Exclusive: 'Castle' pairs Dana Delany with a Hero

Tags: , News

Desperate Housewives‘ Dana Delany will have some backup when she crosses over to Castle later this season.

Ex-Heroes star Leonard Roberts has been cast as the partner of Delany’s kick-ass federal agent character, sources confirm to me exclusively.

In the two-part episode, the first of which is conveniently scheduled to air immediately following Housewives on March 21, the feds (a.k.a. Delany and Roberts) are brought in to assist Castle and Beckett on a serial killer case. The conclusion airs the following night in Castle‘s regular Monday-at-10 timeslot.

In related news, ABC — no doubt encouraged by Castle‘s season-high ratings on Monday — just increased the show’s episode order from 22 to 24.

It’s official: This thing’s a hit!

Yay! I missed Monday’s episode but heard it was amazing. Sarah Brown – best known for Carly on GH guest starred! :) Wish ABC had as much faith in Ugly Betty as it does with Castle. Both shows are amazing.

It was great, check it out on Hulu

      • boomershookup

        This looks good!

    • pop

she was there for like two seconds and looked strangely different.

    • Karen

I thought she played Claudia on gh? Yea she did look diff cause of her hair color.

      • BeaAnn

She started on GH as Carly, left the show and when she came back it was as Claudia with dark hair. She is a fabulous actress.

  • Lisa

My favorite show, and with Castle’s writers it will no doubt be a great two-parter!!!

  • Vickif

Love this show. Glad to see added episodes.

  • ptvj

This show is amazing. The last three episodes really rock. Can’t wait to hear about season 3 renewal.

    • Grammy Snook

From you lips to God’s ears. I haven’t enjoyed a show this much in years!

  • Nerwen Aldarion

I always love good news for Castle!!!

  • Aaron

    Absolutely love this show!

  • EveatEden

woohoo more castle is a good thing! Keep em coming and renew them for next year already. Screw this bubble show madness.

    • Nerwen Aldarion

      No arguments here

    to Ally:

ABC did have much faith in UB but the fact is after the first season its ratings have been love. they kept it on for another 3 years. CASTLE had a 3.0 this Monday, UB had been getting noe higher than a 1.6

    • Nerwen Aldarion

Exactly, Castle was a show that started off with low numbers and has been gaining steadily all year. Unfortunately UB just didn’t get a ratings boost it needed.

  • Chris

I wonder if the two extra episodes were made possible when ABC cancelled Ugly Betty and shortened their season by two episodes?

    • castiella

If so, it was a good trade.

  • evelyn27

I loved Leonard on Heroes! He was one of the few who actually died a ‘Hero’ and while the show was still good. I know I’ll be watching.

    • Heather

I really liked DL too!!! So good he’s getting some work now.

  • ggny

good for Leonard ive liked him since he guest on season 4 of Buffy…The man should get a regular role on a tv show imo

    • bdoll

i loved him on buffy. so glad to see him on tv again especially opposite one of my other fave whedonverse actors.

  • CandyMaize

*happy dancing* 2 more eps!! Thi is great sign for renewal possibilities :)

  • julie

fillion in a well-deserved hit at last! hooray!

  • leola

Castle just makes me happy. Funny, intriguing and perfect casting of the whole show.

  • Jen

I love this show! But I can’t be the only one who would never have watched it if Nathan Fillion wasn’t the main character, can I? If it wasn’t for him it would have just been another crime/murder mystery drama and I would have rolled my eyes and never watched.

    • castiella

I’m with you, Jen. Nate Fillion MAKES this show for me. Long live Captain Tightpants!

    • Kate

Nathan Fillion may have brought me in but it’s the writing that kept me watching. And the supporting cast is great.

Overall one of the best shows on TV.

    • redeye

Came for the Fillion. Stayed for the great cast chemistry and sharp writing. It’s all good!

    • browncoat

no, ma’am! love fillion. always! if mal reynolds is there, so am i!!!

    • ElleDee

Tuned in because of the Promo last year – fell in love with the show and Mr. Fillion. Then there wasn’t enough to satisfy – Firefly/Serenity, Drive, Buffy S5, Desperate Housewives, Slither, White Noise 2, Waitress … now there is more Castle and Trucker. Almost got ODST just for NF. Have to say if it were not for NF on Castle, it would be hard to see me staying with the show. Would watch that man read the phone book – seriously. More Castle – YEAH!

      • Darrin

I comletely agree, Nathan really is the drawing factor, but the whole show from script to cast is awesome to watch.

Elle-Dee, how did you see Drive? It’s not available anywhere I could find. If you have a source, would love some help with that!

    • Leslie

I absolutely only started watching it because of Nathan Fillion. As a rule I don’t watch any crime/law/medical shows at all. Nathan makes the show and the rest of the cast is perfect for the. It’s not a dark and dreary crime drama which, I think, makes it stand out. Also, Nathan Fillion really IS ruggedly handsome!

      • fireflywasodd

Didn’t come for Nathan. I started watching because of the interplay between Stana and Nathan. Firefly died a slow death for a good reason…..odd show. This show rocks and uses both actors strengths to just explode off of the screen. Nathan plays silly well and Castle is made for him! Stana plays sexy well because the woman drips sexy……all in all it is the team that makes this show, not the space cowboy alone!
