Pilot Intel: Sarah Chalke joins ABC's 'Freshman'

Sources confirm that Sarah Chalke has landed the female lead in the ABC comedy pilot Freshman.

The Scrubs vet will play Jane, a smart and funny freshman congresswoman who excels at pretty much everything except (drumroll… ) relationships!

Exec produced by Arianna Huffington and How I Met Your Mother‘s Greg Malins, Freshman centers on three rookie politicians who live together in Washington D.C.

Still to be cast: Chalke’s two male co-stars.

      she is so funny!

    nancy pelosi in sexy?
sorry but this show wont be good.
its like glenn beck producing a sitcom on fox. But hey lefty-hollywood rejoice! (why not have it on nbc?)

    • Aaron

i’ve read the script, it’s actually quite funny. maybe have a little more insight before you make these idiotic, bold proclamations. :)

      • AJ

Why would a Right winger rely on something like “insight”

    • tomm

Yeah all those male dominated movies about hunting down and killing bad guys are sooo lefty.

  • Em

Gee whiz, I’ve never heard this plot before!
Oh wait… this is the plot of every primetime television show.

  • Sean

Hey, Em, you dummy, it’s not a plot. It’s a vague outline of the situation in which the plot takes place.

In addition to being a horrible premise, it’s an even more horrible title. Many people, upon hearing the name, will think it takes place in high school or college. And even if it does find viewers and it’s successful, in a few season the characters will no longer be freshmen members of Congress, so the title will no longer have any relevance. Not optimistic about this one.

I had the same thoughts about the title… however I’m more optimistic about a dramedy centered around politics. I’ve been waiting for a good concept like this for a while– I’m sick of hospitals and law firms.

It’s gonna, people are sick of govt

This show sounds dumb. Yet, the part of me that is panicking about Michael Urie no longer having a steady TV gig for me to enjoy wants him to be cast as one of her male co-stars. Idk, idk.

      +++ great idea!

Ausiello, what’d Jeff Jensen and EW make you give up any scoop or opinion on LOST? Can we get some of your thoughts and opinions please?

  • NoElizaforOldMen

She is smoking hot, so I already think this is a good show.

  • G.L.

wasn’t a show like this already done on the WB by Dick Wolf? “D.C.”, with Jacinda Barrett and Mark-Paul Gossaler?

  • april-ann

No, thanks. It sounds dumb and boring. And the girl-and-two-guys or the guy-and-two-girls has been done to death. Doesn’t matter if this time they’re politicians. BORING. I’d take Miss Guided and Samantha Who anyday. But I’ll stick with Accidentally on Purpose (a girl and two guys), Big Bang Theory (a girl and two guys) and Three’s Company reruns (a guy and two girls).

  • Sam

Morons. Everyone said that about Cougar Town too at first. And that turned out great. Give it a chance :)

  • Jed

Love this gal but can’t stand Arianna Huffington…whom I refer to as Bill maher’s girlfriend, since he always had this hack on his show on ABC many years ago.

  • Jackie

Ok. I’m tired of her. She was annoying on HIMYM, and furthermore- she used to be cute, but now it looks like she’s trying to be an Olson twin.
