'CSI' exclusive: Returning star holds key to Dr. Jekyll mystery

Tags: , , News, Scoop

CSI is bringing back a familiar face to assist Langston (Laurence Fishburne) in his season-long pursuit of Dr. Jekyll.

Tony winner Bill Irwin is set to reprise his role as Nate Haskell (a.k.a. the Dick and Jane Killer) in this season’s final two episodes.

“Nate knows who Dr. Jekyll is, which is kind of interesting since he’s been in prison for the last 11 years,” notes executive producer Carol Mendelsohn. “The [May 20] season finale is all about what it will take to get him to give them a name.”

His return adds a nice twist to the Jekyll plot since, as Mendelsohn reminds us, “It was Nate who pushed Grissom out of the lab and put Langston in back in season 9.”

The finale builds to a violent confrontation with Jekyll, during which “blood will be spilled,” Mendelsohn confirms. “And it will belong to more than one CSI.”

If anything happens to Catherine I WILL stop watching. I love this show, have done for years, but she (and Greg and Nick and Sara) are what is keeping me tuning in!

    • GROWING PAINS FAN

This show stinks anyway, watch HUMAN TARGET – a truly awesome show. Along with FRINGE and LOST, it ranks as one of the best shows on tv today.

      • Andrew

Yes Human Target is a great show and Lost and Fringe. The networks will drop these shows like “Life” and two other recent police drammas and the one with the “hot” Marshall in it. Just the loser shows like DWTS and Top model and crap survive nowadays.

  • Nerwen Aldarion

So this guy is pulling a Ted Bundy and going to help?

    • voluptuousdate

      Love him on hte show

  • Bobby

Just please somehow get Grissom back.I don’t even care if it’s only for one episode.I’m getting so bored with all these CSI’s.

  • ALS

Nate Haskell did not push Grissom out of the Lab but the case involving Haskell did hold Grissom back from leaving until the case was solved. I hope that Catherine aka MH stays on CSI for a while longer.

    • Caroline

I was just gonna say the same thing. (minus the Catherine comment)It’s surprising that the show runner doesn’t remember her own storylines.

  • Billy

    Grissom is Dr. Jekyll lol

    • KenPez

      Wouldn’t THAT be a hoot???

    • Heather

or Sara =D Honestly I am happy Sara is around again, but she isn’t even as interesting without Grissom…this show needs him back asap.

  • Kat

Hey, I’ve been wondering if maybe there will any good Huddy moments on House. So can you please share any information you might have?

    • Andrew

Cuddy has a kid now and a new BF in her life. I prefer House single and crazy like he is.

      • Caroline

        Amen

  • Elle

Blood spilled… as in leaving the show?

    *gulp* /cries

  • jenna

Yeah, Grissom’s decision to leave wasn’t because of Haskell. Sad when fans have to correct the showrunner. lol.
Oh well, I hope the twist is that Haskell pushes Langston out, and Grissom comes back!

  • Matt

MR Noodle a murderer?? Appalling!! Someone needs to get Elmo into witness protection

    • Marie

HAHA! That’s what I thought too!

      • bootsycolumbia

        Me too!

      • Bwana

        Amen

  • Mcat

All I want is more Greg, seriously. I think he had more screen-time when he WASN’T a CSI.

    • Jenn

You’re not the only one! I sometimes feel like I only see him 3 minutes in the whole hour, while Langston is Just. Always. THERE!

  • kiran

“It was Nate who pushed Grissom out of the lab and put Langston in back in season 9.”I hope he realizes his mistake and pushes Langston out of the lab……….I want GRISSOM..BRING HIM BACK!!!!!!!!!!

  • Faye

Catherine can go anytime,it would be nice to see her go!!

    • DenverDean

LF has been getting more comfortable in role, but noone can replace Grissom. MH has been second fiddle for too long. She should have received opening credit instead of LF (or at least rotate the two). Hope she’s not victim.

      • jake

I cannot stand LF on the show.

  • Steve

1 theory is that Langston is Dr Jekyll…. He works at a hospital that didn’t have any hispanic patients until he drew up an advert so he knows the prodecures. He refused to give his DNA and he had a mentally ill father and quite easily during his job as a csi had something trigger a mental breakdown.

    • Craig

Holy crap, that would be an awesome reveal! You’ve officially got me interested in this show again.

    • Jenn

That would not only be an amazing twist, but it would also get Langston thrown out of CSI and into jail, which would make me very happy :D

  • Craig

I stopped following this show halfway through the season. The Dr. Jekyll thing was interesting, but details about him were spread too thin between episodes, and I had too many other shows on my schedule.

But if Grissom is returning, it looks like I may have to line up my DVR’d episodes and have a mini-marathon.

  • loop

    WE WANTs GRISSOMs !!!
