OMG! Scoop: Keri Russell joins Fox's 'Arrested Development' reunion!

keri-russellImage Credit: Sara De Boer/Retna Ltd.God loves me. And this next sentence proves it: Keri Russell is returning to television in a new Fox sitcom produced by Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz and starring Will Arnett!

He loves me!

Sources confirm to me semi-exclusively that my reigning BFF is in final talks to play Arnett’s love interest in Wilde Kingdom, the new single-camera romantic comedy pilot from Hurtwitz and fellow Arrested scribe James Vallely. Arnett also serves as a writer/producer.

The project centers on Steve Wilde (Arnett), a wealthy, self-centered Beverly Hills playboy who falls for a selfless humanitarian (Russell).

Despite the best efforts of network execs and producers to lure her back to the small screen, the Golden Globe-winning Russell has focused mainly on her feature career since Felicity graduated from TV in 2002. But as a source inside her camp told me last month, “If the right project came along she would consider it. It all comes down to the material.”

I haven’t read the Wilde Kingdom script, but given that Hurwitz and Arnett are involved I’m guessing the material is damn near perfect.

Please join me in welcoming Russell back home!

    • GROWING PAINS FAN

Agree, very misleading title. Anyway, Tracey Gold would be better for the part.

      • Kendrik

Tracey Gold, that is a name I have not heard of in a while, she was cute and it would be nice to see her in something new again.

Do not approve of this article’s title. Bait and switch. Booo!

  • Pam

    First!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And what BRILLIANT news!

    • Lennon

      You suck at life.

    • Mike

      First!!!!!!!!!!??????????

Now don’t you just feel silly?

    • Jason

TOTALLY AWESOME!!! I’m right with you, Mike! Keri has been sorely missed on our weekly TV sets! She does comedy and drama equally well, and this pairing with Arnett is priceless!!!

  • John

Wow. This title couldn’t be any more misleading. Incredibly disappointed.

    • elisha

I thought the title was alluding to the Arrested Development movie. Damn you Ausiello!

ugh I know, please change the headline. I don’t want to hear about some new show, I want to hear about the AD movie.

  • Alex

Keri has actual talent. She should have doubted any guessers if they say Waitress. Glad to see her back on TV!

    • CaptainMessyPants

She could definitely play a hot housewife …

  • Christopher

    The return of G.O.B.!

    COME ONNNNNNN!

  • Ken

Brilliant group behind it. Love that Keri is back on TV> But the plot doesn’t sound good. I hope it’s not another “Sit Down, Shut Up” type show, that just fades into TV irrelevance.

  • XK

I liked her in Felicity (for the most part), but really have not been a fan of her in talkshow interviews. The show premise seems to be a bit of a dud too, but I’ll withhold judgement until watching it. :)

  • Saracen Riggins

WHAT!?!? This has THRILLED me beyond what I can begin to explain!! And I’m even watching Felicity as I type. I am so ecstatic!!!!!!!!!!

  • graeme

Intersting. Russell is super talented…hopefully she’s not relegated to just the “straight man” role here, which kinda sounds like it from the description.

  • i’m a lady

awesome. tv offers much more interesting roles for women than feature films these days.

  • kenneth k

    Really misleading headline… sad panda.

  • Cole

YAY!!!! I heart Kerri Russel in a big way and can’t wait to have her back on TV!!!

  • Jen

Keri Russel was so annoying on Felicity! I hope this isn’t true.

  • chris

what the hell does “semi-exclusively” mean?

    • hc

Aside from putting off readers and being semi-pretentious, absolutely nothing.

  • lauren
