Ask Ausiello: Spoilers on 'Chuck,' 'Glee,' 'True Blood,' 'Grey's,' 'Lost,' and more!

tv-hunks-fox-morrisonImage Credit: Carin Baer/Fox; Steven Lippman/HBO; Mario Perez/ABGot a scoop request? An anonymous tip you’re dying to share? Just want to say hi? You can send any/all of the above to ausielloscoop@ew.com

Question: Hello fellow Smurf lover! Any new scoop on the upcoming season of True Blood? —Candy
Ausiello:
I’m 90 percent certain this is new: Mariana Klaveno is returning as Bill’s maker, Lorena, for roughly six episodes.

Question: Do you know if True Blood‘s third season will feature Bubba? He’s not exactly a major character in the books, but I still love him. —Kristal
Ausiello:
Unfortunately, Alan Ball says he couldn’t figure out a way to introduce Bubba “without it being cheesy,” adding, “I don’t know how to do it without either using an Elvis impersonator, which is cheesy, or having somebody and never seeing their face, just hearing their voice — and to me that sounds equally cheesy. So that’s just one of the casualties of the transfer from book to screen.”

Question: I want some juicy Grey’s Anatomy news, not somewhat juicy, but very juicy. C’mon you can do it! —Sarah
Ausiello:
We’ll find out in an upcoming episode that a major character — one of the original Fab Five — grew up in foster care. READ FULL STORY »

Donald Trump is hiring! NBC to revive 'The Apprentice'

Categories: Deals, Reality TV, TV Biz

NBC announced today that it’s re-teaming with Donald Trump to launch a new version of its old reality show The Apprentice. The show plans to recruit 14 new candidates of various ages who have “been hit hard by the current economic downturn,” NBC said — like  job seekers who are unemployed or recent college graduates with no prospects. Nationwide casting calls will begin soon for the reboot, which is expected to bow this fall.

The Apprentice is a proven brand, and we believe its return is more relevant than ever since it will provide new hope for many Americans struggling in this difficult job market,” said Paul Telegdy, NBC’s head of alternative programming, in a statement. “Donald is going to be even more involved as he offers fantastic opportunities for the American worker, while the search for a quality job will resonate with contemporary viewers.”  Trump released this statement: “I am very excited to return to the original premise of The Apprentice. We’ve got to do something about the economy and this is a terrific way to provide jobs as well as business lessons along the way. NBC, Mark Burnett and I hope this economic downturn can begin a turnaround, and we’ll do our best with The Apprentice to see that it starts happening.  I’m proud to be putting people back to work, and to positively changing the psychology of America.”

The original version of The Apprentice premiered in January 2004 and later spawned The Celebrity Apprentice. The latest edition of which returned to the lineup last Sunday and attracted a respectable 8.3 million viewers.

'Castle' scoop: Romance for Castle and Beckett?

Categories: Castle, Scoop

castle-castImage Credit: Bob D'Amico/ABCEntertainment Weekly intern Vlada Gelman is covering PaleyFest ‘10 for The Ausiello Files. Here’s her report from last night’s Castle panel.

Bang, Bang: We were treated to a screening of Castle‘s March 22 episode, the first half of a two-parter guest starring Dana Delany. Nathan Fillion’s old Desperate Housewives costar plays a smart FBI profiler who comes into the picture to help catch a murderer who’s obsessed with Nikki Heat. Castle is awestruck by her and her fancy FBI equipment, which doesn’t make Beckett too happy. But never fear, Beckett and Castle fans. Feeling responsible for putting Beckett in harm’s way, Castle takes it upon himself to protect her. Let’s just say there is wine and pancakes involved and an interrogation by Esposito and Ryan. Charlie Sheen back at work today

It seems a little odd when a production company issues a simple one-line press release saying a star is back on the set, but when your star is Charlie Sheen — and he’s spent some time in rehab while fighting felony, menacing, and assault charges — then an update on his status is more than just a little newsworthy. Warner Bros. TV announced today that Two and A Half Men’s biggest and highest paid star returned to the Burbank, Calif. set today to resume production on the sitcom, which remains TV’s most watched comedy at 14.96 million. Sheen’s off-screen antics haven’t impacted the veteran series; Men, in fact, posted its highest adults 18-49 rating (5.8/15) in three years on March 8.

Sheen’s time off didn’t have a huge impact on the show’s run; CBS already had three episodes in the can when the actor announced plans to enter rehab. Though a rerun aired last night, the next original episode is scheduled for March 22. CBS ordered 24 episodes of Men this season.
