Image Credit: Tina Gill/PR PhotosFurther proof that this Friday’s episode of Numb3rs will be a series finale: Rob Morrow has joined the cast of ABC’s Jerry Bruckheimer-produced legal drama The Whole Truth.
The project, which also stars Nip/Tuck‘s Joely Richardson, chronicles the building of a case from the perspective of both the defense and prosecution. Morrow plays a defense attorney who regularly spars with Richardson’s prosecutor, with whom he shares a history.
For Morrow, Truth is technically in second position to Numb3rs, although there’s little chance the CBS procedural will return next fall.
Not to be outdone, Morrow’s Numb3rs bro, David Krumholtz, was recently tapped to headline Fox’s Untitled Ron Howard IRS pilot.

While the thought of Numb3rs series finale being next week still makes me sad, I’m happy to see the actors already getting picked for other projects. Hope this luck extends to the supporting actors too.
Agree, though Numb3rs seemed to be running out of steam, and I could not stand Larry anymore – he has to be one of the most pointless characters on tv, and sooo depressing at times) I hope David and Colby get together
GOOD! I love Rob, but Numbers SUCKED these past two seasons.
I liked numbers
Well, Rob has new reached the holy trinity of TV. He’ll have played a doctor, a cop and a lawyer.
Congrats Rob!
Ausiello can you please make a list of upcoming pilots?! It would be great to see what we can look forward to in the next season.
Man CBS is STUPID! Not only do I personally like ‘Numb3rs’, but YET AGAIN, it was the highest rated show on Friday night. Higher then ‘Ghost Whisperer’, higher than ‘Medium’, it gets between 8.1 to 8.2 million viewers a week and wins the night. Why exactly would they cancel it? Do they think its going to be easy to get those numbers (no pun intended) at 10/9 central on a Friday night?
I agree! Why cancel a show that’s doing well?
Because creatively, it’s at a dead end. And it’s been there for two years. It did have a few great years in the beginning.
Unfortunately, advertisers pay based on the 18-49 demo, and Numb3rs is the lowest rated show on CBS in that demo.
I am so going to miss NUMB3RS! Such a unique procedural that is more like a family drama than most “family” dramas. Anyone out there know how to start a petition? This show needs to be saved!
Good luck Rob! I’m definitely going to miss NUMB3RS! Held Friday night for years, and did it at 10PM! Quite a feat! Until this show, I didn’t realize math was as “universal” as this show makes it out to be. GOOD JOB!
CBS isn’t the brightest of networks, they seem to make a habit of cancelling shows that are successful only for stupid reasons. I still hate them for cancelling “Moonlight” a couple of years, last season, they did the same thing to “Without a Trace”, and now it seems they are going to do it again with this show. How about cancelling their contract with the idiot who makes these decisions? That person needs to get a brain.
Let’s face it, every network has that habit. And I agree with you about “Moonlight” and “Without a Trace”. Two shows that should never have been cancelled the way they were.
WAT was a great show for the first four seasons but personally when everyone started sleeping with each other it started to get really old. Moonlight had a long way to go and that was a stupid mistake to cancel it…
Ausiello,
Since no decision has been made about Numb3rs, one way or the other, I would love know to why you are so negative about the shows return? Both Krumholtz and Morrow are simply covering their bases just in case Numb3rs doesn’t return. You seem to have decided from the beginning that Numb3rs has no chance of returning. I sincerely hope you have to eat your words. Until then you need to hold off on giving Numb3rs a death sentence because as I stated NO DECISION HAS BEEN MADE YET!
Gayle, clearly, you don’t watch CBS. Even they are advertising that this week’s episode will be the last. Pretty sure that means a decision HAS been made.
There are some times you want to sit back and see how far you have come. To me thats what the people at CBS are doing. They know that Numb3rs is the main show in there Firday night line up. So They want to see what they can do with the other shows to make them as good.
If CBS has half a brain they will bring back Numb3rs for at least 3 or 4 more seasons. There are so many new ways to do things. So many new cases to try so many old story lines that need followed up on. Alot in season one. Maybe show us were Billy, Terry and Megan are now. That kind of thing.
If WTR and JAG can run for 9 and 10 seasons a show that gets to the math of the matter should be able to run that long and longer.
I agree, CBS seems to the leader in cancelling excellent shows! With the recent story lines on Numb3rs,they have at least 2 more seasons of intriging plots!!! Also, if everyone keeps giving the show it’s death sentence, the YES, their Numb3r IS up!! Come on CBS, let,s not see history repeat itself!!!
We need more cop, doctor, legal dramas. 230 are not enough!
I love this show. Until they solve all the secrets of the universe & catch all the bad guys, it isn’t over.
“Morrow plays a defense attorney who regularly spars with Richardson’s prosecutor, with whom he shares a history.”
That sounds familiar… *coughthepracticecough*
Also to Jack, in his defense Rob didn’t play a doctor on a doctor show so that’s kind of better (Although I might be partial because I loved Northern Exposure)
Look, I’ll be the first to complain about networks cancelling shows I like (I’m still mourning Pushing Daisies) but you all are wrong when you say CBS is making stupid decisions. TV is business plain and simple. If they are not getting the numbers they want or it is starting to cost more money then they want to pay…it’s canceled. That’s good business. Numbers has two things going against it. CBS is *PACKED* with hit shows. They are swimming in them. So, they can afford to get rid of a couple if they aren’t high performers. And on CBS the bar for High performers is set pretty high. Also, the longer a show is on the air the more expensive it becomes to produce. The ratings may be good but not enough to support the increasing cost. It sucks but that’s how TV works. Don’t blame the network for wanting to do well.
I would say I am getting tired of becoming invested in shows only to have them cancelled. With the networks so intent on producing talk and reality shows, we should be happy we are still able to view hour long dramas.
