That said, what is up with Dr. Fate’s voice? Sounded robotic.

    LOVE IT!

  • Sam

    EPIC!!!

Holy crap! Now THAT is a trailer! Waaaay better than any of the other efforts the CW has released as of late. Man, I am super pumped for this.

    • Matt

Hopefully the CW will air this trailer all next week. It’s a wonderful trailer and would bring in the viewers!

OK, I still think the costumes look cheesy and fx are pretty weak (at least that matte shot while Hawkman was flying looked bad), but I have to admit I’m intrigued enough to tune in and check this out. I was never a big Smallville fan, and I haven’t seen an episode in years, but if this is the kind of stuff they’re doing now I may have to go back and catch up on at least the later seasons. It’s about time they do away with that “no tights, no flights” rule. It was part of what kept me from being a fan!

    • Joey

Shaun, I respect your opinion….but honestly…I think it’s unfair to criticize the special effects when you are talking about a TV budget. This show does the best it can with the money it has and WB seems to be helping them out this year. I’ve also never understand people who don’t watch because of the “no tights” thing. This is an origin story and it’s supposed to be about character development—not just non-stop action seqeunces. For me, the best moments on this show are the character moments. That’s where the actors really sell it because the cast is so charming. If I want nothing but loud fx then I’ll watch a freaking action movie. But whatever…to each their own. I will agree that this season has been light years better than years before. But if you are looking for just non stop fx then I would suggest you find another show. This show is about character development more than just nonstop action….and I’m ok with that.

Smallville is like the little show taht could. They have pretty much managed the impossible this year. After a crappy 6th and 7th season, the show came back in Season 8 much much improved. Then the show went off the rails again halfway through Season 8 when Lana came back for 5 episodes and totally changed the successful tone of the season—then the show recouped again towards the end of the season and then they BLEW it with a majorly dissapointing season finale. Somehow (and I don’t know how they managed it) the writers, producers, actors must have realized that they screwed up last year and they figured out a way to fix the show once and for all. I knew as soon as I saw that video at comic Con last summer that this year would be different and I was right. The show has FINALLY (thank God) allowed Clark to grow up and start to embrace his maturity and heroism. The supporting characters like Oliver and Chloe have been interesting. Zod is a great villian AND the show finally realized that a love story can be fun and sexy and epic with Clark’s realization that he was a moron last year taking Lois for granted forcing him to step up to the plate, act like a man and realize that he loves her. All those things put together equal a Season so far that’s been made of win. Let’s hope they can keep it up. This season has the potential to be the best season in 9 years. Looking forward to the movie.

I don’t think Season 6 sucked. I actually liked the fact that they put Lex and Lana together because it was so twisted. Lex’s feelings for Lana had been hinted at since Season 3, and their relationship brought him closer than ever to becoming the heartless villain from the comics. It also destroyed his friendship w/ Clark completely, and Lana FINALLY discovered Clark’s secret. Season 7, IMO, was the worst. I liked Supergirl, but they didn’t seem to know what to do w/ the character after a while, and aside from a few outstanding episodes, the entire season was pretty mediocre. I loved Season 8, except for a few Lana-centric episodes, but Season 9 has been absolutely terrific.

  • whoa

    Tivo’d.

    • patty

ill be watching live as well, love the experience

  • Joel

Sick. And thank God that’s not the same trailer IGN has. This one actually shows some action in it. CANNOT WAIT!

  • Shaun

That looked quite awesome! Now, when is Zatanna coming back? lol

    • Carrie

I believe Zatanna is returning in the episode that comes right after “Absolute Justice”.

  • C

Where Michael Shanks leads I will follow. So I am a first time viewer… can’t wait!

  • Mike

What’s with all the Chloe-hate lol? Chloe was backburner for seven seasons thanks to Kristen Kreuk’s whiney-a** Lana “Save me Clark” Lang. She needed a good character boost. As for this movie, it looks amazing!!!! Can’t wait for Smallville to return this week.

    • Ange

I’ll bite. Mike, I don’t think anyone really hates Chloe. I know I don’t. (I think a lot of people hate her insane fans because they can be so nasty but that’s a whole different story and isn’t really related to the character herself who I think less people have issues with). I also don’t think as many people “love” her or are obsessed with her as you might think sometimes with the way the show gets press. I think it’s more that post Season 5 the writers seemed to allow Chloe to be Clark’s brain. Chloe was painted as an all knowing genuis while Clark was portrayed as an idiot. Personally, I like Chloe but I prefer her in a supporting best friend kind of role. I watch Smallville to watch Clark be the hero. I love the supporting cast—but I want them to remain supporting. Anyway, I’m basing this on what seems to be a general fan consensus at places like SUperman homepage, Ksite etc. But rest assured, I don’t think people really hate her per se. (Well, some fans do…but it’s a subjective TV show.) Also, I will say that I do find it annoying that she still hasn’t apologized to Clark for lying to him last season about Davis. Anyway, it’s just my opinion.

    • Alex

I don’t hate Chloe. Her fans are another story. However, she’s best suited for supporting. Season 8 and Doomsday showed us what a mess making her a lead was. She got more focus than Clark in the Doomsday arc! That’s just not cool. Personally, I liked her better prior to her role as Clark’s secret-keeper. She’s lost herself in that role. And like said above, I need an apology from Chloe to Clark.

      • Rick

I agree the Doomsday arc should have been about Clark and Doomsday, not Doomsday’s love life with Chloe. That’s why I’m hoping this seasons “REAL” villain Zod will be more about Clark and Zod, without Chloe interfering, I want Clark to fight his own battles per say.

      • EvaneSam

I agree that the whole Doomsday story was rather lame but I really don’t see why Chloe should apologise to Clark. She did all those things to protect Clark. I think Clark should be the one to apologise for leaving her when she needed him most (Jimmy dying and Lois dissapearing) Considering what she sacrificed for him all these years that should have been the least he could do.

  • Bryan

    Bad. Ass.

  • s

Why do they have to air this the same time as the superbowl? Do they really want no viewers for this big event?

    • Alex

It’s on Friday Feb 5th. The Super Bowl is on Sunday.

      • Patty

Correct, Alex. But in Canada, it will air Super Bowl Sunday (2/7).
