'Castle' finale exclusive: Beckett and Castle will [spoiler alert]!

Tags: , , News, Scoop

castleImage Credit: Karen Neal/ABCCastle is about to cut the sexual tension between its leading gumshoes with a machete. Executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe reveals that Castle and Beckett will exit the denial phase of their relationship in the show’s May 17 season finale.

“Beckett and Castle finally realize their attraction to each other is too strong to deny,” he tells me, “and decisions must be made by each of them.”

What decisions? And does it involve Beckett’s forthcoming romance with a certain blazing hot Battlestar Galactica toaster? Marlowe would only say that Castle’s “not-too-subtle jealousy” over his partner’s new lover will lead to “a competition for Beckett’s affection” as the season draws to a close.

Thoughts? Think they’ll go there with C and B? And, if so, is it too soon? Sound off below!

No its not too soon. Look at Bones….we have been waiting 2000 years for Bones and Boothe to get it on…get it over with.

    • Lindsey

Exactly what I thought. I’m not a big Castle/Beckett fan, but I have a feeling it will be similar to the Bones ending in the 100th episode.

      • Alia

Gah, I hope not. That was a bit too depressing to fly on Castle.

But maybe some less emotional version… They agree not to act on it as long as they’re still working together or something. I dunno.

      • Carmen

I kind of think that they will go into a “don’t ask, don’t tell” type of arrangement for a season or 2.

      • Samy

seriously if this ends up being like the end of the bones 100th episode, i will cry. or scream. or break something. why does nobody allow the characters i love to get it together already?!?! argh.

    • Edisto

YES!! Thank you. My thoughts exactly. However I don’t think it’ll be that easy. There’ll be some sort of twist, which will take us into the next season and possibly beyond. But if it’s true it would certainly make up for what’s going on in ‘Bones’ at the moment.

    • Sidney

omg i know!! i mean i love bones with all of my heart but it’s goten to the point where we have just been waiting and waiting and waiting and i just didnt want to have to do that with castle
Especially because the attraction between the characters on castle is much more prnounced and the characters are even somewhat aknowledg-ing of that attraction.
      I CANT WAIT!!!!!

      • Pemberley

Exactly what I think. They both know it, and they know the other one knows too. Did you see that smile in Castles face when she had this jealous outburst at the end??? So cute! Go for it Rick!!

      • voluptuousdate

        i love him, so cool

      • chickenfries7

@Sidney i completely agree with you!
i hate bones for keeping B&B apart for so long that they missed their moment
i thought castle would be different! :( please dont let me be wrong

    • Petra

They waited so long that I don’t even care about Booth and Bones together anymore. In the beginning I really wanted them to get together, but over the years I got over it.

      • Zoey

Me too. I don’t even watch the show anymore, but that’s because they completely ruined the characters.

      • charlotte

I kinda felt bad about abandoning Bones but yeah, I think they waited too long. Five seasons, right? I mean, I used to LOVE this show but somehow, I just stopped caring.

      • chickenfries7

lol I’m with all you guys I just can’t watch Bones anymore
but I’m finally hooked on this show now and i dont want the same thing to happen AGAIN

  • Penelope

    YES YES YES

    • tvfan

But are you worried this is a fake-out? Maybe he will dream it or write about it – like Bones last year!

  • 37ft

    Whatever gets Fillion’s shirt off.

    • Julia

      Amen.

      • Katheryn Mae

        Ditto.

      • Mindy

        My thoughts exactly!

    • CindyC.

      Preach!

    • andi

      Absolutely!

    • yoshira

amen to that, he is sooooo gorgeous!!!

    • Pemberley

Rolling on the floor laughing!!! You are so right about that! :-)

    • yo

lol couldn’t agree more. that man is gorgeous!

    • erinimrie

      37ft, you are extremely wise

  • BonesBird

GET IN THERE CASTLE!!! Do what Bones has been promising it’s fans.

  • s

    Yes!! Yes!! and Yay!!

  • V

    PLEASE

  • alisa

part of me is like YESSSSSS!!! but the other part of me thinks Michael Trucco is a demigod. So they also have to fight for MY affections too.

