Charlie Sheen wants out of 'Two and A Half Men': Report

charlie-sheen-menImage Credit: Greg Gayne/CBSPeople.com is reporting that Charlie Sheen — the highly paid star of CBS’ Two and A Half Men – wants to leave the top-rated comedy when his contract expires at the end of this season. The actor has reportedly told friends that “he’s not coming back,” even though CBS has already made a deal with Warner Bros. TV for two more seasons of the sitcom. “Leaving is 100 percent his idea,” a source told People.com. Apparently, the network has been trying to negotiate a new deal but Sheen turned down the offer. His spokesman would only confirm that his deal is through this current season.

A source close to comedy said negotiations are ongoing and that no one is assuming this will be Sheen’s last year (some reports say that WBTV, in fact, has an offer out to Sheen for two more years at around $1 million per episode). Representatives for CBS and Warner Bros. TV declined to comment.

The studio temporarily halted production of Men last month after Sheen announced he would spend time in a rehab facility. He returned to the set March 16, the day after his lawyer entered a not guilty plea on behalf of his client to charges of felony menacing, criminal mischief, and third degree assault, which stem from an alleged Christmas day argument with his wife, Brooke Mueller. A trial date has been set for July 21.

It seems unlikely that Sheen would want to leave the show that made him one of the highest-paid actors on TV today. There’s some thought around Hollywood that the actor could be angling for an even richer salary given the show’s continued success on CBS: At 14.98 million, Men remains TV’s most-watched comedy.

      • KC

I can’t believe this show gets such high ratings! Are people that easily entertained? These must be the same dopes that still watch Jay Leno.

      • mary

Or at leasr some attention not centered around his ugly personal life. The guy should be grateful his butt wasn’t canned because of the clauses tied to his contract. I’m sure his narcissism has CS convinced that he’s still a hot commodity, instead of a hot mess. This show was funny when the kid was young. Now, it’s just kind of sad. Would NOT be a loss for this one to just go away, well, besides for the other cast & crew needing to find other jobs. Shouldn’t be enough reason to keep this creep employed & earning A list salary.

I hope it is a prank, Two and a Half Men is the only thing that makes my day!!!!

    • phil

If he quits, that should free up some of his time for drinking.

      • Robin

Starbuck877, it’s a little late for you to be on the Internet, isn’t it, honey? Shouldn’t you be writing your book report for 7th grade Language Arts?

      • DB

Dude, that show is awful. Okay, I get it…he’s a sleazy womanizer, his brother is a wimp, and the kid is an obnoxious (and stupid) d-bag. That’s pretty much the whole joke and they’ve been making episodes of this for HOW long? Why are you people watching it?

      • phil

It is a pretty bad show. It’s the same type of humor we had when we were 14.

      • mcfly

I’ll bet you were a Saved By the Bell fan as a kid too.

    • what?

Are you kidding? That show sucks.

      • Alex 88

This show is the best, so please dont share your opinions, you don’t have a clue what your talking aboute, okey Mr Sheen have some problem in his private life, but on the screen his great, let it be with that!!!…

      • frap

totally. and alex88 he can share whatever opinions he want

      • UGH

I can’t believe what I’m reading with you twits defending this garbage!

    • Pookie

Amen! Go away you wife-beating idiot. You dad must be ashamed from your stupid antics.

    • Bebe

Please. This show and the evil Charlie Sheen aren’t going anywhere. He just wants more $$$. And I’m sure his pact with Satan is still good, so he’ll get it. And we’ll have to put up with the talentless douchebag for many years to come.

  • Lana

I hope this isn’t an April Fools joke, because now the show can finally be called “Half a Man” where Jon Cryer and the kid get into an accident and are transformed into one bionic half-a-man where they beat on the live studio audience! Hilarity ensues!

  • maiv

The showrunners must be crapping their pants…

    • maiv

Which is why I’m a bit inclined that this may be a joke.

    • jayc4life

Not likely, they’ll have more time to focus on The Big Bang Theory, not to mention not having to shell out a massive paycheck every episode. Money saved if he does, especially if he walks instead of gets fired, because then he won’t be entitled to a severance compensation either.

  • bob

hopefully lana’s scenario is true, because that was hilarious.

  • Daniel F

    Hooray!

  • Shadow55551

    Lol good April Fools Joke

  • downtown diva

I don’t think this is an April Fool’s joke because I remember hearing or reading something around the beginning of the year that Sheen was contemplating leaving the show after this season. Even though I still enjoy watching, it’s mainly because of Conchata Ferrell’s (sic) “Berta’s” wisecracks, I think the show will likely fold without Sheen’s Charlie. He may simply be tired of the role, and maybe the high pay isn’t enough incentive to get him to want to stay. We’ll see.

    • Shadow55551

Yeah sad thing is that the show has already been renewed for another season.

  • li

I think it’s bc chuck lorre won’t let him be a real producer and have more of a say. I read that he and lorre are at an impasse. At least do one more season to wrap it up right. He has to marry Rose.

  • tom8786

    this not funny

    i love this show

  • William Jones

Now why would a big green fly abandon that steamy turd?

  • Cjk

I am so sick of these mean spirited shows and ridiculously over-paid, spoiled actors that the press continually fawns over. The money needs to go to more important things.

  • mathew mattis

Finally, the end of this pervert. Everything revolves about nailing women and his “winner”. It’s time to grow up… dude!

    • brian

If you don’t like to show him why would you even comment on it?

    • Dav

Because we can. There is no law that says you can only comment if you like something. Expressing displeasure is just as important as expressing delight. Now please go away and stop with this tired, stupid argument.

      • Ray

Dave u r an idiot. People lighten up it is a comendy and it is damn funny. After a hard day in the real world i like to come home to something stupid funny. People like dave r losers and just jealous people. He is not over paid, if anything he is under paid. He brings the networks millions and how could the money go to something else what a stupid comment. He earned it, he is the draw weather u like it or not. His talent has made him millions and i dont begrudge him of that. People that do r just upset that they have failed in life and want everyone else to fail, grow up dave and get a life

  • T_cruise

    Aaahh…….he is a weenie!!

  • bubba

    WHO CARES? Spoiled actors anyway!
