I LIKE THIS….I LIKE….I LIKE….NCIS finally getting a well deserved Fan Base…and starting to push age boundaries…..even my younger neices and nephews are hooked on both NCIS series.

Oh by the way…they prefer NICS over American Idol…now what does that say??

love the fact that NCIS is gaining on Idol [2]

    NCIS rocks!

  • Ratings Reality

NCIS is not gaining on Idol and neither is any other show. Like it or not Idol and reality tv are here for the long haul. The Bachelor, DWTS, Survivor, America’s Funniest Home Videos, and Extreme Home Makeovers all have been on forever. And they still draw big ratings especially where it matters most for the networks, demos. Heck, even MTV is making out like a bandit with the success of its ultra cheap Jersey Shore series. Pay (7 kids) a couple of hundred dollars a week, rent them a house, and pay for their meals, let them run loose for the first time in a college kid hangout setting and BAM, 5 million viewers later you’ve got a cable tv mega hit, it’s raining dollars, and your network is prominent again. As sad as it may sound, the reality is Idol and a train wreck load more of these shows dominate their timeslots.

What about if you tivo AI and watch NCIS. Who wins then? That’s what I do. If I had to miss one though – I would pick NCIS over AI every time.

NCIS is simply the best crime drama on TV. 20 plus million people have discovered that all by themselves, in spite of the media and critiques ignoring the show. Michael Weatherly must be the most underrated actor on TV – how he doesn’t get nominated for any awards is a mystery to me. The guy is simply brilliant.

I heard a while back that NCIS has been referred to as the “Idol Killer,” because it was always able to hold onto a strong top ten spot in the ratings, even when going against Idol. NCIS has been steadily gaining (with the exception of the fourth season) for a while now. I used to refer to the show as that top 10 show no one’s heard of because critics and CBS itself put so little time into talking about it or promoting it. Thanks to USA and its constant reruns that are continuously getting more people on board, NCIS is finally getting the attention it deserves.