    • alisa

and i’ll be looking forward to every second.

      • Darcy

        Me too!

    • redreh

HAHA. This comment is so much win. Michael Trucco is pretty much amazeballs.

If I could see a man-fight with him and Nathan Fillion, both at some point being forced to remove their shirts…
      Oh yes.

      • Ingrid

I would LOVE to see that.

    • B

Yeah – I wouldn’t mind the jealousy phase going on for a while if it means Trucco on the screen! And there has to be real reason for the jealousy – physical reason, you know? Not just the presence of another guy.

  • LostLisa

I can’t wait for them to be together but I also know it will probably kill it. I’m still not over Maddie and David…

    • pete

OMG….Dave and Maddie…I thought the same thing, most shows are not the same and go down hill once they get together

      • Kawula

My dad’s 50th birthday is cnomig up, we have organised a surprise dinner at an exclusive restaurant. The dessert at this restaurant is fantastic and we have opted not to have a birthday cake for this reason. I feel as though one of the main celebratory components of the birthday party is missing without the cake it feels less personal and special. Is there something else I can do or use in place of the birthday cake?

    • California Lady

      Thank you! Ditto and ditto…

    • Topanga

I couldn’t agree more. What happened Dave and Maddie finally got together was just painful to experience. Much as I would love Castle and Beckett to get together, I don’t think I could watch a beloved show implode like that again. I can’t believe they are addressing this, it’s only the second season!

      • maryc

Can we stop with the Dave/Maddie comparisons? There is more to contrast there than to compare:
        1. Moonlighting itself was a bear. They rarely completed a full season.
        2. The leads hated each other.
        3. The season after “the big moment”, Cybill Shepherd got pregnant with twins, Bruce Wilis got the movie Die Hard. These two situations meant that the two leads were not on the set at the same time very much that next season. Hence, the need for the writers to write episodes that kept D/M apart.
        4. Moonlighting didn’t go downhill because D/M got together, it went downhill because the writers kept them apart!

I don’t think Castle will go the way Moonlighting did. I trust the writers on Castle to really be able to take the fans where they want it to go, without the boring “get em together/break em up” cliche that has been the method in every show with UST.

Plus, I think the whole staff of that show have a lot more respect for their fans than to even consider tripping down the Path of Cliche.

      • KayKay1

I’m with you Maryc. Don’t believe in the cliche. It will be great to see characters with the ability to banter get together and not be dragged around for years waiting for it to happen.

      • Clio

Thank you maryc! I wish this false story would hurry up and die the horrible death it deserves. I was watching Moonlighting at the time, and I stopped not because they got together, but because then Maddy showed up married to that random astronaut we had never seen before, and I realized I couldn’t trust the show to get them together. MUCH more like Bones, actually, in its mistakes.

      • Ruby

Yeah maryc. I’ve grown tired of trying to defend ML against its stupid curse label.

  • Shadow Step

I see absolutely zero attraction between those two – Filion is too in love with himself, and she isn’t a good enough actress to portray it *g*

But as long as the show is funny (and cut down on the too braindead exposition !) then I don’t care either way – so shippers – run amok ;)

    • Anna

Do NOT say bad things about The Fillion. He’s funny and smart with a cute a$$.

      • yo

LMAO Great description! And yeah, he’s just perfect. And Stana is a good actress.

    • Melinda65

I’m with Anna–don’t piss off the Fillionaires! :P Castle may be in love with himself, but don’t confuse the character with the actor who portrays him.

      • TSC

Great name! I’ll have to use that, if you will allow me?

      • Melinda65

It’s not mine–it was coined by members of the Firefly fan community, but feel free to use it!

    • Caroline

I totally agree. I love him, and she is fine as a cop, but I just don’t see any chemistry between the two of them. I feel like it’s being forced, not like it’s organically there on Bones. I’d rather wait forever and enjoy the natural chemistry that Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz has than see these two get forced together so soon.

      • Coyote

I couldn’t have said it better.

      • TvLove

I agree. From the start you don’t see the chemistry you see in Bones.
        Hehe, I’m not biased xD
Castle’s a great show, I don’t want it going in the wrong direction.

