Kudos to the HR folks over at The Office on their latest blockbuster hire: Sources confirm to me exclusively that the sublime and criminally underrated Amy Pietz is joining the cast for multiple episodes.
Pietz — best known from her supporting stints on Caroline in the City, Aliens in America, and Rodney — will first air in April and… um… er… that’s pretty much all I can tell you at this point. Suffice it to say her character description is laced with more than a few spoilers.
Of course, don’t let that stop you from speculating in the comments. Also, feel free to echo my sentiments re: Pietz (and please explain to me why she isn’t a bigger star).
I’m guessing she’s a love interest for Michael.
One can only hope, Michael needs a love interest badly… maybe a little love triangle between her, Michael and of all people Toby! That would be super fun to watch!
That actually sounds fantastic. To have Michael pine after a girl Toby is dating would be sweet, sweet irony.

I agree wholeheartedly, and have always thought that Amy would be a natural for this show and a perfect “other half” for Michael. She has great comedic timing and no problem making fun of herself. Kudos for this casting info!

Amy Pietz is great! I loved her on Aliens in America, and the regular scenes of her in CATS was pretty much the only reason I watched Caroline in the City.
Count me as another big fan. Her work on Aliens in America was seriously funny stuff.
