Exclusive first look: 'Big Bang Theory' sends Sheldon directly to jail!

A minor traffic infraction lands Sheldon in court in the March 1 episode of The Big Bang Theory, but it’s what Jim Parsons calls his “lack of delicacy with the English language” that prompts the judge to throw him in the pokey (thus causing him to miss meeting his idol, comic-book legend Stan Lee.)

“He gets pushed to his limits and gets cross with the judge,” Parsons explains. “The phrase ‘catching more flies with sugar than with vinegar’ makes no sense to him. The truth is really all that matters.”

His stint in jail is cut short when the supernerd “realizes he doesn’t [have] a private bathroom, at which point he’s ready to apologize,” reveals exec producer Chuck Lorre with a laugh. “He’s not willing to urinate in front of other felons. His self-righteousness dissipates as soon as he realizes he’s not going to get special treatment.”

And through a twist of fate, Sheldon ends up meeting Lee anyway. “He misses the [autograph] session Stan was doing at the comic book store, but he meets him at the end of the episode,” says Lorre. “It doesn’t go well, but he does meet him.”

I have not found this season as funny as the previous seasons. Its been mostly chuckle ha ha funny. This past Monday’s episode epitomized what is wrong this season. It has devolved into the Sheldon show, putting him contrived situations over and over again. I used to love his character but noe its like Homer and Urkel, he has become annoying. The scene with the ball pit was dragged out way too long. Poor Kunthrapali had barely a few scenes and I would LOVE to see more of how Wolowitz is adjusting to having a girlfriend. Worst of all, Sheldon is a one-note character with his ignorance of social conventions, which was funny at first, but now its just becoming more and more unbelieveable anyone would be that clueless. Its like Kirsten Wiig on SNL and how they, without fail, have her portray the same socially awkward character just in slightly different scenarios. It gets old quick. Oh well, I am just glad I discovered Parks and Rec with Aziz Ansari – that is a HILARIOUS SHOW!

      • Kosmo

        Yes, more Wolowitz please!

      • lvsunny

Actually, I personally know several guys like Sheldon…same social awkwardness, same problems empathizing with “humans”. But I do agree that he will ultimately lack the depth of character to make him more interesting. The guys I work with aren’t that interesting, either.

Aaaaaaaaaaaah! Could Jim Parsons BE any more adorable!?

    • CSR

See, I thought the same thing, and then he does things like the Stand Up to Cancer video that make me realize that there is no limit to his adorability.

      • SR

I just googled the video – thank you thank you thank you

    • castiella

I think if he were any more adorable, the universe would implode.

  • Sam

this show just keeps getting better and better…awesome!!!

  • crispy

Hmm, I would’ve expected Sheldon to know that Stan Lee had little to do with the creation of Marvel’s comic book characters.

      • BAZINGA

        Double Nerd alert

    • judus

what does that have to do with it, it wasn’t mentioned in the article above nor is it relevant to why he wants to see him.

  • K

Jim Parsons is amazing and this show does keep getting better and better.

  • Mark

I’m curious to see what kind of “minor traffic infraction” causes this whole scenario, given the fun there has been with his driving experiences so far.

    • Sue1

I think I read he was spotted driving Penny to the hospital, traffic-cam-style.

  • nunnya

I love me some Sheldon Cooper!!!!

  • VYork

This is one of my all time favs. I like all of the charaters but I love Sheldon. BAZINGA indeed!

  • mindiz