    • Pemberley

Let him be in love with himself, after all there is lots to be in love with !

  • Nancy

They need to get Castle and Beckett together. And don’t say “Moonlighting Curse”. The curse was that Bruce Willis and Cybill Sheperd hated each other. Fillion and Katic get along well from what I’ve seen in interviews and behind the scenes vids.

    • Maddi

THIS! I love the UST of the show but it will only get BETTER if they’re actually in a relationship. The only thing I hope they don’t do is have them breakup/makeup a zillion times, ala Ross and Rachel. But I think the Castle writers are smarter than that.

      • Heidi

I agree. Go the Jim and Pam route or the couple on the Mentalist – they can hide it from others for awhile because Beckett will want to while Castle will want to shout it from the rooftops. They can have their flirtatious days with a few stolen moments, a few scared moments too where one was in trouble…and some hot nights :) I think it could work. Sometimes it is anti-cliche to have a couple just get together and be a healthy couple with typical ups and downs, hard choices, along with passion and whimsy. I think this show could do it.

    • maybe not

Maybe not. I read a blind vice reveal a few months ago about Nathan and Stana. If true, I’d say they do not get along.

  • kelly

Look, they are cute and funny and as much as I enjoy the show it’s not one to last for yrs and yrs. Bring on the smoochin,!!

    • sam

The show is going into its third season with its highest ratings ever. Hopefully it is good for a few more, at least.

  • ptvj

I only hope they don’t build us up just to disappoint us like Bones. That gets old fast. They don’t have to jump into bed but some forward momentum would be great. These two are so entertaining together. They’d be really fun as a couple.

    • Ashton

      completely agree!

  • Katheryn Mae

Yes, yes, yes! Look at all these other shows with the main pairing and how the fans are reacting. Everyone wants the main couples to get together and this one of the few shows that actually going with it!

  • Amy

yeah i agree i don’t think its too soon, like in Bones, you wait ages for the characters to get together and if they don’t it starts to get repetitive

  • Cricket Girl

I am so tired of television shows that endlessly, needlessly tease relationships that are obviously meant to happen. Adult romances can happen without destroying the story telling. In fact, if the writers and/or show runners were any good at their jobs, they would find ways to have the stories and the backstory (the romance) work together for the benefit of audience & performer alike! Sex happens in the work place people, deal with it!!!

    • aby

I couldn’t agree more. There is no Moonlighting curse, just a lack of imagination on the part of most of Hollywoods writers and apparently they think all couples are boring. Friday Night Lights and Medium being the exception since both do an excellent job of showing happily married couples who aren’t the least bit boring.

      • Bikram

Interesting post!!! I’ve never been to a White Castle. I’m blog hopping and found your blog. I’m foolnwilg. Would love for you to check out my blog and follow back! Have a great weekend!

    • redreh

      PREACH IT.

Seriously, thank you. Thank you thank you thank you, MTE.

    • LisaMama

TOTALLY AGREE! I would love to see more actual couples on TV that have happy, healthy relationships (like Marshall and Lilly on How I Met Your Mother or Med/Der on Grey’s).

    • Kat

Amen to that! Let’s see what the writers are made of, instead of running with their tails tucked between their legs for fear of the “Moonlighting Curse”. As Castle might say… “Reverse the curse!” These two are great together and if the writers are as talented as I think they are, then they could easily pull off several seasons of sexy banter, sweet moments, and the struggles of maintaining work, love, and the fine line between.

      • Marlyn

I totally agree Kat! Who says that two people can’t be together and still have a great show? For once, I would love to see this happen instead at the END of a series. The same could be said of “Bones”. They’ve had some real lame storylines on that show, (Angela in the lebian relationship, Cam & Bones, etc), They need to “man up” and get them together!

    • Jess

oh my god! i agree 100000% with you! forget about moonlighting curse whatsoever! now i love castle/beckett even more because their relationship is more playful and full of funny banter. and i don’t think the season 2 finale will end up like Bones 100th, i get this strong feeling that it’s gonna be in sweet + funny :)
