'Royal Pains' exclusive: 'Trauma' star 'replaces' Hank!

griffith-feuersteinImage Credit: Jeffrey Mayer/WireImage.com; Justin Stephens/USAExpect some major fireworks in the Hamptons this summer.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Trauma actress Anastasia Griffith is joining the cast of Royal Pains in the major recurring role of Dr. Emily Peck, a no-nonsense MD and a potential business rival of Hank’s (Mark Feuerstein).

SPOILER ALERT! Griffith’s doc will be introduced during the USA Network hit’s second season (premiering June 3) when Boris (Campbell Scott) hires her to temporarily fill in for an MIA Hank.

As previously reported, Happy Days vet Henry Winkler is also joining the season 2 cast as Hank and Evan’s (Paulo Costanzo) absentee dad.

Griffith, who was also a fixture on FX’s Damages during its first two seasons, recently completed work on season 1 of Trauma. The struggling NBC drama is not expected back next fall.

An odd Damages reunion, if you think about it. Campbell Scott is on Damages now, while Griffith was on the first two seasons. On another note: SAVE DAMAGES!

  • Lorie

Good casting news! I’ll be bummed when Trauma gets cancelled, but I’m glad that I’ll see her in RP. Can’t wait for the season to begin.

  • Candice

While I am probably one of the few still watching and loving Trauma, I also watch Royal Pains and am glad to see “Nancy” on another show!

    • Nanci

I watched it every monday. I am pissed that they are talking about not bring it back. Trauma was like the show Third Watch.

  • aria

Trauma has grown on me, but i won’t be heartbroken, when it doesn’t return.
As for this: I’d prefer to see her brother Jamie Bamber on American TV some time soon, but good for her.

    • Marilyn

True, I miss seeing Jamie on my TV. But Anastasia is a good actress in her own right. So I’m glad that she is going to be on RP. Hopefully it will get her some needed exposure.

Mean headline, Aussie! I truly thought the role of Hank was going to be recast! Blasphemy! This is one of the shows where the stories are just okay but you watch for the characters.

  • MaryJane

Trauma must have more fans than it is given credit for because I, too, love that show, it is one of my favorites. Not interested in Royal Pains so I guess that’s one I won’t be watching. It’s just too bad that NBC has a lousy record with promoting some of its shows, otherwise, more people would be watching Trauma and it would still be around for next season.

  • DomeFoam

I thought at first this meant that the actor was actually being replaced. Whew!!!

  • TMRZooNeil

OK show, like others who have commented I watch it more for the characters than the plotlines. But, as USA says, “Characters Welcome”.
Griffith was great on Damages, as Campbell Scott is now. It will be funny seeing them together on the same show at the same time.

  • TMRZooNeil

Oh yeah, ridiculous title to the column, and very misleading!!

  • Dee

Hee, I love her. Maybe she can get her brother to show up too. ;)

    • Dee

Ooh, and I hope she’s got her English accent instead of an American one.

  • Lily

Cannot wait for Royal Pains to come back- one of the great shows of the summer. This will be a great addition to the cast!

  • Alia

Oooooh, I smell a love triangle!

  • Morgan

I hope she’s going to be Hank’s new girlfriend because I can’t stand Jill. She’s the only bad note in the show.

    • Caroline

Agreed. I was confused by this headline but I was hoping it meant she was replacing Jill. I love the show so I’ll be watching anyway, but I’m bummed that this wasn’t the news I hoped it would be!

  • SMC

I love Trauma…better then Mercy and a few other medical shows..but I’m glad RP gets her.

    • Kelsey

Mercy is terrible. Really just a bad show.

  • Hettie

I have really grown to love Trauma, I am not expecting it to be back but I wish NBC would give it another year.
