Image Credit: Glenn Harris/PR Photos; Karen Neal/ABCABC’s just-renewed Castle is taking a stab at reality TV with an episode centered around the murder of a former contestant on a Top Chef-like series. But that’s not the big news. This is the big news: The ep features Veronica Mars grad Julie Gonzalo as a high school friend of Beckett’s!
Here’s the sitch: Gonzalo (whose post-Mars resume includes stints on Eli Stone and NBC’s in-limbo Day One) guest stars as a beautiful and dynamic restaurateur who finds herself mixed up in the aforementioned murder investigation.
The May sweeps outing, cheekily titled “Food to Die For,” also boasts a cameo by celeb chef Rocco Dispirito as himself.
It’s shaping up to be a busy May for Stana Katic’s smokin’ sleuth. In addition to the arrival of her childhood pal, she’s getting a new love interest in the form of Battlestar Galactica‘s Michael Trucco.
She was utterly useless on Veronica Mars but I found her to be very charming on Eli Stone. I hope they write her something good.
I agree, Buddy. The last season of Veronica Mars was utterly forgetable and she was a good reason why. I liked her character on Eli Stone. She showed some real acting chops and she was adorable. Now, I hope she does some good on one of my favorite shows.

You might not remember her because she was blonde on VM. She played Parker in the third season.

You’re bad, Ausiello! When you said VM alum, I was thinking maybe Kristen, Jason, Percy or Enrico. It’s just, Julie? She was such an unimportant character on VM. Maybe, you should have said “Eli Stone” alum.

She played V’s college roommate. It wasn’t a very good role, and I didn’t even recognize her at first when she starred on Eli Stone.

Whenever you use the phrase “‘Veronica Mars’ Alum” I’ve learned that you’re usually talking about the most obnoxious characters the show had to offer. ie: Gonzalo’s Parker; Krysten Ritter’s Gia.

Parker – Season Three, Mac’s roomate, rape victim, dated Logan after he and Veronica broke up… not a beloved character maybe, but definitely important.

Like the actress but I didn’t like her on VM. She was funny in Freaky Friday and a Cinderella Story, though.
Great to hear. I’m looking forward to seeing her play an old friend of Beckett’s. Hope there’s some more backstory on Beckett too.

Love Julie Gonzalo, her character on VM was quite useless but anyway the season 3 was not really good to say the least (but still better than most of all the tv shows we have right now). And at least she was good with Logan unlike bitchy and judgemental Veronica (who although still stays Logan’s soulmate).
