The ex-Boomtown thesp will play Sgt. Joey Grant, a childhood friend of Harmon’s Boston homicide detective who’s now working as her boss. “Their relationship is equal parts attraction and loathing,” says a TNT source.

Slated to premiere in July, Rizzoli & Isles centers on the friendship between crime-solving friends Jane Rizzoli (Harmon) and medical examiner Maura Isles (Alexander).

Sopranos vet Lorraine Bracco costars as Harmon’s mother.

I’m glad to see Donnie acting again. After his stellar turns in “Band of Brothers” and “Boomtown”, I was pretty surprised that he decided to participate in a New Kids on the Block reunion.

    • Hannah

What do you mean by “acting again?” DW was on In Plain Sight just a few weeks ago.

    • melissa

I totally agree. I loved him in Band of Brothers. While I loved NKOTB when i was a kid, I was happy to see him do something more mature like his brother.

  • Joe the Ox

Actually going to have to check this show out–preferred Sasha on NCIS to the person currently in her seat. Throw Wahlberg into the mix, and I may have to ditch a current show to pick this one up.

  • Lina

Wow. What a cast! Angie Harmon, Sasha Alexander (miss her!) and Donnie Wahlberg?! I’m setting my DVR today!

  • Ky

Is it me, or does this sound strangely similar to another Angie Harmon drama, Women’s Murder Club? That said, I loved WMC and will definitely check this out.

  • Ginger

I’m gonna check this show out despite the fact I really can’t stand Sasha Alexander. I was so happy when they killed her off of NCIS I couldn’t stand it. Hopefully she won’t be on the show long.

  • Kaite

She will be on this show for the long haul seeing as the show is based off the books by Tess Gerristen. Although I enjoy both actresses they are nothing at all like they are in the book. I will still check this out, though

  • Maddy

I hop[e they will have him on for more than two episodes. I would watch it Donnie. He was awesome on Boomtown.

  • Bethy

I was really hoping for Sasha to make guest appearances on NCIS but if she is on another show that is unlikely. Ill check out the show just because of her

  • Ron

Ummm…Alexander’s NCS character was killed off – guest spots would be creepy.

    • jules

Agreed. Unless they faked her death which I don’t see how that’s possible since we clearly saw her with a bullet hole in her head, she won’t be returning any time soon. NCIS is not a soap…people don’t come back from the dead that often.

      Picture this if you will!
Tony is dating a woman played by SA who is not playing Kate but someone else, Tony does not see a resemblance at all and brings her to the office – Frivolity and laughter abound

  • J

I love the new kids. I’m glad they got back together and I’m glad to see Donnie acting. Definitely keeping me a fan. Love him!

  • jules

Love Sasha! I’m glad to hear that she’ll be on a new show. Will definitely be tuning in.

  • Monica

Any time Donnie is action I will watch.

  • Big D

I really like Angie Harmon, so this will probably get a look.

  • Julie

I thought Donnie was getting his own show on TNT. What happened with that? Bunker Hill, I think it was called.

  • Sam

I’m a fan of the Tess Gerritsen books, I didn’t know thy were makig a show based on them. The cast looks good, I hope the show is as good as the books.
