finally things are getting interesting….the only thing that has been interesting about Smallville the last few seasons (for me) is the changing relationship between Lois and Clark (LOVE IT! :D ). I can’t wait to see what happens in the future to Smallville.

    • Emme

I think Season 8 was a huge improvement over Seasons 6-7. Season 9 has been light years ahead of the last few previous seasons though. I stepped away from the show for a while during Season 7 but I’m back now and firmly invested now until the end. Thank God they finally got it right. Looking forward to the movie.

      • Ange

I think Season 9 brought much needed (and long overdue) maturity to the show. It’s been nice to see Clark finally be independent and mature. He’s not perfect yet. He still makes mistakes for sure but he’s getting there. Oliver’s downward spiral was also an interesting subplot and Zod has been a great villian this year. Looking forward to seeing where they take him in the future. Clark’s relationship with Lois has been joyful—something that I’ve never been able to say about a relationship on this show before. It’s just refreshing to finally see Clark smile and be happy while still keeping up his other persona of saving people. He’s not Superman yet…but he’s damn close and it’s been a pleasure to watch this season. This movie looks great. Great trailer.

I agree Season 9 has been refreshing to see, I wish the show runners hadn’t wasted previous seasons full of angst with Clark and actually developed his character. But hey this season has brought me back and I’m really enjoying it. And for the first time I’m actually enjoying Clark’s love life. Clark is suppose to be a role model for people not a mopey guy who cries about his love life in his barn.

      • MattyB

ITA too! I also left the show for a few seasons, but I’m back and loving it this year. For all the things mentioned and so well described above and below me. I especially love Zod as a villain and all the great Lois & Clark stuff.

      • Matt

You’re right! I think the show hit a lull around Season 6/7…those season didn’t progress Clark at all. Season 8 definitely picked up where Season 5 left off regarding Clark. Season 9 has just been great, definitely better than season prior too.

      • boomershookup

        Wow, cool movie

    • Janice

hate it. the chemistry between Lois and Clark is weak…Now the chemistry between Clark and Lonna was wonderful. Bring her back!!!

      • Ralph

If only Kristen Kruek could act!

      • Shane

i found all the clark and lana moments really cheesy and cringeworthy maybe chicks dig that kind of stuff, i dunno i found it really sappy and really emo at times. lois and clark are just relaxed and have great chemistry. maybe its in the eyes of the beholder but im enjoying this relationship more maybe its because clark isnt a big baby anymore.

      • maria

im a chlark fan so my loyalty lies there but i personally find lois and clark more appealing then clana.

      • Mary

        Umm…It’s LANA…

      • Mary

        Not Lonna….

      • Ian

I find the less with the relationship stuff the better but I guess you have to appease the female audience. I find the lois/clark relationship more real then the others, the whole Lana stuff was getting old after Season 3.

      • Mary

Well, first off her name is Lana. I can tell you were a HUGE Fan. You don’t even know her name. Second, chemistry, as with many things on Tv, is subjective. Personally, I found Clark and Lana annoying and boring but I enjoy Clark and Lois together. I like that she makes him smile and laugh and I like that Clark finally seems to have found his sex drive. (I was wondering if he had one for a while there…LOL) But to each their own I guess

      • Joe C.

Ian, I’m a man and I enjoy the relationships. Don’t stereotype. Maybe it’s because I’m a married guy myself and I appreciate what my wife has brought to my life. Bottom line–relationships are a part of the Superman myth. An imporant part. They are what bring the heart to the story. Without them it’s just a story about a god like man who can fly and fights bad guys…which might be enough for some….but for me it’s the emotions that make the heroics have some meaning in the end. I don’t want the show to become a soap opera (as it often was with Lana on the show) but I appreciate the nice storyline between Clark and his future wife. Love is what makes life worth while even for a superhero. :)

      • Ian

I totally agree Joe, maybe I didn’t really say or word it right but I meant to say was that I hated the way smallville portrays relationships as you said as a soap opera like they did with Lana. Thats why I’m enjoying the Lois and Clark relationship this year and since Season 4 because as i said above its real, with real emotion. It often seemed like clark was forcing his love thus making it soap opera-ish and as someone said really cheesy.

      • Joe C.

Ian, it’s cool. I totally get what you are saying and we are on the same page. I totally agree about Clark and Lois. It comes across very real. I found all those over the top declarations and melodrama in the early seasons to ring very insincere. (The most sincere relationships in the early seasons was between Clark and his parents if you want my opinion. THAT was very sincere.) Maybe I’m just speaking from my own perspective with my wife, but sometimes real life just sneaks up on you. You don’t always have the perfect words. You just wake up one day and realize that you can’t live without someone and you realize that your life is better with that person in your life than it ever was without her. That’s the way it was for me. Once I woke up and realized how I felt about my wife I never looked back. That’s the kind of vibe I got from Smallville this year and I liked it. It’s mature and fun and it’s sexy. That’s the kind of relationship that can turn me in a softy. :)

      • Natasha

If you preder moping and unnecessary angst over a mature, happy relationship where Clark is actually confident, bold, and smiles when he’s with her, then yes Clana was better /end sarcasm.

