'30 Rock' exclusive: Tina Fey snags Matt Damon

What Tina Fey wants, Tina Fey gets.

Back in December, we informed Matt Damon that he was at the top of Tina Fey’s 30 Rock guest star wish list. His response? “I would do [30 Rock] in a heartbeat if they asked me to come on,” enthused the genuinely shocked thesp. “She should call my people — or even better me. Or I could call her. Let’s make this happen.”

Cut to March 31 and voila: Sources confirm to me exclusively that Matt Damon is going to guest star on 30 Rock!

Although the specifics of his appearance are being kept hush-hush, I hear the Oscar winner’s episode will be one of the season’s last. If I were a betting man, I’d wager that Ben Affleck’s other half would follow in James Franco’s footsteps as another fleeting love interest for Jenna (Jane Krakowski). But I’m not a betting man, so you guys go ahead and weigh in with your guesses below. And while you’re at it, maybe you can calculate how much my 20 percent commission on this deal is gonna be.

I think he should be a relative of Kenneth’s!

    • Cheery

      This–especially if he’s equally dim-witted! :D

      • anna

        I love this idea!

      • Randi

OH my god that would be hilarious!

    • LDN

Hands down this is the best idea I’ve read. He could also be a relative of Jack’s Boston lover Julianne Moore (using, once again, his “Good Will Hunting” South Boston accent with extra bleeps for his f-bombs). Or he could be NBC’s secret weapon in the ongoing “Cabletown” merger, aka Jason Bourne is real and works for NBC. But then, alas, he goes rogue Bourne style. I think the Jenna’s boyfriend angle is really boring. I hope they use this one to full effect!

        That’s Kabletown, with a K

      • Megan

Maybe as the star of Kabletown’s new “porn for women”?

      • graeme

Oooo, yeah. Get Julianne to come back again and they could be lovers or something.

    • Russ Burlingame

      I approve of this message!

Oh… my goodness TV Gord that is an absolutely amazing idea especially since Kenneth’s character is absolutely hilarious. Matt Damon’s character could team up with Kenneth and make jokes the entire episode, and also maybe his interactions with Kenneth could provide the audience with more information about Kenneth’s family, home life, and more of those strange family traditions.

Woo-Hoo! Can’t wait to see this! I’m hoping he’s the new Floyd! Mr. Ausiello – you rock!

30 Rock, is there anyone you can’t get to guest star?

    • SA

      They can’t get Michael Jackson

      • ed

they Probly could get Mj but he would likely be Decomposed and rotting

    • Becky

Yeah, people that aren’t just looking to do a bit part.

      • Brian

        Hi, I’m Becky! (Womp womp)

      • lefty

        @Brian hahahha

    • Ethan

No one! They even got Oprah!!

    • jared

Uh, what WON’T Matt Damon do? Sarah Silverman videos, stints on “Will & Grace.” It’s not like they got Jesus to guest.

  • talkin’

    I hope he’s Jason Bourne

    • Kitty

that would be funny if he is matt damon who acts like jason bourne throughout the show…

    • Eric

That would be funny. The way Al Gore was all “save the whales!” on 30 Rock, Matt Damon could think that he was a super-spy.

  • Jim

I’m amazed by 30 Rock’s ability to snag all these high profile guest stars. It’s been equal parts hit and miss this year, but I’m confident they’ll close the season strong, especially with Matt Damon involved.

    • Q/

Real shows don’t need high-profile asses, just real actors.

If you’re amazed by the show’s ability to get guest stars, you must not think much of this show.

      • natalietr

the point is the show is so popular that even respectable ‘high-profile’ actors want to be affiliated with the show

      • Kat

So 30 Rock isn’t a real show b/c they have high-profile celebs guest star? Most shows have other popular celebs guest star! It says nothing about the quality of the show.

      • tnsmoke

Real actors are fans of the show and go on it because they love it so much! Even Meryl Strep has said she’d do it. It’s the ultimate compliment to the show that people want to be on it, as we’re talking A list guests, not former Love Boat castoffs.

  • Elizabeth

I love Matt Damon. And I love Tina Fey. Two of my favorite people.

  • Tracey

He’s going to be Astronaut Mike Dexter, duh.

    • Angela

Matt Damon as Astronaut Mike Dexter would make my life!

    • johnny

    • Lala

      Ummm, that would be amazing!

    • anna

I want RDJr for Mike Dexter!

      • Froofroo

        RDJ?? Inspired!

    • Ambient Lite

      Matt Damon + 30 Rock = Perfection

    • alex

YES Matt Damon for Astronaut Mike Dexter!

  • JohnLocke

  • Dory

That is really awesome. Now they need to get Jason Bateman to guest star as well.

    • stella

      YES Jason Bateman sounds perfect.

  • JohnLocke

EXCLUSIVE: Matt Damon is playing Tina Fey’s love interest in the finale. WOW EW, it’s not hush-hush.

    • Jenny

This would be amazing. I hope he’s normal and nice, wouldn’t that be something for ol’ liz lemon!

  • Britt

better question: will he use his Boston accent to correct the horrible wrong of Julianne Moore’s failed attempt?

    • SC

Oh, God. We’d need about 10 Matt Damon episodes to correct THAT.

    • Lala

And Ben and Casey would also need to guest-star to correct that wrong. I cringed every time she spoke.

      • erin

I always assumed the horrible accent was part of the joke – but maybe I’m giving too much credit.

  • Kelly

  • Becky

Gee, 30 Rock is now like Will and Grace’ final season. All about who they can get to be on it.

How about having a show that just f***ing works?

    • Michael

It does work. This season has been great.

    • Buffy Freak

30 Rock is an example of using guest stars the right way. Will & Grace never managed to do it right.

      • Michele

Exactly – with so many shows, guest starts come across as stunt asting. On 30 Rock it just seems natural, or at worst like the actors are just having a good time. And that’s not a bad thing…

  • Kate

I would love to see Matt Damon and Alec Baldwin in scenes together – two awesome actors!

30 Rock is still the funniest, sharpest comedy on TV, no wonder they get great guest stars.
