Hate to break it to you guys, the stage that Conan used was STRUCK AND DISASSEMBLED. It was torn down. It’s gone. Yes. NBC really did destroy the set. The pictures were put online by Bley on his blog. The stage is KAPUT. Gone. Trashed. Dismantled. Struck. Bye bye.

    • Brian

Hey, Jimbo. You’re wrong! The set was struck and dismantled. The studio remains. SO it is in the running, can be refurbished, and might be used again — by Conan!

  • Jed

It’d be a separate deal with NBC for the rights to the sound stage…NBC is desperate to make money any way they can, so rent it out to O’Brien and try to recoup some losses and put the petty crap aside. It’s over and done with.

  • Cate

I swear I remember them tearing it down, too. There were photos.

    • Brian

Set = torn down. Studio = intact.

  • Heather

I can see the argument for the old and the new stages…. the new one was just sooooooo pretttyyyy. Of course, i’m an art deco freak so i might be biased…

    • TR

I agree it was really pretty. I loved the art deco look. Such a shame.

I also loved the color pallet used- ‘Late Night’ was too blue for someone with Conan’s skin tone. His ‘Tonight show’ was much warmer hues.

      • Brian

I liked the colors of the Late Night studio more than the Tonight Show set’s colors. I thought Late Night was more purple than anything, and Tonight was blue. Yay, talking about Conan.

    • Brian

Don’t worry, whatever set Conan settles at will be art deco. Them’s his steez.

  • stephen

just a question to Chris. If the article was stupid why did you read it and then to add insult to injury you commented..not a mature or even childish comment but a stupid one.

  • Rex

Conan shouldn’t give NBC/Universal one penny to rent back his “old” stage. Let it sit empty and hang like an albatross around NBC’s scrawny neck.

    • N. Smith

      Rex, I totally agree!!!

  • RekcufYeh

Seems if he moved back in it would be a way of thumbing his nose at NBC in a “it’s mine and i’m not moving out” type of way.

  • N. Smith

I want Conan to come back to NYC!

  • N. Smith

Conan belongs on the east coast and in New York City.

  • N. Smith

Conan belongs on the east coast!

  • N. Smith

Andy, was not the problem, it was NBC for not allowing Conan to be true to his comedy! Once he realized he was no longer NBC’s property, his shows were great.

  • Zorch

I think the big question is whether
Max will be part of the TBS show.
He is not on the tour and he reportedly has assembled a new 15
piece band and will be performing
    somewhere in June.
He also reportedly wanted to replace Kevin Eubanks on the Tonight show, but that post has now been taken.

  • Matt

Why are we all up in arms over this guy? He makes more money in 6 months than 99% of us will make in our whole lifetime. Boo hoo hoo. He lost the Tonight Show and had to get payed 30 million to leave. Wah wah. Puhlease.

    • Matt is a loser

Why should we care about your crybaby opinion. Wah Wah Wah practice what you preach.

  • Paul

The best sound stage for Conan would be an empty one. He would wear a bag over his head and someone else would do the talking. In other words, he’s a strange-looking unfunny dude who doesn’t deserve his own show.
