Something tells me this is not going to sit well with B&B ‘shippers.
Sources confirm to me exclusively that Rena Sofer is joining the cast of Bones as a potentially recurring love interest for — don’t shoot the messenger! — Booth.
The former General Hospital Emmy winner — who’s currently recurring on NCIS as a (possibly romantic) foil for Mark Harmon’s Gibbs — will be playing Dr. Catherine Klein, a marine biologist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration who has been called into the Jeffersonian after finding human remains inside a dead tiger shark. Sparks fly between her and Booth, and the two agree to go on a date.
And I repeat: Don’t shoot the messenger!

Try the last episode of the final season. As for this new (and by “new”, I mean old, tired, and previously done to death) stalling tactic, I suppose it makes a small amount of sense just because no one really buys that someone who looks like Booth can’t get a date.
Kinda makes me wish that the ratings for this show would drop already. Cuz is that’s the case, Bones and Booth wont get together for another decade. :/
Yup, not surprised at all. With the ratings it gets, the execs are too scared to do something major like that until the show starts to go down.
It is getting old. More focus on interesting cases would be good, the story lines were awesome in the first three seasons but they’re getting standard now.
I can understand the stalling though- once all that sexual tension is gone, whats left for B and B? The writers won’t face that unless they have to.
You know what would be cool? Bringing back Sully. I liked Sully.
I hate that in every show if there is man+female couple as main characters they try to hook them up. The person who you enjoy working with may not be the person who you want to wait you at the home.
Or if you decide to pair up the characters, do it in the csi style: just give some hints about the realtionship.
I agree – this show is so lame since it’s become a soap opera – the first couple seasons were awesome…”work spouses” rarely make good real spouses.
I married my work spouse…so now he’s my real spouse and I have to say…he’s a good one! Sometimes it can work out. Not to mention that I look to dramatic tv to work out differently than “real life” necessarily would (which is why I watch shows, not reality tv). I like that it mimics real life enough to be relatable but has the dramatic flair only achievable in a planned and acted script.

I never liked that lady with Gibbs and in the latest episode they didn’t even tell the audience if they really did kiss. I hop this lady is off Bones soon as well, because its ment to be Brennan and Booth!!! Although I can stand one episode, just to see how Brennan reacts to her and if she gets a little jelous.
I KNOW! I love Gibbs, and I love Booth, but I am really getting worried about them both. If Rena’s character is anything like the woman on NCIS, I don’t want her anywhere NEAR Booth, or Gibbs….but she can have House. They are two of a kind…

Jenny sucked. Hate this girl with Gibbs – I like Gibbs with mysterious red heads who we only see swinging by crime scenes to pick him up.
And I don’t mind Booth going on a date – it’ll just make him realize he’d rather be hanging with Brennan.

But we haven’t seen Gibbs with a mysterious red head since the first season (maybe the second) but not in a very long time. I’m sorry they stopped because I thought that was fun. Meanwhile, though, I just find Sofer distracting on NCIS and would rather she go away and I’m not looking forward to seeing her on Bones. I think they should move ahead with Booth and Brennan. He’s already said he’s in love with her, so why would he date someone else. And I’m getting bored with the will they or won’t they. But maybe I’m just getting bored with the show. The show is not nearly as interesting or well-written as the Kathy Reichs books. And even if Booth and Bones sleep together, the writers/producers don’t have to make the show all about their relationship, so I think it is time to move on and stop insulting our intelligence.

Last NCIS mysterious red head sighting was early season 3. As for chemistry…it kind of feels like NCIS is going for a similar relationship to that of Gibbs and Hollis Mann (going toe to toe). I’m not really sold on the plot line right now, but, if they did kiss in the last episode they were together in, I’m not buying it. That’s a little too quick for me.
Anyway, it must be nice to be Rena Sofer right now. I wouldn’t mind playing a few scenes with both those gentlemen.

