'Survivor,' 'The Amazing Race' picked up for another season

Filed under: Television and tagged: ,

As expected, CBS announced today that it has ordered two more cycles of Survivor, which will celebrate its 20th edition Feb. 11 with the much-anticipated Heroes Versus Villains. Survivor is now the longest-running reality competition series. Meanwhile, the network also gave a thumbs-up to a 17th edition of The Amazing Race — the 16th season returns Feb. 14 with 11 teams of two that include Big Brother’s Jordan Lloyd and Jeff Schroeder.

No word yet, however, on whether Survivor host Jeff Probst will sign on for the 21st and 22nd editions. The contract for the two-time Emmy winning host is up this season.

It wouldn’t be “Survivor” without Jeff. If Probst is out, so am I.

      I understand there’s a certain red-haired tall guy available…

If Coco gets on board [then] I would start watching Survivor (I’m an Amazing Race kinda gal). Go Team Coco!

      • Mollly Catherine O’Brien

        He’d burn in two minutes…

    • Ryan

      agreed

    • BT

      You’ll still watch. Don’t front.

      • Michael

I will. And I want YOU to know this made my day.

      • Lisa

        You guys crack me up!

Cool news! Now is there also someway that they can start filming the Amazing Race in HD too? Has the tech advances made it easier to provide each team’s film crew with a portable HD camera yet?

actually I love Jeff Probst as a host but there are a lot of other people who could do a good job and perhaps bring something new to the table.

I think Coach from last spring would make a great host for example

I’m over Jeff. He influences the game too much, and he often likes the wrong players (Gravedigger James and his lack of gameplay) and ignores or belittles strong femal competitors (PG).

Agreed.. He’s a little sexist.. But the show won’t be the same without Jeff..

      • ZZZ999

I agree that he does do influence the game a lot in the last few seasons. Talking to them all so much before the vote. Why not stir up all that stuff after they vote?
He never used to influence it that much.
I really like reading his blogs though!

YAY!!!! Amazing Race is still my favorite show.

Please Jeff Probst sign a new contract… But ALSO change your lines once a while.. It’s getting tired hearing the same lines at TC/challenges..
    pretty please.. :)

Love Jeff but would probably watch anyway would love to see that pale as a ghost Conan try to host he’d be blistered the whole shoot

  • Matheus

Conan should host… add some humor to the show.

  • Avery

Jenna Morasco would be a great host! Jeff is a great host, and despite what people may say, he does not influence the game one bit

  • John Berggren

I think if Jeff didn’t reup his contract, the next logical choice would probably be Colby Donaldson.

Remember when a season consisted of 24+ episodes. Now a season can be as little as 10 shows. Sounds like padding to make a show sound like its been forever. And now reality “stars” pop up on more than one show. Can’t they find new faces or are these shows producers just getting lazy?

  • Zakry

Jeff does bring a certain flavor to Survivor, but he is not bigger than the game. The show would be fine without him — but its all moot, he’d never leave.

  • OSCAR

LEAVE JEFF A LONE HE STARTED THE SHOW LET HIM FINISH WHAT HE STARTED. HE DOES A GREAT JOB AT HOSTING ALL THE EPISODES. IT WOULD BE ASHAME TO LOSE HIM.
