Exclusive: 'Glee' plotting major arc for Finn and... Terri!

glee-terri-finnImage Credit: Patrick Ecclesine/Fox; Relax, Glee isn’t taking a trip to Cougar Town. While it’s true that series creator Ryan Murphy is plotting a major season-ending story line involving Terri and Finn, the exec insists the relationship will be strictly platonic.

“Finn gets a job at Sheets & Things,” explains Murphy of the chain store where Will’s soon-to-be ex-wife works. “He is very down on himself, and Terri realizes that she was not very supportive of her husband and she sees a lot of him in Finn.

“She met Will at 16,” he reminds us, “so she sees a way to redemption…a way to redo that relationship in a positive way [by acting] almost as Finn’s guardian angel, his fairy godmother. She gives him proper moral advice. I liked seeing Jessalyn [Gilsig] and Cory [Monteith] work together.”

So much so that Murphy says the story will “will carry into season 2.” A romance, however, is not in the cards. “I don’t want to do that,” he says. “And I don’t think our audience would go for that. We just want to keep it a friendship.”

Smart move? Or do you think Murphy should play the cougar card with these two? Sound off below! BTW, how about last night’s ratings! (Additional reporting by Carrie Bell)

A friendship – cool. Relationship — no! What is this “The OC”? Ryan Murphy is doing the right thing by keeping it platonic.

    • Maggie

I agree Brian. I think that although this is Glee and we do suspend disbelief to a point, suggesting the taboo/illegal romantic relationship between a minor and an adult sends the worng message. Sure we all know that this is fiction and that it’s wrong in real life, but with all the teacher/student romances coming to light in the recent past – this would be a dangerous path to tread/hint at…. jmo

        *wrong* (sp)

      • Topher

Just wait till John G and Idina are bumping uglies

      • alex

I agree with you, but she’s not his teacher, so that wouldn’t be an issue.

      • David4

If he is 16 than it is legal in most states.

I think that Glee has long since crossed the line where it’s clear they’re not too concerned about being a good influence or a positive role model. I think a romantic relationship just wouldn’t be a good idea, character-wise. Finn has already been jerked around by too many women, and it would damage his relationship with Mr Schuester.

Uh, this weeks episode Will says that Terri and himself started dating at 15. This article says she met him when he was 16. Booya! Error caught. Lol.

      GOOD GOD ENOUGH ALREADY,
sorry to scream like that but damn.
There are other shows. When 50 percent of your posts are about that show it gets old.sorry.

      Love you though….

      • Patrick

Um, the story above is about gLee, so why would someone post in here about another show? If you’re tired of hearing about it, I wonder why you’re reading the story and taking the time to post.

      • Cas

        Go away, whiny troll.

      • Nick C

You called me a troll,im crushed.

It’s a fact that there are a ton of Glee posts. It’s also a fact that there are other shows out there and im sick of them not getting attention…if you don’t like my opinion well that’s a YOU problem….i love the Ausiello Files and just wish he was more balanced…

    • rene

      ABSOLUTELY NOT!!
      no relationship, no friendship.
redeeming terri means she and will may get back together.
      ABSOLUTELY NOT!!
have never liked the character or her sister. i get my snark from sue, and that’s all that is needed.
cut terri and her sister out of the show … period.

    • Alia

Agree. The whole cougar thing has been done to death (Dawson’s Creek, The OC, twice on Gossip Girl). I’d be disappointed if Glee went there.

  • RH

No, they shouldn’t go to Cougar Town. But they are obviously looking for ways to keep the character of Terri in play. This way makes a bit of sense.

  • Johnification

Sounds like a nice arc for Terri. If you wanna play the cougar card, I would say Terri and Puck!

    • Maserda

Yeah, a nice redemption story-arc. This will be interesting to see it come out.

    • ash

Please let it stay platonic. It would be nice to see her, er, nice side.

  • Joe

Oh my god. The storylines on this show are ridiculous. I’ve enjoyed the songs, but the story just destroys this show.

    • @ Joe

Then stop watching and STOP posting on the board if you hate it so much!

      • Beautiful

        then just buy the soundtrack

    • f*ckjoe

      Idiot

    • Jeff Gerard

You know, I’m with you on this. The storylines are too absurd to take seriously. I fast forward through most of the story and any time Leah Michelle is not singing. Her speaking voice and mannerisms annoy me.

      • Cas

It’s a satire, so (A) the plotlines are supposed to be absurd; if you’re taking them seriously, you’re doing it wrong, and (B) Lea’s character is supposed to be annoying. She’s not like that IRL.

    • Robo

This show is supposed to satirical in nature, hence the crazy story lines. This is why the show is so funny, hard to take seriously in many ways yet hilarious and entertaining. Its pretty obvious that its not a serious show…I mean really, who breaks out into random song and dance on a regular basis?

      • Sarah

        I know I do…..

    • em

yeah, but sometimes it DOES take itself way too seriously. and that’s when it’s too much.

    • Jenn

I don’t hate the show, but I do enjoy the musical numbers more than any of the story, so I mainly just watch for those.

  • Jen

Maybe I’ve just watched too much Nip/Tuck, but them getting together wouldn’t even make me blink.

    • TKay

lol..agreed! when you have watched Nip/Tuck nothing shocks you anymore…

    • zulfa fuadi

o..y..mybe you have true wathed he..

      • Sarah

        speaky any english?

  • Sally

Keep it platonic. A cougar card would be too cliche.

  • Mary Q. Contrary

Perfect! When I read the headline, I was like, NONONO. But I can deal with a friendship. I liked their scenes together when she was giving him amphetamines (Hahahaha, so funny, even just to type), and I think the two characters have a believable rapport.

  • sparkle the gym bag

please kill that &*&^$$ off she brings nothing good….and why would Finn be working at Sheet store? come on!!! sporting goods, restaurant, etc.,

    • Bri

OH HELL NO. Terri is awesome, I love to hate her.

      • mary q contrary

Agreed. She’s terrific, in the same way Sue is, just not as much.

      • em

        She makes me laugh.

  • jordan

    GREAT idea (platonic, of course)

  • ben

I was skeptical when I read the first part but after reading “Finn’s guardian angel, his fairy godmother. She gives him proper moral advice” I think its going to be priceless

    • Keir

I totally agree. Teri is in no position to be giving anyone advice (moral or otherwise), so I can’t wait!

Finn is very malleable; it’s going to be comedy gold.

  • Cheery

Sounds like a logical storyline to keep Terri around, which is good cause I like her. But she better step off my girl Emma!

  • Katie

    Hell-NO to any romance.

  • michael

If they plan on keeping Teri in Will’s sights, they need to do something to make her character more palatable. Up to this point, I’m still having a difficult time understanding what Will saw in her. I love Jess, but Teri is grating, even when she’s not trying to be. I’d like to see her remain a part of the cast but her character needs to evolve a bit.

    • charlotte

I totally agree! She’s such an unlikeable character but she also had some of the funniest lines. It would be interesting to see how her character will evolve to stay relevant in the show if she’s no longer with Will.

I like this new pairing but I’m glad that they’re going to keep it platonic. That would just be too much.

      • vanka

She shoul be hire the school nurse again. That episode was hillarious!!

    • DivaSoulSista

I think having her work with Finn would do that, especially if it’s platonic and she does give him some good advice. It could go a long way to making her character evolve … and be a little more human!

  • Dennis

Cougar card will be played. Guaranteed.

  • Jill

Actually I think it’d be hysterical. Finn could not handle being in a relationship with her. I don’t think he’d do that to Will, but I think it would be really funny if they did.
