Scoop: 'Royal Pains' enlists Henry Winkler!

The Fonz is heading to the Hamptons!

Happy Days vet Henry Winkler is joining the cast of Royal Pains in the recurring role of Eddie Larson, the absentee father to Hank and Evan, a show rep confirms.

Winkler will debut during the hit drama’s upcoming second season when pops “arrives unannounced in the Hamptons, determined to reinsert himself into his sons’ lives and make up for lost time,” reads the official (and soon-to-be-released) press release. “But his motives are unclear at best. He will have a considerable impact on HankMed, as Hank and Evan grow divided over whether family reunions are always something to celebrate.”

Pains‘ second season is slated to premiere this summer.

I am very sad that I have to wait until summer to see new episodes of this awesome show. Since Monk ended, this is my absolute favorite show on USA network. (Burn Notice is my least favorite show on USA network)

      • David

Are you kidding??? Burn Notice is the best show since Psych!Royal Pains is phenomenal too, but Burn Notice and Psych make the “off-season” almost unbearable…Thank goodness they are back.

      • William Howell

I grew up there. The Hamptons are dead in the winter so there would be nothing to show. The Hamptons exist almost entirely between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

I thought this show got cancelled. When was the last time it aired, like 2 years ago?

      • Jeff

End of summer 2009. Lose time much?

  • CandyMaize

Yay!!! Looking forward to this. I’ve always liked Henry Winkler and I really enjoyed S1 of Royal Pains.

    • yelhsa

  • Tricia

  • Kari

Mixed feelings. Wondering if he can pull it off. Hmmmm ….

    • jayne

Oh, he was amazing as and FBI agent you thought was good, and just as amazing when they brought him back and you found out the truth. He’s perfect for the role.

  • DomeFoam

    Love this show!!

  • JB

Yeahhhhhh!!! I think he’s a great fit for that role. Is it summer yet?

  • Rick Hunter

JUMPED THE SHARK WITH THE FONZ!!!!

This show is stupid anyways. None of the characters are realistic and they all have annoying ticks that aren’t quirky or redeeming. They should just bring back Monk if USA wants to survive.

    • Amy

Haha…yeah USA is really hurting right now(sarcasm). Come on, their shows are consistently near the top of cable ratings, includig this one. Monk was great, but USA is doing just fine without it.

    • Kathy

Oh yes! They are hurting bad…Law and Order, In Plain Sight, White Collar, Psych, Burn Notice….all shows with NO following whatsoever and all on the verge of cancellation? I’m sure when Covert Affairs comes out that will tank too!
Perhaps you would be better off watching ABC.

  • gabby miller

Oh wow that is cool! Ive met Henry WInkler before and he is a great guy. He would make the perfect role as their father!

  • Shannon

I thought Hank and Evan’s last name was Lawson?

  • James

Obviously someone slipped you a bad up-front-copy of the press release – the family name Hank and Evan is Lawson, not Larson. One could look it up on like the IMDB…

    • yelhsa

These guys are always getting small facts and spellings wrong…. Seriously, IMDB…
