Smallville‘s ninth season finale will feature a cameo by one of TV’s most feared guest stars: The Grim Reaper. Sources confirm to me exclusively that producers of the everlasting superhero saga are planning to kill off a major castmember in the May 14 capper. And if the death of “Jimmy Olsen” last May taught us anything, it’s that no one — and I mean no one — is safe on Smallville. Okay, Clark is safe. But everyone else is fair game. A few characters are particularly vulnerable, which is my roundabout way of me saying the victim is listed after the jump!
I can confirm that one of these eight folks will be in grave danger come May 14:
* Lois: Okay, Clark and Lois are safe. But everyone else is fair game.
* Chloe: Allison Mack doesn’t have a contract for next season yet. Just putting that out there. Also, can you think of a more compelling hook to season 10 than Clark attempting to avenge the death of his BFF — a character who just so happens to live outside the jurisdiction of DC Comics’ mythos police?
* Lana: Rumor has it Kristin Kreuk was spotted on the Smallville set this week. Rumor also has it I fabricated the above rumor just to make trouble. Finally, there’s a rumor going around that one of the previous two rumors is 100 percent true. All joking aside, rumor has it KK is currently in Vancouver. Or is she? I’ve said too much!
* Perry: His return later this season is top-secret… so top-secret it makes one wonder.
* Martha: Her return later this season is top-secret… so top-secret it makes one wonder.
* Oliver: Green Arrow is a DC Comics property, but so was Jimmy Olsen. Death by loophole, perhaps?
* Tess: With Michael Rosenbaum attached to a new series, the odds of him returning as Lex have never been smaller. What does that mean for his placeholder? I imagine only bad things.
* Zod: He’s this season’s Big Bad. And by my calculations, this season is almost up.
So, who’s dying?! That’s for me to know and you to find out spend the next two months obsessing over in the comments section.

Zod, Tess, and Chloe are the most likely candidates. Chloe only because of Allison’s lack of a contract. Well, and her lack of being in the “Superman Mythos,” which was pointed out by the Legion of Superheroes.
It should be everyone except Lois and Clark, Clark then thinks its time to stop fooling around, gets a full time job at the Planet, takes up his Superman persona and the show ends
I see Chloe dying in one of the last episodes of the series.
They seemed to signal in the “Absolulte Justice” episode that Chloe will become Dr. Fate. I’m not sure if that will involve killer her or what, but I think it’s a great transition for her character and keeps her around (during the series or afterwards) in a cool way. My hope is they kill of Tess. What a terrible Lex replacement! I can’t wait for more Pam Grier as Amanda Wallace!
The main candidates are Chloe, Tess, or Zod. Chloe is not a part of the mythos, and Allson doesn’t have a season 10 contract.
But, IMO, it will be either Zod (who’s a clone anyway) or Tess. If there’s going to be a different main villain next season (Checkmate, Intergang, etc.), then it’s unclear what role Tess could play.

Kristin Kreuk’s career went down the toilet after Smallville! And her guest appearances on Chuck helped to send that show on a downward spiral. That’s two shows screwed because of the characters she’s played. Just wow!
KK on Chuck was completely charming – the best she’s been. It was plus for her and the show – and that’s from someone that was previously not really a fan of KK.
I agree with Kick. Following her episodes the show has been bleeding viewers like crazy. It used to be a safe bet and now everyone is trying to save the sinking ship. Thanks Kristin for ruining another one of my fav shows.

They in noway insinuated that Chloe would be turning into Dr.Fate – if you had paid attention you would have seen that there was a character named Izna Nelson – who is Kent Nelson’s wife, Kent Nelson being Dr.Fate in these Ep’s — his and her soul were inhabiting the Dr.Fate amulet(in the comic) and they are insinuating that she will be the new Dr.Fate, like her comic counter part.
@kick – I have never even watched an episode of Chuck, but saying that a (not very famous) guest star like KK is the reason that show is losing viewers is ridiculous.
Oh, and I wasn’t a fan of Lana either but KK was competent enough in the role.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting that KK is/was bad actress on Chuck – just that the character she played ruined the show’s dynamic between the two lead characters – a god-awful love-interest-triangle! Her character was only on for 4 episodes, but it turned off a lot of people! The show’s audience dropped quite dramatically afterward, on now is is danger of being canceled. And Brandon Routh was also cast as the love-triangle-interest for the female lead. Lana Lang and Superman coming between the two leads!!

Word. Chloe’s the only reason I still watch. And Mikeman: I’m not sure if you’re implying that Chloe can’t be a leader of the JL because she’s small or blonde or a girl, but that’s extremely sexist. Chloe has proven time and time again that she has the smarts and skills to be a leader and call the shots. She has made mistakes, but she’s saved the members of the JL’s asses too many times to count.
While I am fully convinced that Chloe gets her exit this season, I seriously still hope its not her. That mythos junk is crap. If it really is Allison Mack’s last season, Chloe better get immortalized in some way and not as a computer or some crap.
Chloe is the brain behind everything since the beginning of the show and the plot runs smoothly because of her contributions. She is the most important character after Clark Kent. Only when they portray her or Clark negatively does the show suck.

The Jimmy that was killed is not the Jimmy from the Superman stories. That is his brother that Chloe gave the camera to!
The original Jimmy Olsen on the show was not the same one from the comics. It was his little brother that they showed in the scene at the funeral. For the record, the older Jimmy who died, was the same age as Clark and Lois. The Jimmy in the comics was much younger than both of them. The real Jimmy Olsen who ends up working with Clark and Lois will be his younger brother. Plus older Jimmy knew Clark was Superman…in the comics he never knew.
As good as the actress playing Tess is I really think she makes the most sense for a visit by the reaper! KK did a nice turn on Chuck. The humor on Chuck has seemed “strained” at best of late and the shifting dynamic of the charecters is throwing some viewers off I think. I really think that as long as they keep the charecters people we care about and want to see and have some fun with it will be well. Additionally, That is also what made Smallville successful all this time I think. Every charecter was “a person of interest” in the investigation of how Clark arrives at his destiney. Allison Mack’s Chloe should, by strength of performance, be made part of a new cannon that includes their friendship in Smallville.

Actually, I think they do. I KNOW a ton of people who already left (only watching the Chloe scenes online and some who refuse to even do that), including myself (thanks to the atrociousness of last season’s season finale). I’m sure once Chloe is gone, several people will leave and never come back. Once Chloe is gone, I will feel no temptation to watch ANY of the scenes. Hopefully, she won’t leave due to a death (how utterly predictable and BLAND-but then again this IS Smallville), but either way I know of a ton of people who will finally and once and for all, be free!

GA is kind of a random character, but I think he’s a good foil for Clark. Plus he’s a vigilante. He’s in the middle of the road. Tess is bad, Clark is good, Oliver’s in the middle.
