episodes this year vs. last year when the supporting cast had 12 episodes. This is a positive thing for the show. It allows for more cohesives plotlines and stories because we don’t have people vanishing for weeks on end. The story still revoles around Clark and I think every time Welling is on screen he’s amazing.

    • Gabriela

Jess he has more responsability, you probably wont see he as much in some episodes but at least the focus on him is there and all moves around him, Zod, Lois. Roulette was annoying because too much focus in Oliver…and Clark had nothing to do with it

  • MIke

End the show with some dignity left PLEASE! the only way I’m down for a 10th season is if it’s planned to be the last from the beginning. Lex returning wouldn’t hurt, in fact if he returned full time the show can stick around for as long as it wants as far as I care :)

  • anak!

goshh come on!! i stopped watching this show in its 4th or 5th season its sooo not good anymore…and hell no, its not fresh!! they’re already dealing with the ideas from the movies..i liked it when we has in highscholl when IT WAS smallville!!!

    • anak!

oops when he as in clark was in high school my bad!

    • Jenny

Okay, you said you stopped watching at around the 4 or 5th season? So how can you even speak on the 5th season??? That makes no sense!

    • Kelly

I think it’s hilarious that you just said you stopped watching in the 4th or 5th season and yet you seem to know so uch about it now. Do you know how stupid you sound? If you don’t watch the show then you clearly don’t have the credibility to comment on it. I would suggest shutting up before you make yourself look any more stupid.

  • Dominique

Yes, I hope season 10 will happen!! I had my doubts about season 9 for a while after season 8 ended, but it has been AWESOME so far.

  • Wanda Frye

    10 please!

  • taylorlittleton

ooohhhhhh please let smallville stay and if i dare say if anything should happen to it the cw can just rename it to the justice society and call it a spin off!

  • cecil

season 8 was the worst season of all, hope season 9 is better. will watch it when it hits dvd

  • laed

that god i want season 10 get soon i love show so much it been life

  • Ann

I’m loving Smallville this season. But Dawn Ostroff is always looking to kill the show.

  • Nicotine

    PLEASE LET THIS SHOW DIE!!!

I was really into Smallville for the first six seasons or so. Now it just hurts to watch. I still watch it, now, but it’s a shell of it’s former self. I think the biggest problem is that there is no real way to end the series, because everyone knows that Superman lives on. If there’s nothing better to replace it, then go for the 10th season, otherwise, I think it’s a bad idea.

    • Dave

Dear God, just shut up. If you don’t like it anymore then don’t watch it!! I stopped watching Heroes last season because I was no longer interested but I’m not campaigning for the show to die. If people are still enjoying it..more power to them! I wasn’t, so I maturely left. What the hell is your problem? Bottom line–shows change over time. They HAVE to change. This show couldn’t be the same show for 9 years and I think the changes have been POSITIVE. Clark is FINALLY growing up and maturing. I would love to see a SEason 10. ABsolutely love it. I’ll be with this show till the end.

      • Dano

Do not let this show die. The season’s been great. But what I don’t understand is if people don’t like the show or don’t watch it anymore, they should maybe, i don’t know, turn the Tv off or change the channel, instead of just wishing for the show’s death. I’m just now getting to see a grown, more mature Clark Kent and I would like to see a final 10th season.
