Exclusive: Scott Porter returns to 'Friday Night Lights'

scott-porterImage Credit: Mitchell Haaseth/NBCIt’s official: Scott Porter is heading back to Friday Night Lights!

Sources confirm to me exclusively that the celebrated (and sorely missed) Dillon alum is set to reprise his role as ex—Panthers QB Jason Street in the seventh episode of the show’s fifth season (slated to debut on DIRECTV this fall; the fourth season premieres on NBC on May 7)

Porter, who will find out next month whether his CIA-themed CW pilot, Nomads, will be picked up as a series, last appeared on FNL in season 3, when Jason relocated to New York to launch a career as a sports agent.

The actor is one of several FNL vets expected back for the drama’s (likely) final season. Other MVPs on EP Jason Katims’ wish list include Gaius Charles (Smash), Adrianne Palicki (Tyra), and Zach Gilford (Matt). Taylor Kitsch (Tim) and Jesse Plemons (Landry) are also scheduled to return for a handful of episodes.

Fantastic news. I can’t wait to see Porter and the others return. Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose!

  • SaraK

    Love him! Can’t wait!

What about MINKA KELLY….I miss/LOVE Lyla. I watched Season 4 on DirectTV and Saw she came back for 1 episode and it was a PERFECT episode but I WANT MORE of her…Minka is the reason I started watching and I love her so MUCH.

Now I’m done blabbing…Is there ANY chance she will come back and Tim/Lyla will get the happy ending we want and they DESERVE

    xoxo

That’s great news! I hope he’s back for a good reason though. I’d hate to hear that the sports agency didn’t work out. Maybe he’ll be scouting? That would be fun!

  • J

Nice! They need to get everyone back for the last episode. That’ll be so epic.

  • Lindsay

    Yay!

Season 4 just wasn’t the same without all the old characters. I get that people move on from high school, so they can’t all stay on the show forever. But, it just hasn’t been the same. I hope Six’s story gets a happy resolution. And I’m SO happy to hear Katims wants to bring everyone else back for a final curtain call.

  • Monica242

    This makes me insanely happy.

  • Beth

This is great news! I hope all the other original members sign up to come back! I need to say goodbye again…

  • harry

    street is the man!!!

  • w

YAY! I hope Gaius (Smash) can come back as well!

  • Julie Taylor

I have high hopes for the last season. I’m interested to see how they integrate all the new characters with the farewells of the returning originals. Hopefully they can give the beloved characters a good sense of closure along with wrapping up the stories of the newer ones as well. It’s Katims though, so I’m sure it will be brilliant and tears will be involved. CANNOT. WAIT.

  • Jenn

Great news!!! Season 4 was it’s best yet!!!

  • Janie

Great news! All these characters feel like old friends.

  • Amanda

Yay!!! I love Scott and Jason!!! I SO can’t wait to see him back on FNL!!! I’ve missed him on there since he left. Hopefully the rest will come back too!!!

  • Teresa

I guess he won’t appear again in Caprica.

    • EPZ

That’s okay with me, I enjoy Caprica, but I hate anything to do with Clarice so I wouldn’t miss him there.

    • Alia

      (SPOILER ALERT)

I think they killed him off in that car bomb.

      • PixxieTrixxie

I’m still hoping that he got out of the car to try to save Mrs. Graystone (for the life of me, I can’t remember her character’s first name). But probably not if he is trying for a series of his own.

      • Ellen

I have a hunch we’ll be seeing more of him in Caprica! Check out the Syfy/Caprica website (The Caprican/News says Sister Clarice and Nestor were both out of the car!) and the (first minutes of) the podcast on ep. 4
