Looks like it’s getting serious between Hilda and Bobby.
Ugly Betty has tapped Lainie Kazan (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) and Nestor Serrano (24) to play Bobby’s Italian parents, Dina and Anthony, sources confirm to me exclusively.
Hilda meets her potential in-laws in this season’s 15th episode when she hosts a get-to-know-you dinner in their honor. Her mission (aside from, you know, getting to know them)? To find out if there’s any truth to rumors that Bobby’s dad has ties to organized crime. Unfortunately, the dinner does nothing to allay her fears.
As of now, Kazan and Serrano are booked for one episode, although I’m told they could return later in the season.

@ srw — ITA, and I wish that they could see, even though they are in a profession and in a town where youth is worshipped, that IT DOES NOT MAKE YOU LOOK BETTER, IT DOES NOT MAKE YOU LOOK YOUNGER, IT JUST MAKES YOU LOOK DIFFERENT, and not in a good way. And why does Heidi want to look like Tori Spelling, anyway? Tori is easily the most unattractive celebrity in the business. But they all think they look good! And it (their plastic faces) just gets worse and worse as they age! But look how young and how gorgeous Susan Sarandon looks, you can tell that NOT having all that done is so much more flattering in the long run.
Yes, her lips are too plumped and the under-eye tightening isn’t natural looking, but otherwise, a little filler and a bit of botox can look great. If that is what makes a person feel good about themselves, so be it.
Yes, Linda, you’re right, with key words being “little” and “bit”. But too many overdo it and they look just awful. I wasn’t commenting on how it makes them feel about themselves, but how it makes them look. And too often it makes them look either really freakish or like the Joker on Batman (and looks worse and worse as they age).
I just read on another site that Liza Minelli will be playing a drama teacher at Justin’s school. That sounds like good casting!
She’s too famous to play someone else–especially someone like Justin who most likely idolizes her already… JMHO

Since Lainie is going to be 70 this year, I think she looks incredible. Glad she was chosen for this part.
How is it that a PR (1/4 Cuban) playing on a show about Hispanics who looks Hispanic and no where near Italian play an Italian? That makes no sense!

Cool — they’re both good. Although, I usually don’t think age in real life matters when you are playing a character, but it’s a real stretch this time. Bobby is supposed to be what, early to mid 30′s at the most? Nestor’s 55, so that works, but Lainie’s 70, so that seems a little off.
Bobby is Italian in UB..Remember in the fist epesode where Hilda said I heard the mob runs that bar> And Bobby said my family runs it. ” Italians and Latino’s” can look alike do to the meditreanian/mocha skin tone. Such good looking people.
