Pilot Intel: CW develops six new dramas; fate of 'Melrose Place' unknown

Heather Locklear can only do so much. With the fate of the struggling drama Melrose Place up in the air (and other CW dramas like The Beautiful Life are now dead and gone), the network has gone back to the drawing board and developed six new dramas for the 2010-11 season.

Here are the CW’s fall pilot orders, many of which are still being cast (decisions on which projects will be ordered to series are typically made in the weeks leading up to the CW’s presentation to advertisers, which occurs this May in New York. And remember, the network is out of the half-hour business, thus, no sitcoms):

Dramas

Betwixt (writer Elizabeth Chandler). Supernatural drama based on novel of same name about creatures who fight evil forces.

Untitled Amy Holden Jones. Drama focusing on the freshman class at Harvard Medical School.

Hellcats (Kevin Murphy). Action follows competitive college cheerleading.

Nikita (Craig Silverstein). An update of La Femme Nikita.

The Wyoming Project (Amy Sherman-Palladino, Dan Palladino). Family sudser that takes place on a small midwest ranch.

Nomads (Ken Sanzel). Group of free-spirited youths backpacking through other countries agree to perform secret missions for CIA.

None of those sound good to me. Please tell me they won’t cancel ‘Life Unexpected’ in favor of one of those blah ideas.

  • baj24

Hopefully, they won’t cancel “Life Unexpected” to make room for any of these duds.

  • Jenn

The Wyoming Project looks interesting. But that’s only because of Amy Sherman-Palladino.

    • Jed

Couldn’t agree more, I’ll follow ASP anywhere

      • Zo

“Where you lead, I will follow!”

        =)

    • Briana

I would watch just to see Amy’s name in the credits!

    • Jenny

Exactly, Amy Sherman Palladino! I’ll watch anything that has her name in it! Oh, yeah if they pick it up. Pair it with Life Unexpected!

      • paula

        totally second that!
        WB forever!

  • baj24

Kacey great minds think alike :)

  • Melody

These all sound retarded. I want the WB back.

  • HD

Don’t cancel Melrose Place. It’s so much fun and the ONLY reason I watch CW.

    • Ryan

The only reason I watch the CW – or TV in general – is for MELROSE PLACE!

  • Zo

Def. don’t want “Melrose” canceled. It’s great mind-candy. I’ve really enjoyed (and missed) it!

    WHO CARES!

    JUST BRING BACK SMALLVILLE ALREADY!

  • Sarah

I don’t really care about Melrose that much but please, please keep “Life Unexpected”! that show is gold.

What happened to the CW pilots that were announced a few months back? Nashville, Spy School for Girls, some space show from Rob Thomas, etc?

  • mishka

    Déjà vu all the way…
CW should go back to comedies back, Teen years are not only about drama. And what about TV movies?

  • Zoey

Pfft. They all sound like crap. Betwixt already sounds annoying to me, because it sounds like a lesser version of Supernatural.

  • ash.

I actually hope they decide to “green light” the pilot for Nikita because from what I read about the older edition of the show it should be pretty good.

  • Sammy

MELROSE PLACE is by far the best show on the CW – people just need to give it a chance!

I don’t know how many of you know Maggie Q, who was in Mission Impossible 3 and Live Free or Die Hard, but she was casted as the lead in Nikita. That already has me excited about the Pilot. She’s a good action heroine and very attractive too.

I and also my pals were looking thgrouh the best things on your website while unexpectedly I had a horrible feeling I never thanked the web site owner for them. All the boys became consequently joyful to read all of them and already have really been having fun with these things. Many thanks for really being so accommodating as well as for opting for such quality issues most people are really desirous to understand about. Our own honest apologies for not expressing appreciation to you sooner.
