It’s not called “other” – it’s called “asexual.” Some people really do not form or have interest in romantic attachments. Some people want the romance and companionship, but are completely uninterested in sex. They’re real people, and they probably would be annoyed about being called “other,” complete with scare quotes.
Thank you Brooke. As an asexual I find that it’s the most misunderstood orientation and I’m sick of the whole “you just haven’t met the right girl” thing from family and friends.
I don’t know … although I love any and all Sheldon/Penny interactions, I also love how unique Sheldon is in his avoidance of romance altogether. I guess I think that for now Sheldon is best as he is, but that they shouldn’t completely dismiss the possibility of him leaning some sort of way in future seasons. So long as its developed slowly and carefully, I see no reason why it couldn’t be equally as funny … someday.
It might just turn me off the show. You can have people care for him (and, heck, all of his friends do) without being romantic/relationship-y about it.
Why does it matter? Sheldon is Sheldon.
Why would you want to mess with the star of the show and that character, leave as is or will jump the shark!
Sheldon’s just lovely as he is. The show already has straight characters and a gay guy (come on out, Raj!) so Sheldon can just continue being Sheldon
I’d love to see Sheldon in any kind of relationship. He’d be quite annoying!
Sheldon clearly has Aspergers Syndrome and is functioning very well with his condition. “Let it Be”
Sheldon isn’t gay…he’s completely asexual. He is unable to maintain more than a basic friendship and is, in fact, not that great at that.
I think he’s shown straight tendencies, but is completely uninterested, so straight-indifferent is my vote.
We don’t watch Big Bang for a standard 90210 plot- a romance for Sheldon would make the show common.
I like Sheldon the way he is. I don’t think it’d work to throw him into a relationship of any kind.
Though I do think it would be funny if he “fell in love” with (or expressed a physical attraction to) a sexually ambiguous new comic book character. Would throw people for a loop.
I think it would be very funny to see Sheldon go through “relationship pangs” for someone who was nominating him for a major award.
Let Sheldon be Sheldon…period. No need for labels or or sticking noses into his personal business. Love the character as he presents himself to the world. He’s great!
Leave him the way he is! These “fans” who are dying to see him change and get into a relationship are idiots.
