    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love FNL, this makes me sad

  • BenVarkentine

I’m actually pretty okay with this. True, the show is a gem, but it got a more than fair chance, which is more than I can say for some shows I loved (Life, Terminator).

Hopefully all the actors on the show will find future success in motion pictures. They’re far too good to stays as tv actors. They deserve to be allowed take the next step.

  • Shannon

I agree pj. The show, Kyle and Connie are all long over due for Emmy/Golden Globe nominations … not to mention wins!

  • Shannon

I agree shanemd. It will be hard seeing one of them without the other.

  • Dolphin

Wow. I can’t believe it. They haven’t even aired season 4 and they’re announcing the cancellation after season 5? The timing makes no sense, whatsoever.

What’s the big hurry? Cancel an excellent drama series, arguably the best show on television … and replace it with … what? The Biggest Loser III? Give me a break.

I LOVE Friday Night Lights. Major kudos to the cast and crew. I guess this decision will allow the writers to do a fantastic job in ending the series. Tell me the Lions go to State with Coach Taylor. :) We need a happy ending.

Jed, as much as I loved “Las Vegas”, it did not even remotely compare to “FNL” in terms of great tv. FNL is above and beyond so many tv shows.

  • SJ

Best show on TV…not shocked, but will miss it greatly.

  • Kelly

I wish the cast the best of luck in the future. Kyle and Connie will likely get good offers for other TV shows. I agree with Ausiello there might be some big bidding wars for Kyle and Connie. They should definitely go onto cable TV shows. Cable networks treat their stars and promote their shows far better than networks do. NBC never really promoted this show well and when they did they promoted it as a sexy teen type show. Michael B. Jordan and Jurnee Smollett who joined FNL this year will benefit greatly from being on this show. One of the downsides of FNL ending next season is that the new characters might not get full resolutions.

  • Joy

Noooooooooooooo!! FNL is the best show. NBC is stupid to take it off the air.

  • Leah

Jed is crazy! I was a Las Vegas fan but because it was entertaining, not because it was a quality program – it is pretty well accepted (and rightfully so) that FNL is both entertaining AND incredibly written and acted (even though it misses out on awards, the fans know how great it is). I’m going to miss it but I agree that it’s good the writers can approach Season 5 knowing it’s the last. I can’t WAIT until S4 starts up on NBC!!!

  • Rob R

I have heard FNL called a lot of things, Jed, but never a “crapfest.” Maybe “Citizen Kane” and “Gone With the Wind” were also crapfests compared to the genius that was James Caan’s “Las Vegas.”

  • Jeff

To this day, I still view “The Mud Bowl” from Season 1 as one of the greatest TV episodes of all time. Coach and the Panthers make a field out of nothing to host a home game. They played their hearts out.

  • Ptr

Will miss this show so much. The reason why I love this show is because it feels so real and not pretentious like many other series out there.

  • film4future

Maybe this announcement will finally prompt notoriously nostalgic Emmy voters to give this series the awards it deserves. I am both sad and happy about the announcement. Sad that it means no more FNL and the characters we love, but happy that they’ll be able to end the series on their own terms. Please let Kyle and Connie immediately get offers for good pilots. And please let Jason Katims start up another quality series! I can only imagine what’s coming next!

    • Mary

I totally agree. The only consolation would be for them to star in great shows that get them the recognition that they deserved all along.

    • Maria

Jason Katims is starting up a new series… he’s the showrunner of Parenthood that is premiering on NBC in March right after the Olympics end. I believe the premiere is scheduled for Tuesday, March 2nd at 10pm Eastern, but check your listings to make sure.