      • Marc

I think it’s part of the maturing of the character. Clark was just like every other teen and everything was overly-dramatic. I liked Lana – the actress, as well as the character – but they were on when Smallville did the ‘Romeo/Juliet’ thing filled with angst, longing, and hopeless frustration. Couple that with the knowledge that you knew they wouldn’t end up together and just wondered how it would end, affected folks’ perception of their relationship. Clark had chemistry with both characters – and actresses – but they each represent different phases of his life & maturity.

My post high-school relationship was different b/c I was different and that doesn’t necessarily mean it was b/c the girl was ‘better’ than the previous one.

I thought the writers gave Lana a dignified exit but I do miss her character – you have to admit, beyond her obvious beauty, Lana was a loyal & noble friend to Clark and Chloe.

Kristin Kreuk just entered as a character on “Chuck” and she did a great job & yes, she seems to be the “triangle” interest on the show, but she’s doing it VERY well and she contributes to the show. I like her too, Janice! =)

      • Sandy

I couldn’t stand Lana from the very first. It didn’t get any better when she married Lex. I was so glad when they finally got rid of her. Her whining about her parents that died years ago got old really quick. Poor little princess. I lost my parents when they were both killed. I missed them a lot, I still do, but I didn’t go around moping and feeling sorry for myself 10 years after their death. Life goes on. I think part of the problem that the writers had was that they made Lana the ‘victim’ too much. Personally, I found Chloe much more interesting strong character in the early days.

But for the grown up Clark, Lois will always be the ‘one.’ She’s strong and sassy. Clark can be partners with her. She can hold her own, but also be ‘rescued’ when needed.

      • patty

lonna? never heard of her haha

      • Jen

The minute Lois became a part of smallville I became happy after all SHE IS THE WIFE!!!!! As a superman fan I’m so happy to see it moving more towards the comic and away from the teen stuff, after all he is comin up to age 25 now,…say isn’t that when superman appeared??????? hint massive big hint to the writers!!!!!!!!

    • Strepsi

      4 words:
      MORE HEROES.
      LESS SHIRTS.

      • Fridge

        I couldn’t agree more.

      • Mels

        LOL! Love your 4 words

    • scott berry

i love smallville i have followed it from day one and it rock’s i can’t wait till clark learns to fly damnit come clark aka superman let’s go bro

    • Mark

I concur. This season is focusing way too much attention on Oliver Queen/Green Arrow. They should just spin him off into his own show already! And change the name of the show to “Metropolis” since it hardly ever takes place in Smallville anymore!

  • Don

That look awesome! I cannot wait to see it next week!

  • tyson

That is one HELL of a trailer! Thank you Ausiello! I can’t wait for this!

  • peter

This has to be the best season ever for Smallville…. Season 9 has kicked butt cant wait to see this!

    • mishka

Amen to this. You would think Smallville would get a well-deserved EW cover..? Tsk, tsk, tsk. They’re only interested by twatlight…*sigh*

      • jordan

as long as smallville gets a 200th episode EW cover, i will be okay

      • Jen

Mishka, everyone is intrested in Twatlight these days….I have a few words for them BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER…. cause lets face it Team Edward has nothin on Team Angel….oh and Angel has noithing on Team Clark but thats a whole new thing to talk about :)

  • Allie

    ::fangirl squee::
YAY!!!! I’m so psyched for this!!!! It’s going to be EPIC. Thanks Ausiello!

  • Pop

    Thank you! Looks great :)

  • harry

    Sickness all around!

  • W0NK042

More of a teaser than a trailer, but I have to agree: Looks like things are finally going to step-up in Smallville (& it takes Michael Shanks to do it: Please give him SOME kind of show, of his own).

  • stacymac

AWESOME….Thanks so much for sharing Ausiello! Definitely made up for it quite a bit, even just in 30sec. Should definitely get fans more excited, I just got the chills watching, too. Really can’t wait! Since Geoff Johns wrote this, and we know what kinds of stories he writes, it’s gotta be good! The countdown is on, one week to go!

    • patty

      geoff johns = genious

  • Allie

BTW, in case anyone was wondering, the music is “Fearless” by Brand X music. :D Good times. I believe they also used it for the trailer for “Odyssey”(8×01)last season.

    • Ben_ reilly

thanks man! i was just abaout to ask if anyone knew the name of the song:)

  • jason

as a guy im glad to see smallville is more about clark rather then his sidekick chloe, last season sucked because of her… but smallville has definitely turned the page and is delivering some great episodes this season. keep it up smallville! cant wait to see this

    • Glenda

No truer words were ever spoken!

    • mike

i agree i gave up on smallville when lex left but im back on the bandwagon this season. enjoyed the 9 episodes so far and im really enjoying the character zod. doomsday was an epic fail for sure

  • Liz

all i can say is SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!

  • Allie

Oh, JK, not Odyssey, Legion. Haha. Apparently guest superheroes just screams “Fearless”

  • tyson

I’ve watched this about 10 times already… it’s that excellent. I just wished they had shown a clip of Amanda Waller! I want to see how Pam Grier portrays her!

    • Matt

I’ve watched it many times too!

  • Commander El

Why the hell is Martian Manhunter carrying guns?

    • jason

if i recall i think MM lost his powers

      • Allie

Yeah, he lost them when he saved Clark in Odyssey. He flew Clark to the sun to heal him, but the sun has the opposite effect on him. :D