True that. I don’t understand how she keeps getting cast on everything. She ruins everything she’s on. The only thing I can think of is that she must be just the greatest, nicest, most wonderful person in real life, cause I can’t see what she ever adds to the shows she’s on.
I enjoyed Rena on General Hospital – she was great with the Quartermaines. I just don’t think that she is the best match with Gibbs – I think they wrote her a bit pushy, but his character does like strong women. I guess I just didn’t like her entering his home without being asked.
It’s tough as an actress, and I agree that she’s nice. I know she’s beautiful. I remember when she was hired on Ed as the ‘other woman’. And she was Nathan’s wife on Heroes. So a girl’s gotta work, and she shouldn’t take the meanness on this board personally.
But if HH, the Bones exec, wants to keep his audience, he’s got to get a clue. He’s been skating by with careless plot lines and half-assed characterizations this year. If he thinks introducing yet another love interest for Booth or Bones is going to be appreciated, he’s crazy. It’s been done to death on TV and specifically on this show. Move it forward, HH, not backward.
My sister likes to remind me that Rena was on the worst season of 24 ever. I don’t like her on NCIS for sure. I would watch out for her on Bones.

They must be really interested in killing this show. It makes me sad because I used to like Bones before it became all about the will-they-won’t-they B&B stuff. (Yes, I know it was always an aspect of the show, but it’s gotten ridiculous at this point.)
For that reason I did not want them to even introduce the romance. Dr. Brennan seemed smarter, Booth seemed sharper and Cam could struggle with Brennan.
Last week had hardly any will-they-won’t-they B&B stuff. Just because their relationship continues to develop doesn’t mean that it’s always in a romantic way. In fact, aside from the beginning of this season with all the post-coma confusion, I’d say there’s been more will-they-won’t-they about Angela and Hodgins (who’d better just frickin’ get back together already ’cause the blond kid is all wrong for Angela).
More on topic, I don’t get why everyone is dumping on Rena Sofer. Yeah, I hate her character in NCIS, but you’re SUPPOSED to hate her, and she does a great job making you want to smack that smarmy smile right off her face! So I’m looking forward to seeing what she has to offer to Bones, and I think it’s a perfect match-up. Booth’s boss (Diedrich Bader) is already serving as a kind of funky FBI love proxy for Brennan, so I think it’s totally appropriate to have another beautiful scientist come in to play the same role for Booth.

Except Booth is supposed to already know how he feels about Bones and so him dating just feels wrong. Bones dating is fine because she is supposed to be clueless. They’ll have to come up with a reason why Booth thinks his chances are nil with Breenan before he agrees to date the fish Doc and that is what will drive the shippers (and probably me) crazy. The only good part could be if they used her to show Booth that no subsitutes will do.
I get that we’re supposed to hate her character, but I’m not getting that “love to hate her” type of feel. I just don’t.

This makes me wish I watched Bones. LOVED her as Lois on General Hospital. She and Vanessa Marcil are wonderful!
Hopefully they’ll be able to write this in a way that shows, through this date, how Booth actually feels about Bones. Maybe it’ll also stir up some jealousy on the part of Dr. Brennan, and she’ll start making some plays of her own.
Hart Hanson did say that the writers would make us hate them first, but then make us love them towards the end of the season. The love part had better be happening soon, and it had better involve Booth and Brennan telling each other (and in real life, not a coma dream) they love each other and a kiss that isn’t induced by blackmail. If it doesn’t, they will kill the show quicker than the victims on the show.
I agree! We know Booth loves Brennan but Brennan doesn’t want to admit how she feels about him. I don’t want Booth to be w/someone else but I think this is what it might take for Bones to FINALLY realize she wants to be w/him. She would have to be the one to make a move cuz I think it’s obvious that Booth won’t. Let’s hope Booth and this new girl won’t last more than an episode or two

i hate her character on NCIS (but enjoy the actress) … she gives me a ‘bad guy’ feel, like shes tryin to play gibbs and we will find out she murdered someone and is tryin to stay in the loop so she doesnt get caught
