'True Blood' scoop: Meet Merlotte's newest hire!

lauren-bowlesImage Credit: Mathew Imaging/FilmMagicMerlotte’s is adding yet another wackadoodle to its payroll: Lauren Bowles has been cast in the major recurring role of Holly, an oddly prescient single mom who gets hired as a waitress at Sam’s watering hole.

Look for Bowles, whose credits include Watching Ellie, Seinfeld, and The New Adventures of Old Christine (she’s the half-sister of Julia Louis-Dreyfus), to debut midway through True Blood‘s upcoming third season and possibly return as a series regular in season 4.

I wonder if her Red Shirt means something….

No MBA, I decided to take a break after ingtteg my BA, which everyone knows means there’s only a 5% chance that you’ll actually end up going back to school. How many poodles is too many poodles?

  • jimbob

Yeah, probably. Especially since it says in the article that she’s coming back for Season 4…

Holly in the books in a minor character at first, but ends up being A LOT MORE leading Team Sookie into a great war.

  • Allison

yeah she is more important later on, don’t think in the third book she is all that special.

Oh my gosh! It looks like such a fantastic time! I LOVE how you put all the puceirts at the bottom of the post. That is Awesome. I am SO jealous that you got to meet two of my FAVORITE photographers! I just love Jennifer and Julia so much! Have a wonderful week! Can’t wait to see more puceirts of yours in the future!

WOD as Rx’ed. Strength pullups using a 10lb wegiht around waist off and on throughout sets. Did 5.5 rounds of WOD with 105 for pushpress and 125 for squat, using just one bar adding/taking off wegiht between sets during recovery

I wanna see the fairy twins if they are gonna go that route or not? I’m guessing yes b/c they keep hinting at sook’s specialness, but will they show the twins…and who will play that hot sibs?

    • Nic.

Me, too! I can’t watch True Blood (I don’t have HBO), but I like to see who has been cast and how they fit with my perception from reading the books. I think Eric was PERFECT casting :)

      • Rachel

You can watch TrueBlood on line at several places but I like Yidio.com the best!

    • Daniel

      Bring on HOT CLAUDE!

    • Mrs. Frisby

I’ve been dying to see Claude and Claudine (and Claudette for her brief moments) too! I hope they bring them into the show at some point.

  • Dani in NC

This actress fits my vision of Holly from reading the books, unlike many of the actors cast in this show.

    • Kate

I thought Holly was an early-20s brunette?

  • Stacie

I don’t like her. Not sure why. Maybe cause I pictured Holly more feminine than this woman.

  • davidsask

If I go by the unflattering picture you have posted she does nothing for me!

  • Christopher

I knew I’d seen her somewhere before, but despite the credits listed, I couldn’t remember why she stuck out in my mind… and then it hit me: she’s the waitress that gives George the ‘bird’ surreptitiously!

    • Brian

      In which show?

      • Mouse

        Seinfeld.

    • Jessica

      AHAHAHA AWESOME.

I’ve read the first 5 books in the series but I’m having a hard time remembering her character. Hmm.

  • dorian

Noooooooooooooooooooo! Lauren Bowles is a horrible casting decision. Horrible. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

  • rebekah

i think holly was one of the witches in the books right?

  • Starr

Yah, she was the wicca that was semi-helping Sookie.

  • red

She’s so much like I pictured her from the books. Great casting!!

  • BF

I’ve seen her on a BUNCH of stuff through the years. Great addition to an AWESOME show.
