Back in December, we informed Matt Damon that he was at the top of Tina Fey’s 30 Rock guest star wish list. His response? “I would do [30 Rock] in a heartbeat if they asked me to come on,” enthused the genuinely shocked thesp. “She should call my people — or even better me. Or I could call her. Let’s make this happen.”
Cut to March 31 and voila: Sources confirm to me exclusively that Matt Damon is going to guest star on 30 Rock!
Although the specifics of his appearance are being kept hush-hush, I hear the Oscar winner’s episode will be one of the season’s last. If I were a betting man, I’d wager that Ben Affleck’s other half would follow in James Franco’s footsteps as another fleeting love interest for Jenna (Jane Krakowski). But I’m not a betting man, so you guys go ahead and weigh in with your guesses below. And while you’re at it, maybe you can calculate how much my 20 percent commission on this deal is gonna be.

Hands down this is the best idea I’ve read. He could also be a relative of Jack’s Boston lover Julianne Moore (using, once again, his “Good Will Hunting” South Boston accent with extra bleeps for his f-bombs). Or he could be NBC’s secret weapon in the ongoing “Cabletown” merger, aka Jason Bourne is real and works for NBC. But then, alas, he goes rogue Bourne style. I think the Jenna’s boyfriend angle is really boring. I hope they use this one to full effect!

Oh… my goodness TV Gord that is an absolutely amazing idea especially since Kenneth’s character is absolutely hilarious. Matt Damon’s character could team up with Kenneth and make jokes the entire episode, and also maybe his interactions with Kenneth could provide the audience with more information about Kenneth’s family, home life, and more of those strange family traditions.

That would be funny. The way Al Gore was all “save the whales!” on 30 Rock, Matt Damon could think that he was a super-spy.
I’m amazed by 30 Rock’s ability to snag all these high profile guest stars. It’s been equal parts hit and miss this year, but I’m confident they’ll close the season strong, especially with Matt Damon involved.
Real shows don’t need high-profile asses, just real actors.
If you’re amazed by the show’s ability to get guest stars, you must not think much of this show.

So 30 Rock isn’t a real show b/c they have high-profile celebs guest star? Most shows have other popular celebs guest star! It says nothing about the quality of the show.
Real actors are fans of the show and go on it because they love it so much! Even Meryl Strep has said she’d do it. It’s the ultimate compliment to the show that people want to be on it, as we’re talking A list guests, not former Love Boat castoffs.
I love Matt Damon. And I love Tina Fey. Two of my favorite people.

Exactly – with so many shows, guest starts come across as stunt asting. On 30 Rock it just seems natural, or at worst like the actors are just having a good time. And that’s not a bad thing…
