Coco, we’ll see you at FOX. Leno, I’d rather watch an monkey take a dump at the zoo before I’d watch your rehashed Tonight Show. And NBC, you better thank God that you have The Office for now because I would be boycotting your network. Conan took the high road (of course there are $33 million reason why). Great last show.
I’m going to miss The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien. It was good while it lasted.
Shame on you Leno, shame on you!
SHAME ON “NBC”!!! Get off Jay’s back!! “CO CO” was never funny to me. I really tried to tune in to his show, but the guest were not so great or anything else on the show. This week it inproved, but too late. Maybe it was NBC’s fault!Didn’t give him much to work with till the end! Sad–Shame on NBC !! Listen people, $35,000,000 would mend my broken heart!!!
ANNIE, if you didn’t find Conan funny, that’s fine. Most of the people have who like Leno have sort of a safe, bland sense of humor. Again, that’s fine. But if for a second you really think Leno is innocent in all of this, you are just naive. Conan is off the air becuase the affiliates wanted NBC to cancel LENO’s show. In other words, Leno’s failure has taken Conan off the air. If Leno had done well, Conan would still be hosting the Tonight Show. But no, Leno sucks, and apparently has no problem with taking a show from someone (twice!)
why are people blaming jay leno?
conan didn’t make it in the ratings and the network didn’t make any money from the show. Thay use to make about 20 mil when leno hosted the show and he was #1 in the ratings for the last 12 years
the blame falls on the network
thay should not have removed leno in the first place
just stop. it’s all been said a billion times already.
leave anytime.
Becuase Conan isn’t off the air becuase of HIS ratings, he’s off the air becuase of Lenos. IT was to be expected that Conan would need some time to build a steady uadience at 11:30 (it took Leno 3 years to start beating Letterman when he first started). There was no talk of Conan being let go. Then Leno’s show bombed and the affiliated demanded it be canceled. But they needed something to do with Jay. THAT is why Conan lost his job – cuz Leno;s ratings were bad at 10. It’s complete BS, How can you defend that?
They are blaming him because he said he was retiring in 2004. Then he didn’t so NBC looked for a replacement, and they sign Conan for another 5 years. Then Jay pulled a Brett Favre and decide he didn’t want to leave. I would be pissed if i got promised a promotion at my job then it was taken away because someone decided not to retire after they said they would. Conan left with class tonight.
*sigh* I have grown up watching Conan, from staying up late and sneaking down to the family room to watch the Late Show, to having a crush on my trumpet teacher, solely because he looked like Conan, and now watching the Tonight Show with my Irish husband. I’ll miss you Conan. Seven months will be way too long.
We’ll see ya in another life brotha’.
NBC: No Brains at the Constant speed of light. Conan was the best Late night host and he will be sorely missed in the next few months. When he returns for HIS new “Tonight” show, he will again reach the pinnacle and leave the other two boors in the dust. Go Conan!
Go Coco! What a classy guy. I can’t wait to see what he does next!
Conan is a classic, we have all been in his position in some way (especially being let go during these times) I think that’s why his story especially stuck a cord because we have seen his struggle, his success and his failure.
On the bright side, it’s nice that I’ll only be flipping between Letterman and Colbert from now on.
Thanks for everything, Conan… I’m sure we’ll see you soon.
His ending monologue made me tear up – he is class and grace personified and definetly the bigger man in this situation. I, being infinetly more petty
hopes that he goes on Letterman March 1st.
I loved the ‘To Be Continued….’ at the end of his clip montage – and I can’t wait for his new show!
Yeah it made me cry too. Cry with joy and do a little happy dance that he is gone
Yeah…now you get Leno back! An hour of guaranteed laughter-free hackwork every night of the week!
Enjoy your also-ran, douche. You deserve him.
Conan, I will always remember the first article I read about you in Rolling Stone, I always thought you were the coolest!!! I feel like I grew up with you, and you were the cool older brother I never had. I will miss you on “Tonight” and look forward to your next venture. I know NBC will soon regret their decision, oh well. They do suck. YOU are the classiest!
Speaking as Mrs. (In my Head) Conan O’Brien, I loved Conan from day one and will follow him wherever he lands…even if it is Tom Hanks bedroom or a 7 Eleven parking lot.
In other words, what you’re saying is that he might need to consider a restraining order?
It’s true I’m a Conaholic! They say the first step is admitting you have a problem.
classy in the end, yes. but not all the time. although it’s not right what’s happening to Conan, this is probably the right BUSINESS decision for NBC. NBC should’ve let Conan go 5 years ago so they wouldn’t have had this fiasco now. NBC made bad decisions and now wannabes and dedicated Conan fans spite Leno for just wanting to tell jokes. Leno didn’t take the Tonight Show from Conan, NBC did, well the time slot anyways. when Leno had the Tonight Show, Leno knew how to get ratings and Conan didn’t. granted, Conan is good at rebounding from bad jokes… real good, but not good enough to tell jokes to get ratings. according to the ratings, whatever network Conan ends up on, his jokes didn’t come close to Letterman’s and certainly won’t come close to Leno’s. overall, it’s definitely sad of what NBC is doing to Coco, but in the end, it’s all BUSINESS… and don’t hate on Leno for wanting to work, that is not classy.
You are a fool, but I’m so sick of pointing out the holes in the “Dont lame Leno” arguments. None of you people use your heads before you speak
stop, just stop. Your vocabulary is rather limited and the level of stupid hurts the human brain.
This is an immature bunch, Jake. If your opinion differs from theirs, they must resort to name-calling.
Leno tells jokes?
I have such amazing respect for such a humble, genuine, and fantastic man, even more so after tonight than i already did, which is really saying something since i have loved him since i was 13 yrs old. there are no words that can express my reaction to his closing statement. he is a wonderful person, and i laughed and teared up throughout his entire final episode. when conan got choked up talking about his fans’ support, i literally cried. god bless ya mr. conan o’brien, i cannot wait until you are back on television, tonight’s episode was one of the best all around things i have seen on TV.
