Could Michael Rosenbaum be next?!
On the heels of my scoop that Annette O’Toole is returning as Ma Kent, executive producer Brian Peterson confirms to me exclusively that Smallville is also bringing back Michael McKean as Perry White at season’s end.
“We’re thrilled to have Michael back on the show,” says Peterson, “and to be able to link it with the anticipated return of Martha Kent is just a phenomenal way to gear up to the end of the season.”
Peterson also reveals that the iconic character’s latest trip through Smallville will bring him “closer to his destiny” than ever before, adding, “We finally get to see the legendary introduction between Perry White and the intrepid Lois Lane.”
O’Toole and McKean (who, as you know, are married in real life) will appear in this season’s penultimate episode (No. 21).

I agree with Melissa. Its Epic!!! totally sets up for a season 10. We’re getting closer and closer to Superman!!! Just get Michael Rosembaum to return for the Very last episode of the series and I will be able to say goodbye to smallville with hope and happiness!!!

I doubt Michael will return for a whole season (although that’d be awesome)… but I agree it doesn’t sound like an end at all. It makes sense they’d both return anyway (since they’re married in real life) plus it just sounds like an epic season finale. Here’s hoping for a better one than last year.
I just want a real “Superman” once again. I love Smallville and watch faithfully but it’s sickening to see KalEl getting his ass kicked every week. He needs more of the real superman attributes

Great news, this season has been really great and the new Justice Society promo looks incredible.
I agree Clark needs to not get beaten up every week but I don’t want him to become superman, not til the very end if ever. This show is about Clark before superman, I like how they are building up the superman character but this is smallville, not the superman movies. It would be soo boring if it were just another movie. It’s about the story of superman, not superman.
I really hope that there is another season, or even just a part season. This one is already half-way through and unless they start wrapping some things up now or push the story sooner than they should there is going to be a lot of loose ends.
As for Martha and Perry, I am stoked beyond belief!! I’ve been missing Martha since she left, I just decided to look up if she was coming back and when I found she was my insides screamed for joy. I’d like Lex to come back too. Man I hated him at times but it’s Lex, he is a love to hate character.

Bruce won’t be on SV because of the movies being made. That’s the same reason there has not been a Wonder Woman appearance(scrip recently cancelled), real Flash mention (movie in plans). Instead we get the nickname Impulse and a wonder woman costume for Lois the week after Absolute Justice
BTW, i don’t think super lana would get hurt by a truck due to her condition u.u
This season, Smallville hasn’t been “desperate for renewal,” it’s been pretty terrific. Smallville had so-so seasons, but this isn’t one of them. It sounds like they’re lookin’ to rap things up in season 10 with Superman as we know “him.”

You know what? It is not a desperation for renewal but THE SHOW IS WHAT IT SHOULD BE – Complete characters of the mythos – perry white, lois, clark, martha, perhaps jimmy and lex!
Producers should have done these gazillion years ago!

I’d like it if McKean stayed on as the new editor. I can see the big news with AoT now … she and Perry are dating. I don’t care about cannon with this show anymore. Basically I see it as DV ‘Elseworld’, so let the characters date.

Yeah.. When(if…)Michael Rosenbaum returns (He BETTER!!!!!)We all know that the show will end. But Hell…What an ending it will be! Its the way the show HAS to end: Perry At the D.P. with Lois, Clark, and Jimmy. Lex returns with a vengeance, Martha Returns to the farm, and they have to figure out something to do with Chloe….Is she gonna die or not?
Praise the “Lords of the scripts”! At last it’s all coming together! Can’t wait! Martha Kent AND Perry White! Thank you so, so much Smallville!! And yes, Michael’s return would be the bright cherry on top, but I think it’s not gonna happen this season… But that would be a great end to a 10th Season, right? I like to think so! (sigh…)

Intrepid? Please. I was hoping Perry would clean up the Grand Old Lady that was once the DP.
But I’m guessing this really means there is no s10; this feels like a series ending line of guest stars.
Let me guess — bitter Chloe fan reporting for whining duty. You guys are the only ones always carrying on about how the DP is ruined and needs to be restored to glory. Give it up.

This SCREAMS final season to me.
Unless the STORY/PLOT is about the DP actually getting away from the Inquisitor arc it has been under since Grant/Lex/Tess/Ambiguous Ollie then this casting stunt will not bring in the viewer that TPTB hope for.
If they haven’t figured it out that most their audience actually CARES about certain things and prefer good stories over stunts every time they turn, their rating will continue to be abysmal and male.
I hope in the next month when they SEE who is their true audience they GET A CLUE.
Hoshi, what the hell are you talking about? Season 9 has been EXTREMELY well received. Bottom line…Annette wouldn’t be coming back if it wasn’t. She was fed up with that show when she left at the end of Season 6. It says a LOT about the show taht she’s coming back with McKean. The show is doing great and the ratings are very solid for a Friday night. The majority of the Smallville fandom (minus the CRAZIES) are very pleased with the show. If you aren’t then don’t let the door hit you on the way out

It cracks me up that you guys seem to think that not actually mentioning Chloe by name somehow keeps your obvious and bitter agenda hidden. It doesn’t, what with how you’ve spent the better part of the last two seasons terrorizing every Internet message board you can find with all the whining about how the show is ruined because Chloe’s not the center of attention/acting as Clark’s brain/being set up for the reveal that she’s the real Lois Lane or whatever other silly thing you think she’s entitled to. Like I said upthread, one of the telltale signs of bitter Chloe fans is when you roll out this nonsense about how the DP is ruined and no longer taken seriously as a bastion of good journalism. You guys are as transparent as glass and as annoying as a canker sore.

DP didn’t have much ethics in the series. The Luthor’s ruled it even before S7. And in S6 DP was printing the gossip Clexana triangle in S6 long before Grant/Lex/Tess had any control over it. But atleast now there are some real stories being worked on.
I never get how people who are trying to paint the DP to be corrupted conviently leave out how Lionel basically bought Chloe a job at the end of S2, and don’t have issues with that like they do with later season stuff. I personally don’t fault Chloe/DP in that case(nor do I claim that it was the producers intention in any case to tell me the DP was corrupted) but it seems like some people cherry pick story points and put the most negative spin on it to try fit what they want to see on the show, then get angry when the show isn’t showing them the story they came up in there heads

well dudes and dudettes, i think that all that everyone should be asking for is an awesome season with lots of surprises and expectations to look forward too.
so why don’t everyone quit whining and have a little patience because the wait isn’t gonna get any quicker.
so unless you can run faster than a speeding bullet, wait for it and before you know it, there it will be.
