Martha Kent is winging it back to Smallville, and word is it’s not to dispense motherly advice.
Sources confirm to me exclusively that Annette O’Toole has inked a deal to reprise her role as Clark’s mom later this season.
Producers are still working out the exact timing of Martha’s reappearance, but a Smallville insider tells me it’ll most likely fall during May sweeps. That same source hints that the mother-son reunion will be rocked by an “unexpected surprise” or two.
O’Toole last appeared in season 6 when Martha moved to Washington to become a U.S. senator.

Ma Kent arrives with her new husband, General Lane… telling Lois and Clark they are now brother and sister and NOT allowed to date. Can’t wait. Right now in ALL of the Superman comics, General Lane is the VILLAIN who makes Lex Luthor look like a silly wimp. Even Lex Luthor never got Superman exiled from Earth.

We haven’t seen Perry White since he was a drunken reporter way back in an early season. About time HE made a reappearance before the series ends. In the comics and the movies, Perry and Lois are at the Daily Planet BEFORE Clark arrives.

Actually, Clark’s been frickin awesome ever since he stopped listening to Chloe and Oliver, who were the ones that d**ked him over in Season 8.
Clark’s been more mature, proactive and heroic this year than he’s been in a very long time. He’s not perfect and he’s still making some mistakes but he’s come a hell of a long way since the last time Martha was in town. My guess is she’ll be proud of how far he’s come. An asshole? Yeah, you just outed yourself as a bitter shipper. You’re just pissed bc he’s not having sex with the girl of your choice. Get over it. You’re so deluded that you can’t even see the show objectively anymore. The general sentiment throughout the web and fandom is that Season 9 has been a great year for Clark.

NOT TOO LATE NICK….I did the same thing, actually started watching Season 7 and 8 all last year. Now finally up to speed with S9, liking it even more without all the Clark, Lana and Lex triangle drama. Show’s getting better with CK finally at the Daily Planet with Lois Lane, embracing who he is a little more, understanding his destiny better, etc. So tune in and support the show….Friday nights @ 8pm on the CW Channel!

AGREED….Since she is supposedly still in office, her return will most definitely have to be “government related”. Can’t seem to guess on what the “surprise or two” could possibly be —unless it’s something personal on her end??? I’m also curious to hear what she has to say about Lois. Although, I’d like to think that he’s still “staying in touch” with his mom and letting her know things —or isn’t he?! This news just got me more excited —thanks for sharing Ausiello!
