Sources confirm to me exclusively that Caterina Scorsone (Lifetime’s 1-800-Missing) is joining — wait for it — Private Practice in the recurring role of Dr. Amelia Shepherd, one of Derek’s never-before-seen sisters.
I’m told the character — nicknamed “Little Shep,” natch — lands a job at Oceanside Wellness.
Currently, there are no plans for Patrick Dempsey to cross over to PP to hang with his sibling, but a family reunion — most likely right at the start of sweeps — is inevitable.
Thoughts? Surprised by the twist?! I didn’t oversell it, did I?

She’s really pretty though. I hope when they are together, it’ll be on Grey’s because I don’t watch Private Practice. And since it says they will inevitably reunite, but that Patrick D. isn’t going to be on PP then obviously she must eventually go on Greys, right?
Word. Derek has no business in PP, so Little Shep can visit Big Shep in Seattle.

I actually like Caterina Scorsone but I can’t sit through Private Practice. Too bad she isn’t joining Grey’s.
I thought she was great as the eponymous Alice of Skiffy’s remake of Alice In Wonderland.

Rob, I agree. Although the actor who played Hatter stole the show, Caterina did very well as Alice.
@JKH I loved Andrew Lee Potts as Hatter! I’m happy to see Caterina get a regular gig on a big show b/c I loved Syfy’s Alice too (just got it on dvd yesterday).
I just wish she was on Grey’s instead of PP.

Since McSteamy named Little Gray and he grew up with the Sheppards.. I don’t see this as odd
its a good storyline but i hope she doesnt stick around long on PP. the thing i like about the show is that they have 8 solid main characters rather than a huge ever changing emsemble on greys. She should go over there if they want to keep her around.
oh and sheldon is totally the Gunther of PP

Huh? PP is on par with Greys, sometimes it’s actually better (though I’ll admit not lately).
I tried watching it, but Private Practice is just terrible. It’s a wonderful cast though. Someone save these actors from this show!
crispy — How long ago did you try watching PP? IMO, it finally found its voice in the final third of last season (roughly the last 6 episodes), so if you haven’t tried it recently, it’s much better and IMO where it should have been when it first started.

PP is hit or miss these days, even tho they do have a great cast, like someone stated earlier. Her character may make it more interesting.
Nope, Private Pratice started out good this season then it just took a turn for the worse again. The writing is very inconsistent. One good episode paired with three bad one’s. All the show seems to be about it Addison having sex with her next co-worker. It’s just exhausting.
I was with PP right up to these last few episodes. I knew they were trying to put Addison and Sam together which was just a bad idea. Then they make Naomi this totally callous and unbeliaveable b***h when it came to her daughter. It was just too much. It was as if they were making her so over-the-top so they could push Sam and Addison together. I couldn’t take it anymore. Then a friend tells me that Addison slept with Pete and Sam is upset because Pete is his friend. Horrible writing!
I actually think Grey’s took a turn for the worst after the s5 crossover, the only episode I liked since = the flashback one. recently I get so annoyed I turn them off after 15 mins…
Can’t wait for more shepherd history, although I hate Carolyn
@DivaSoulSista: Naomi wasn’t quite *so* unbelievable a bitch to her daughter. Most of her monologue to Sam while Maya was making her choice about the baby I’ve heard nearly verbatim from my own mother several times, and her behavior has been similar when she loses control of a situation (i.e. my adult life choices).
This sounds absolutely awesome to me! More chances for backstory are always a win.
Great. One more ploy to get someone to watch PrP. I love me some Derek Shepherd, but won’t sit through a minute of PrP to get info on a Grey’s character.

I love it! I hope it brings Derek to PrP for an episode or two. I love seeing Derek with people from his past. Makes him more interesting of a character.
