Scoop: Betty White finds herself in 'The Middle'

Everyone’s jumping on the Betty White bandwagon!

Hot on the heels of her confirmed Saturday Night Live hosting stint, the TV legend has signed on to guest star in the season finale of ABC’s The Middle.

White will play a school librarian who confronts Brick (Atticus Shaffer) about his failure to return numerous overdue books.

On Thursday, NBC confirmed what AF readers have known for weeks: That the ex Golden Girl will be hosting a special Women of Comedy-themed SNL on May 8 featuring Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Rachel Dratch, Maya Rudolph, and Ana Gasteyer.

There’s no such thing as too much Betty White!

SWEET! I cannot wait for this episode now!

I know! I was so hyped to see this if for no other reason than to give The Middle some PR. This is one of the best comedies on TV right now. All of the child actors on this show are fabulous and I can’t wait to see the interaction between Brick and BW.

This should prove to be a great piece of casting. Everyone on The Middle is so awkwardly entertaining and funny, which describes Betty White to a T!

The Middle is my favorite comedy on TV right now, and this just furthers my belief. Go Betty White! We love you!

She is 88 and the day she dies will be a horrible day for the history of TV and movies. I hope she continues working until the day she dies and she doesn’t get sick.

Long live (and work) Betty White, we all love you!

“The Middle” is very underrated, particularly when you compare it to the two shows that follow it. i can’t wait for the Betty White episode.

I love “IN THE MIDDLE”… The characters are awesome. At the same time, MODERN FAMILY is also awesome.. You can’t compare because they are totally different shows with different messages… ALL FUNNY!!

  • chris

I hope this will bring more viewers to this HILARIOUS show! It’s often overshadowed by Modern Family, but this is just as funny. Mostly due to the amazing actors that portray the kids. All 3 are absolutely perfect!!

AGREE! LOVE this show! I laugh SO much – it’s a great middle of the week pick me up, and brilliantly written and acted! A true gem of a show. And super yay for Betty!

  • Dave

The Middle is a fantastic show and I can’t think of a better way to end the first season than having Betty White guest star!

  • TJ

I’ve loved here since watching her on reruns of the Mary Tyler Moore show. Her character was hilarious!! She’s true hollywood royalty.

  • Cynthia

Don’t particularly like The Middle, seems like Malcolm in the Middle( even the youngest kid looks like Dewey) but will watch because of Betty. Wish they would have had her on Modern Family better. She could have been great as one of Phil’s relatives.

    • kim in kentucky

I agree on all points (glad to think someone else thinks the kid looks like Dewey!)

  • kathy C

Love The Middle. Love Betty White.
Modern Family is good, but prefer The Middle and except for the title don’t really think it’s like Malcom.. on Malcom he was a genius, the boys were all committing criminal acts and the parents were way out there.. The Middle is a family in Middle America trying to just get by.. no overachievers, no criminals.
