Multiple sources confirm that Palin and uber-reality show producer Mark Burnett have been making the rounds in Hollywood this week to pitch a TV docudrama about Alaska. One source called it a “planet-Earth type look” at Palin’s home state. The former candidate for the vice presidency was seen leaving ABC today with Burnett, and an insider confirmed that she met with reality topper Mike Darnell yesterday at Fox (where she and her family ended the day by visiting American Idol. Palin stayed in the green room). She also stopped by CBS today and plans to meet with NBC Universal TV Chairman Jeff Gaspin tomorrow.
When asked about the meeting, one executive quipped, “she’s pitching a sequel to Commander in Chief,” a reference to the ABC drama from Rod Lurie that starred Geena Davis as the first female president.
Palin began her week in Los Angeles by appearing on The Tonight Show, where she told Leno that her previous dream was to be to become a sportscaster – and then she told some jokes. She also took advantage of Oscar week by visiting gift suites.

On topic, who would watch a docudrama about alaska? pretty landscapes and oil is all Alaska offers and those items would get real old real quick, the only real excitement is the crap fishing (deadliest catch is amazing). Maybe a 1 hour special is all it’s worth but that would still probably tank.

I’m curious, Maddie. Even if you don’t agree with the data behind climate change, what is wrong with taking care of the environment? Almost all of Alaska’s GDP comes from either petrol or seafood. Frivolously wasting those resources is disaster for the people of the state. And for me, because I hate farmed salmon.
I’m curious where Palin’s record says she hates the environment. As Governor of Alaska, she introduced a statewide green energy plan that would get the utilities to produce 50% of their power through renewable sources. (Obama, btw, has suggested 25% by 2025.) Greenpeace said this plan was workable and good.
Gilly-I just spent the last six years in AK in a fisheries management position. Alaska does and better job of managing their fisheries than anywhere in the U.S. As for the petrol, you can’t sell it if it never comes out of the ground. The Alaska pipeline was very well thought out and took the climate, environment and wildlife into consideration when built.
ANWAR is a tiny area in a vast expanse, we need to stop buying oil from countries who hate the US and those who use the money we pay for oil to fund their murderous terrorist activities.
We need to cut our use of gas down too. We’ve known for decades what was going on in the middle east and did nothing to change our habits. We need to tighten our collective belts when it comes to using gas and oil instead of just finding new places to drill.
